  • "Salt is one of the better restaurants that we have had the pleasure of dining at in 2014. Because it is located in the Ritz Carlton Hotel much of its clientele are guests. The menu is very inviting with many options for all courses. The veal and lamb dishes are outstanding. The seafood pasta is also great. The chef was willing and able to eliminate certain ingredients to deal with food allergies. The soufflés for dessert were also worth doing. We would definitely go back to Salt again when we are in the hotel or the area."

  • "We ate at a couple of great restaurants while on AI, but overall, this was definitely the best dining experience---food, service, view, ambiance. We were celebrating our birthdays and they brought dessert with candles, etc. The heirloom salad --many kinds of tomatoes--was incredible and that would have been enough, but the steak and eggs with hot stone cooking station at the table was over the top. My wife's sea bass was also to die for. Though you are in a resort town, I agree that you should dress for a meal like this---while most men adhered to the collar, slacks, shoes code, a guy sitting next to us had on jeans and a bad hawaiian shirt---oh well. Overall--a great experience and we would definitely go back."

The 4 types of salt was an eye-opening experience about how various highly flavored salts can make bread explode with flavor! Wonderful!!. For service, our only criticism is that the Chef would not allow us to order without including our desert option with during the main course. Therefore, we declined. When i tried to order an appetizer (salad) while deciding on the main course, we were also told that the Chef only would allow one order that included the appetizer or salad. Honestly, it's a bit more Kitchen Patrol than is reasonable for the size of the bill at the end of the meal . . . come on, lighten up a bit, yet keep the fantastic salty edge."

  • "This was our third visit to "The Rita-Carlton Amelia Island"-Salt, The Grill How nice to find a restaurant that will still require appropriate dress attire out of respect for all the patrons and the staff. You look around and know your patronage is going to be appreciated and service will be excellent. The view of the beach and water were both calming and enjoyable. Our server was always close by to see to our every need. We save a chance to enjoy a cold martini when dining out, they never seem to taste the same at home. Salt always exceeded our expectations."

  • "My husband and I have dined at Salt three times before and loved it. Was very excited to return with another couple to celebrate 2 birthdays the other night. Service and food were good, but definitely not 5 Diamond rating so we were rather disappointed. It took 45 minutes to get a bottle of wine and and hour after we sat, we finally received bread service, which is actually bread worth eating! While the entrees were good, there was nothing special about it, especially for the price. I have certainly had much more exciting dinners for a fraction of the price.... And the dessert was microscopic for $20 (signature souflees). It would have been nice to have a server who was more engaging and could elaborate on the menu too. Not great :-("

The couple at adjacent table told us that, in the past, they and others have had the same criticism of the souffle and informed the serving staff.   • "My wife and I decided on the Chef's Adventure Menu, a 4-course, blind tasting menu, with the wine pairings, and didn't regret a thing. The wine pours were quite generous, starting with a full flute of champagne, and each dish was exceptionally done. I expected more varieties of salts, but the three provided were delicious and fun to try. My wife's convinced they could read her mind (or bugged our table) to know what she was hoping for, especially the soufflés for dessert."

My husband had tuna tartare with small chunks of melon which made it a great summer dish. My pasta with seafood in a mushroom cream sauce was one of the best I have ever had. The pairing of the salt to compliment the dish was explained with each dish. I will definitely be back if we are ever in the area."

  • "We have been to this restaurant numerous times and always consider it a special occasion. . The bread was not delivered for another 15 minutes. We then waited another 45 minutes for our entrees with only one visit from our waitress to advise us that they were on their way. I had ordered a dessert soufflé in advance while my husband had not. We again waited more than a half hour with no dessert and no one cared to ask my husband if he wanted to order a dessert. After telling them we would not wait any longer, the manager tossed my dessert on the table and walked away when we said we were tired of waiting and we're ready to leave. They did remove our entrees from the bill but no one spoke to us."

Our table ordered the tasting menu which should of made the service easy but unfortunately the timing was not 5 diamond as the Salt is rated but rather more like a 3. Our courses came to quickly and the paired wines were brought well afterwards. Everyone was friendly but seemed hurried and unfocused. The food was good but more like a very nice restaurant we would eat at for any evening out. There will be no hurry for us to return. "
