  • "I booked the Palliser for my dad's bday and wanted to do the Sunday brunch. It was plastered all over the website that is what they do on Sundays from 11:30am to 1:30pm. When we arrived at 11:30am we were told they weren't doing brunch and the breakfast buffet would be over at noon. So we were rushed to eat and all there was left at that point was scraps. I was very disappointed for a $30 breakfast buffet and lack of items. Should have booked elsewhere for brunch. The quality of service and ambience is always high at the Palliser. I was disappointed that they still advertise a brunch when they know it isn't being served. I don't blame them for not having brunch as the restaurant was dead but the Fairmont Palliser website was misleading."

  • "This was our choice for 45th wedding anniversary dinner. It didn't disappoint. Excellent regional menu and an amazing "alternative" menu: gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, diabetic, raw...we found such an alternative menu available at all of four Fairmont hotel restaurants we visited in Canada. When we declined a complimentary dessert to honor our special occasion, the server brought us a box of Fairmont tea to take along with us. Very nice gesture."

  • "I work at a bakery that bakes from scratch every single day so I may have a higher standard for desserts. However, when you're paying $30 per person for desserts, anyone would expect something from scratch and unique, I would think. It was a disappointment to say the least when I got to the buffet. Most of the desserts were left overs and not made in house (usually squares such as brownies and cakes are baked from an outside source where all hotels tend to get their desserts from). You can tell which were made in house by the type of dish the dessert is set in. If it's a dish that can be thrown away, it was not made in house. I would not recommend going to this buffet if you are a foodie wanting to explore new and fascinating desserts."

  • "I was blown away by this restaurant. We had Jack as our server and he provided one of the most spectacular service I've ever experienced. He was very helpful, very attentive to all of our needs. The food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for succulent food and outstanding customer service. Can't wait to try their Death by Chocolate buffet on Mondays :D"

It may be a touch on the expensive side but these days you get what you pay for....at the Palliser, it's always amazing food and first class service...as a family, over the years, we have celebrated dozens of special occasions at the Palliser I highly recommend the Palliser for brunch or any other function. "

  • "Five of us and a baby had brunch at the Rimrock which many had said it was the best buffet brunch in town. The spread looked impressive as it took up a big space outside the restaurant. But the food quality was not good and selection was limited. The scallops were small and overcooked, the prime rib was mushy and does not have the fresh meat texture. They also ran out of seafood sauce. It was nice to have all you can drink mimosa, but the service was slow. The chairs were soggy so they were not good for bad backs! They did bring out a little slice of cake with a sparkler for my mom's birthday though!"

  • "We had bought a coupon with Travelzoo and were expecting a really great evening. However, I found it kind of disappointing - the server was subpar (which I was so surprised about since I am a real Fairmont fan!!) and they placed us at a table right outside the kitchen door. It's such a great room with lots of spots - not sure why they did that. The food was good - nice and hot, cooked well. But really uninspiring - salmon with a hunk of guacamole on top, mashed potato and a couple veg. Overall, just a bit not what I was expecting."

  • "From the moment you walk into this high class dining room, you are treated like a royal. We went with a TravelZoo deal, and our waiter Simon was fantastic. We both had the clam chowder to start - which was savoured down to the last spoon full. Then the main course of the salmon and beef tenderloin. DELICIOUS!!! Creme Brulee and coffee for dessert rounded off the evening with a full 5 star rating!"

  • "Sadly, Death by Chocolate needs to be put down. The dinner portion of the buffet was minimal in choices, and only moderate in quality. The cold marinated shrimp were very good, but the hot food was dried out, not very frequently re-filled, and the carving station was mostly un-attended, so you had to serve yourself if you wanted roast beef! The dessert selection was varied enough, but that hardly justifies the price. We won't be back."

  • "Well, at 100 years old, the old girl still has it. The Palliser lobby is jaw dropping gorgeous. Beautiful furniture groupings, soft music, high ceilings, lobby bar...Fantastic. We had 2 Travelzoo vouchers ($158 for 4 prix fix dinners). The Rimrock room is equally beautiful to look at and we managed to reserve a fireplace table. Simon our service was funny and helpful. The food was delicious. We had the 100-year-old recipe clam chowder and Caesar salad. Mains were hanger steak and salmon. Desserts crème brulee and chocolate cake. All nicely cooked and presented. Hubs got a birthday surprise when Simon brought him a dessert with sparkler. Nice touch. Bill still came to $68 + tip even with the voucher. Total $261.A tad pricey for what we got."

