The Rib Room at the Omni Royal OrleansBirthday celebrationIt's been 30 years since we have been to New Orleans. The Rib Room has been a favorite for fine dining and Friday evening was better than I remembered. We both had prime rib medium rare and it came to the table perfectly cooked. Words cannot covey how good the prime rib was. Good coffee but had no room for dessert. Id go back. Was our most expensive meal that week (even more than Emeril's Nola) was worth it. However this Rib room in the lobby of the beautiful Omni Royal Orleans is terrific! We ordered gumbo, short ribs, steak, redfish, bananas foster and more it was all terrific. I write this review after visiting 4 other "top" ($$$$) dinner spots- this was absolutley the best of the bunch! Should have gone with prime rib - the pork belly was really yummy but the other 2 (roasted and shredded) were dry and bot too flavorful. He charged me for drinks that I didn't drink and said, "I saw that on your bill but forgot to take it off". When we arrived, someone else was complaining about the service too. The waiter also forgot our coffee. The food was great but not sure I'd try it again when there are so many excellent restaurants in the French quarter. Hostess Alice was superb and when I asked about a garnish, she brought the chef to talk to us. Chef Dwayne sat down and told us exactly how to prepare the garnish. This restaurant is elegant and lovely. We ate there twice -- once for a fabulous dinner and another morning for brunch.
