It's hard to write a recommendation since they will now convert to a "grab and run" operation! Elfie, the dynamic and well-liked long-time waitress will still be there, a plus for Virginia Mason!

The ambiance/location really takeaway from the potential of this restaurant. I only went because we were trying to use some restaurant.com points. Food was good though.

It's a traditional long time really great neighborhood eatery. I hear, that they are converting it into a grab and run operation come February 17...Too bad.

Coleslaw was amazing, but salmon, although tasty, was a bit overcooked.

My Mother and friend ate lunch here while having a fun day in Seattle shopping and visiting the King Tut exhibit. The experience was just lovely. The furnishings were comfortable and inviting. We were seated next to a window facing an outdoor courtyard/eating area with hanging plants and flower pots (would be fun to eat out there on a warmer day). Our server was warm and friendly, personal and attentive. Would definitely go back. Oh, yeah and the food was simply delicious. The prime rib was cooked perfectly, tender, and seasoned with a delicious sauce.

The first time we had lunch, and it was great! Food very well prepared and artfully served. Latest dinner was not as good quality-wise. Salmon main course was a bit dry. And while we do not blame the restaurant completely, there was a VERY loud obnoxious patron who disturbed our peace and enjoyment of dinner. Wish staff had asked him to tone it down.

Rhododendron is a simple quiet restaurant owned by Virginia Mason, yet we always are delighted to visit them. The menu is not very extensive and they only have a few kinds of beer and wine (no hard alcohol). At the same time, their food is delicious and their service is always warm and welcoming. The place itself has a quiet, old-fashioned and romantic ambiance. Our favorites are the house pizza and blta.

I had a reservation but they don't seem to really care about reservations. We waited about 25 minutes past reservation time. Seems very chaotic.

We were there a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed out lunches very much. However, they changed the two for one to 20% off the entire bill. It's a nice place and we would return.

A pleasant, old-fashioned, quiet restaurant that is really a bargain. The menu ranges from sandwiches, salads and pizza to a list of about five dinner entrees. We had a huge, tender and delicious rib-eye steak for $25. It came with salad or soup and asparagus and rice. The waitresses were pleasant and friendly. We only wished there were more entree choices.

I ate lunch with a group of co-workers in the outdoor garden of The Rhododendron. It is a wonderful little oasis in the middle of First Hill and provides a peaceful and quiet atmosphere in the city! The food was fantastic (I had the half soup, half sandwich (club) combo) and the service was great as well. The lunch fare is decently priced with an average around $12, but they also have entree items that cost a bit more. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
