The RichmondI loved it!Try the chicken - it's fantastic. Or the duck, which is cooked perfectly in a great sauce. Or the squash soup. Or the brie combination. Or the coffee semifreddo. Service was attentive but not annoying and the timing of the dishes was perfect. They even accommodated a friend's request for a surprise birthday dessert for us! Unfortunately, even on a Thursday evening, parking was a real challenge!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit toThis was my second visit to The Richmond within ten days, so it should be obvious that I am a fan. Once again, it did not disappoint. Although the menu is not extensive, it offers enough options to dine there frequently and be able to have something different. Food service is perfectly paced, allowing you to enjoy your meal but not feeling rushed. Perhaps the most appreciated feature for us was that we could carry on a conversation without feeling the need to shout at each other. Although there were people at adjacent tables, we did not hear their conversations either. If only the parking weren't so challenging...but The Richmond is definitely worth the visit.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic and affordable!I found this place thru Zagat. It was a simple two blocks from where we stayed in Inner Richmond. It was affordable, delicious, and beautifully presented food. We loved it and will definitely make a point o return there on our next visit to SF, even if we don't stay in that neighborhood. I highly recommend it!!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Dining ExperienceWe really enjoyed the fixed menu with wine pairing. Our server (Rochelle) was wonderful as she described each course and wine pairing beautifully. A special evening at The Richmond.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAs good as everThe Richmond continues to be the neighborhood gem we discovered several years ago. The food is well prepared, beautifully presented and delicious. The menu is not extensive, but changes enough to make trying new items possible if you don't want to go with your favorites from last time. The wait staff is very attentive without being overwhelming, and very helpful if asked for an opinion. While this is a small restaurant, each table enjoys its own privacy and it is possible to carry on a conversation without trying to talk over the people around you.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful dinnerWe had a wonderful dinner - as usual. We did the tasting menu for the first time ever with the wine pairing. The price for both is terrific and the food was delicious, both the dishes on the menu plus the three (!) amuse bouches. The wine pairing was exceptional.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was absolutely stellarFood was absolutely stellar and a great value. We had the salmon and the duck and tried a couple of the appetizers and a total of three glasses of wine...our bill was under $100. Hard to find this quality for this great price.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Service. The Duck wasGreat Service. The Duck was Scrumptious. Cozy and Intimate setting.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent with its own specialties,Excellent with its own specialties, good service, nice ambiance. Will return. Great chicken and salmon.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThis return visit was anotherThis return visit was another delicious, beautifully prepared, and well presented meal. The tasting menu offered perfect proportions of exquisite selections from their careful menu, and the wine pairings were well chosen to compliment each offering. Two amuse-bouche were also samples of other glorious menu choices. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever enjoyed, from here to the other side of heaven which is Paris.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat RestautrantThe Richmond has consistently served us very good food. I have been to this place dozens of times and I never had a bad meal. The prices are great, and the portions, a little too big (but who is complaining?). I highly recommend this place for a romantic dinner.
Their bread with 3 different butters is outstanding! The chef is very accommodation and creative, and I love that they substitute the foie gras for sweetbreads. It was a great addition.
This place is a gem.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing tasting menu. CuteAmazing tasting menu. Cute and small place. Really delicious.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Richmond continues toThe Richmond continues to provide excellent meals at great value. They utilize
high quality ingredients to prepare imaginative, delicious food which is always presented
in an appealing manner. Portions are very generous. My only complaint was that the appetizer and entree were so good that I had no room for any of their wonderful desserts
There is a good selection of wines at very reasonable prices. The glass of inexpensive Pinot Noir went well with my meal. Bottles run from the mid-20's to over $200 and there were many bottles at the bottom and middle end that I would order on future visits with a larger party. My server was knowledgeable and properly attentive. The bus person could have done better. Quibble, use loose tea or better ba4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMYumm-o! You got to check it out!Richmond offers delicious French style cooking.....everything done to perfection. Great choices of wine offered. Staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Definitely one of the few neighborhood gems. We hope they keep up the awesome food and service; and hope they stay in business for a long time to come.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is still good but weFood is still good but we noticed sauces were richer than usual with more cream. We would liked a lighter preparation otherwise we had a good experience. Wait staff was very nice as usual.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFood wonderfully preparedFood wonderfully prepared and consistent, but after our 3rd visit, we hope that there are changes/additions made to the menu. Very limited choices.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMHard to find any bad pointsHard to find any bad points about our experience at The Richmond.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good food. InterestinConsistently good food. Interesting menu items and great presentations.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI enjoyed everything aboutI enjoyed everything about the Richmond, good service and overall I liked the food although for my taste I thought the crab cake
was too salty. My friend's steak was how he ordered it and my salmon was great - especially as it had a lot of green veggies with
it which I like to have. We shared the coffee granita - and thought it was not that special - but the ice cream tasted good at the end of
the meal. They served us coffee and left the urns at the table which was great and the regular coffee was strong hot and delish!
Not a lot of choices for non meat eaters but I would return to see what else is on. Their tasting menu - 5 course did look very good
if you eat everything including red meat.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMKnown for the dinner pre-fix.Known for the dinner pre-fix. Alternative options are good, but somewhat limited. What we had was very good and the overall atmosphere very nice. You get a peak into the kitchen if you walk just outside the front door. Very cute overall and good option for more intimate dinner nights.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI love the Richmond. HaveI love the Richmond. Have gone a few times. It works great for going to the deYoung. Brought my friend who loved the food, too.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat findWhat a find and not far from the De Young. Made a wonderful evening3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI was pleasantly surprisedI was pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful restaurant. The short-rib w/scallop appetizer was amazing. Their sauces were quite good as well! Skip the coffee dessert.......3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is a very nice cozy place,It is a very nice cozy place, the food is very good and service is great too, they make you feel like you came for dinner to your friends.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWow. This unassuming establishmentWow. This unassuming establishment has no bells and whistles, just unique art, low lights and a quiet sophistication, a great wait staff, and consistently excellent fare. And, everyone's right about the wine list ... many great bottles for a bargain! This place is small, yet the mise en scene is not cramped, so one can instantly inhabit the space as their own. I selfishly hope The Richmond will not move to a larger, high-end space with which this dining experience could deservedly pair. I love it that it is truly a "neighborhood gem", rather undiscovered and low-key. The Richmond is a worthwhile exercise from the spare decore, to the kitchen, to the billet (tab) that should please everyone.1/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
