A word from The Rib Room at the Omni Royal Orleans
For 50 years The Rib Room has enjoyed its reputation for outstanding food and service. Patrons have found the massive windows facing Royal Street the perfect backdrop for Crescent City dining. The woody, Old English atmosphere and high ceiling invite guests to sit back and stay awhile. The softly lit and equally comfortable Rib Room bar offers the ideal setting for sophisticated beverages and extensive wine cellar selections. In the restaurant's wine cellar, diners requiring privacy may choose from the "Pipkin", "Wine Cellar", or "Roundtable" rooms, perfect for small gatherings; each discreetly removed from the main dining floor. On the upper level of the Rib Room we feature a private room for groups up to 40 guests. Winner of the prestigious Zagat Award, The Rib Room offers classics such as slow roasted prime rib of beef, aged steaks, fresh Louisiana seafood, and champagne brunch on Sunday.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "You are only as good as the service provide today. Very disappointed in the service, which has been great in the past. Will be a long time before The Rib room has another chance."

  • "The service was lacking. A gentleman sitting behind us who actually was seated after we were was complaining loudly about not being acknowledge. The manager came over to appease him. After his appetizer, his main course actually came out before ours did. My husband and I were not please but decided not to complain. We had to flag a helper to get the check. The Prime rib was ok. The only thing I enjoyed was the grilled liver appetizer. I will not recommend this place. There are much better places to eat with excellent service and taste in New Orleans. So Disappointed!!!"

  • "The food was excellent. The service very friendly in a good way, somewhat formal but not overly so. Very old world. Atmosphere is restrained but not stuffy. Everyone from the receptionist to the manager were welcoming . This is a wonderful oasis in what has become a very brash city. Our meals were well presented and delicious. Would definitely return to this restaurant. Pricing is very reasonable considering the quality of both food and service."

  • "Nice looking place. Food tasted good, but it was just warm not hot. Service was good."

  • "I love that they offer outdoor seating. Its really hard to find and occasionally the weather is good in New Orleans. The food never is disappointing. I have been several times and each time it is delicious. Great job!"

  • "I have been to the Rib Room several times and this was the worst experience that I have had there. I have had good service here, but this time it was bad. The server was slow and her assistants were just standing near the bar rather than refilling water, bread, and & as one would expect. She asked if I wanted anchovies on my salad and I said no. However, it still came with them. When she saw them sitting on the plate, there was no acknowledgement of the incorrect order. However the worse service came from the cocktail waitress who seems to focus on talking/flirting/networking with 2 older gentleman than serve drinks to other customers. I might give the Rib Room another shot, because it has been good before, but this was a bad meal!"

  • "Used the Rib Room on a number of occasions for business entertaining. Overall very good, friendly service. Suitable for the more formal and special occasions. Food very good. At times service was a little slow. Great location in French Quarter"

  • "Good but not great service...the baked potatoes were not very warm and had to be returned. Very nice atmosphere and great Prime Rib. I had a Short rib which was excellent."

  • "I travel to the city occasionally on business, the Friday lunch here is not to be beat if you can host the $2 Martini special. Food and service are p with the best I have had around the world, not stuffy but not too familiar either"

  • "We had a very nice dinner for four. They had a little trouble timing the meal, the various steaks and Prime Rib were inconsistent in how we ordered them and how we got them. Lamb ordered medium rare was medium well, Prime Rib ordered more on the done side was too rare. Seemed like it was going to be a hassle to send it back. Service was great and what saved the meal was the quality of the meat. Will definitely go back, will be more insistent on doneness."

  • "All I can say is the MEAT, The MEAT, The MEAT - it is one of the best values on the high end in the Quarter for the delicious Filet, Porkchop and Prime Rib. We got three entrees and some sides and split it between the four of us. Our kids, 10 and 12, loved the Rib Room so much, we went twice."