  • "We used a travelzoo coupon. I had the kale salad which was baby kale leaves, orange pieces and radish slices around the edge and dressing lightly drizzled. Dinner was salmon cooked perfectly but with no seasoning. Parmesan potatoes, two slices of boiled carrots, a tbsp of corn and a tablespoon of guacamole. An odd combination. Dessert was a chocolate mousse with passion fruit compote inside, which was tasty. The best part if the meal was the wine pairings fir only $30. They were generous sized glasses of nice wines. Overall, I found the food to be fair but it lacked creativity. Calgary restaurants have raised the bar so there is no room for mediocrity. I won't return as there are so many choices in the city for good, fresh, fun food."

  • "I had won a gift certificate for the Death by Chocolate Buffet so my Boyfriend and I went with another couple. We decided to do the full buffet and were not disappointed. The food was amazing and the chocolate buffet to following was delicious. I have never eaten so much quality food for a acceptable price. Our waiter was very nice and helpful with everything. Although, he did only ask one girl at our table for her I.D and no one else's. I found this a little non-professional and a bit rude to only ask for one. As we were all around the same age and she was the oldest. I found it odd to check one ID and not everyone's. Overall, the experience was wonderful and I would recommend it to other people for sure! I will definitely come back!"

  • "We have been to the FM several times for dinner brunch etc. It has never been approaching a poor or even just average review. This Mother's Day Brunch was terrible (other than the dessert). The service and food was so substandard that I cannot make myself rebook again It was $500 for the lot of us and thankfully the tip option was not included. The once spectacular Brunch has regressed unfortunately"

  • "Went for a retirement lunch for a favourite coworker. Most places downtown can't accommodate large groups. Found this gem. Not only was it good for a group, it was quiet and intimate - we could all hear each other across the table with a party of 13, service was impeccable, food was fantastic, and it was reasonably priced. Made it an experience for my coworker that we could all sit and really have a conversation."

  • "The buffet on Monday night with the prime rib was so delicious! The selection was large and everything was very fresh despite being served in a buffet style. I was very satifised with the dinner. However, when it came to the dessert I was disappointed by Death by Chocolate. I tried almost all the desserts but ended up only taking a bite out of everything. The only dessert that was acceptable was the chocolate fondue. The mint cheesecake, mousse cake, chocolate cake, tarts, cake bites and others were either too sweet, didnt have the right texture or tasted not right at all. Overall, the desserts were not a delight and spoiled the rest of the evening despite the dinner being very enjoyable."

  • "This would be the best venue to have a special brunch, especially one to celebrate a friend's birthday or some other "girly" occasion like a post-stagette or wedding shower type celebration - they bring you non-stop mimosas that are very delicious and it is not extra. Amazing. I would love to have a girl's only brunch here, would be a lovely time. The food is lovely. It is a bit expensive for a brunch, but remember you get mimosas at no charge, so that in and of itself is worth the price to me. I did find that the service to get a coffee a bit slow, but then maybe they didn't realize we wanted coffee and mimosas; the food is lovely. This is a very elegant brunch."

  • "A special evening required a special restaurant and we definitely got it at the Rimrock Dining Room. My beef tenderloin was excellent - tender and not overdone (I like it rare). Although the veal was good, my partner felt it was mostly bone and not enough meat. We were not rushed (we spent three hours there) and our waitress was charming and efficient. It was very pricey but worth it for a special occasion."

  • "My friend and I celebrated her birthday at the restaurant. We didn't have the dinner, only the dessert buffet. It was very good, lots of choices. I can't say that every dessert was superb, but some really were. I think it's a matter of taste. The ambiance was lovely, service was impeccable. Classical music was playing as a back ground music, there is lots of space between the tables, so you can have a sense of privacy at your table. I would absolutely recommend it for a special celebration."