  • "Unfortunately the food wasn't as good as I would have hoped. I found the food to be average but I was mostly disappointed in the steak I ordered which was completely overdone and chewy. The waitress was very robotic and when we even tried to engage her in light conversation her answers were yes and no. Something that may be normal for other parts of the country but never in New Orleans. Otherwise the restaurant is very beautiful and the ambience is wonderful. Probably will never dine there again as there are too many other restaurants in New Orleans that surpass this one by a mile."

  • "We had the bone marrow, squash ravioli, broiled oysters and king cut prime ribs. Everything was great! Best experience here yet."

  • "Very nice decor, looks like "Nawlins" fine dining establishment. Little disappointed in size of table and seats which was a table for two with back seat against wall booth type. Great service, friendly, not overbearing. Food served timely, nice presentation. Very versatile setting. Could be for romantic or group of guys havin fun."

  • "We had a reservation for a bachelor party of ten guys on Fat Tuesday. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. The turtle soup, oyster/shrimp cocktail, bone-in rib eye, and king cut prime rib were all phenomenal."

  • "The Rib Boom is one of our favorite restaurants in New Orleans. We have been here many, many times with great service and wonderful food. Today the experience was mediocre at best. One person got the wrong food and another person got cold food. We had to ask twice for sweetners that should have been on the table. We will go back since we have had many wonderful meals here....."

  • "We stayed at the Omni for a week and ate at the Rib Room several times. We had breakfast, dinner, appetizers, bar snacks, etc. There were one or two things I wasn't crazy about (whiskey soaked lamb chops, for example) but that was made up by other things that were wonderful (potato skins with prime rib debris and gruyere cheese, freshly baked Danish in the morning, turtle soup, pork boulettes, gumbo, etc.). All the servers were very attentive and pleasant and the dining room was very elegant. Overall we were very happy with the Rib Room and glad it was right there at the hotel."

  • "Had a most memorable meal at the Rib Room! The food was fantastic, and service was very attentive without being overbearing. It is great to see this New Orleans institution back the way it was with a few updates. Ask managment for a reccomendation on the wine list. They helped us choose a perfect match for our food."

  • "The ribeye steak my wife had was one of the best she has ever had. We split the steak, and I have to admit it was very very good. We will definitely go here again on our next trip to NewOrleans."

  • "Greeted by smiles and hellos and asked how we were. Shared a few laughs. Flowers ordered were not there yet but we were seated early. Flowers were promptly. Waiter was bland and not a lot of personality but his aprentice was absolutely amazing! Great smile, intelligent and witty. Appetizer was tiny expensive and overcooked, not terrible but not good, bsolutely no presentation value. We ate the 5 very small shrimp and we were just happy chatting. Bisque tasted more like roux but crabmeat cluster was very yummy. Steaks were cooked to perfection. We had every intention of ordering desert but before we had a chance our waiter brought us bread pudding that looked and tated divine. He also mentiond that the desert was on the house."

  • "We had booked a post-holiday lunch with another family and made specific requests for elbow room to exchange gifts; not only did the restaurant accommodate, they went above and beyond. We were placed with a beautiful view of the Royal Street and provided an additional table to set our gifts on with more than enough room for unwrapping. The mean was absolutely perfect, from burgers and po boys to pork belly and plates of prime rib; we couldn't have asked for a more delicious and delightful meal. Our server, Andy, didn't press us for time, and made wonderful recommendations."

  • "This was our first time for dinning in this restaurant. We came here because my husband wanted good steak. He had the ribeye and I had the prime rib. We have not seen the ribeye cooked so perfectly for medium rare. It was medium rare for the whole piece of ribeye. The chef was excellent. The menu was limited. I wanted the special four course meal but they did not provide any choices. It came with lamb but I do not eat lamb. For the price there should be alternatives. Overall good was excellent but pricey."

The experience was outstanding. Our service was a stellar balance of attending to our needs without being overbearing."
