  • "The best part on this day was the service. Our waitress was wonderful. The menu changes daily so I thought their choices were not up to the usual standards for this restaurant. I ordered a Caesar salad with a shrimp add on. It was outstanding. The shrimp were giants and the best I had ever had. So soft and tender just melt in the mouth."

  • "We made reservations for a Sunday at 1. With a request to sit outside in the shade. We showed up on time and was told there were no seats outside. We didn't get seated until 45 mins later. And while waiting in the bar, the bartender 4 feet away never acknowledged our party of 4 for the entire time. When we finally got seated, We asked for a shady spot and the hostess still walked us to a sunny table while there was a shady table empty that we had to point out. The waiter was nice but very slow. All in all a disappointing and 45 minute longer than wanted experience. The food isn't as great as it used to be and the service is average at best."

  • "Food and service is always fantastic. We look forward to the constant changing menu with fresh seasonal and local grown items! The outdoor terrace area is normally a beautiful setting to enjoy an evening with wonderful food, wine and service. However lately, the DJ amplification (from wedding parties renting the grass area on the property) has becoming increasing insufferable. Last Saturday was the worst we've experienced and many diners that night were also visibly bothered."

  • "A pretty setting and great food for a special occasion lunch. The heirloom tomato salad was delicious and the cod was cooked perfectly. Since we were there towards the end of lunch service, the staff was a little preoccupied with straightening up the dining room in preparation for dinner service. It is pretty pricy for lunch. They used to have a three course special at lunch which was more reasonably priced but seem to have done away with that. But all in all this was a lovely lunch."

  • "Nicely prepared pork belly sandwich, grits, and eggs benedict. Any time the wait staff refers to her table members as "we," I know our table will be in for a very unseasoned/inexperienced waiter/waitress. She meant well but was oversolicitous. I'm a local and have been to the Wente restaurant many times, but couldn't help but notice that much of the serving staff was quite young and seemed to be "performing" as recent graduates of a B grade restaurant training program, coming to the table every few minutes or so after we placed our order, to let us know how things were coming along. Well prepared and presented food;oversolicitous staff."

  • "The manger on the evening of 7/10/14 was very rude. When I walked in with my parents, we walked pass him and he kept looking straight ahead at a wall and did not acknowledge us. We came to the restaurant to celebrate my parent's 64th wedding anniversary. The waiter was very inattentive and it was hard to get his attention. I do not know if it is because we are Asians, but we did not feel welcome at the restaurant. The only time they smiled at us was after I paid the bill and we were leaving. The steak and pork chop were okay, but nothing special. I would never go back to this establishment."

  • "The setting is so lovely you could "dine" on a PPJ sandwich and enjoy yourself! Fortunately you have so many wonderfully prepared dishes to choose from that the dilemma is picking just one. My pork dish on a fresh mild chutney was superb as was my wife's fish dish. The strawberry dessert was an absolutely delicious way to end the meal - my thanks to the pastry chef!"

The Executive Chef has really improved and expanded the menu selections, which are served by a very professional staff, all of whom are well trained and supervised. A big plus is the Sommelier/Bartender Jorge who is constantly improving the wine and spirits section. Highly recommended, especially for patio dining on a warm, sunny day."

APPARENTLY THEY WERE REGULARS, THE STAFF DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. MY HUSBAND MENTIONED TWICE WE WERE CELABRATING MY BIRTHDAY, THEY CHOOSE TO IGNORE THAT. THE FOOD WASN'T THAT GOOD, AND HE TOOK I A LONG TIME TO TAKE OUR DESSERT ORDER, SO WE DECIDED NOT TO ORDER. I WON'T BE COMING BACK, AND WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT TO MY FRIENDS.THE TAB WAS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT WE GOT."

Our server was helpful (suggested we try their lamb pastrami appetizer, we did and loved it!) and polite and every food item was brought in a timely fashion. The food was very good even shared chocolate flourless cake to top it off. All was fabulous and the property is beautiful. So glad we came here! And Wente wine, of course..."

  • "We small plated thru a late lunch. Did split the burger as it was big and cooked perfectly as medium rare was requested. Fries are among the best we have had. Soup was interesting...corn and a type of fruit combination and sprinkled with various herbs and flowers. Fig salad was unusual but very tasty. Service was well paced a bread and water service was timely."

  • "Wente is one of our long time favorite restaurants. The food, service and ambiance have always been very good to excellent. However we had a very substandard lunch for 6 several days ago and our reaction was quite the opposite. Three of the six diners had the house made sausage and it was almost inedible tasting of organ meats and weird spices. The pasta dish had a sauce that was so uninspired that we would have believed it was Prego. The only positive dishes were the fried chicken and fish. The restaurant was very accommodating with substitute dishes when we balked at the pasta and sausage. Hopefully this was a rare miss. We will return to Wente again but with a bit more skepticism then we've had before."

  • "Wente Restaurant is a great place for enjoying a special occasion, I.E. anniversary, birthday, Mother or Father's day, etc. The food tastes great, but is costly for the portion sizes. Think small, but delicious. The ambiance is fine but not over the top. Service is good. I ordered a New York Strip, which came out as three or four small slices, and so few vegetables on the plate, it looked lonely. It did all taste great, but I think for the price they could be a little more generous. It all tasted great, but don't expect to have any leftovers to enjoy later! It would be nice to have more options on the menu. More pastas, meat choices to start with?"

  • "We were at Wente to celebrate a special occasion. We sat outside as the view is lovely. On a summer saturday there is usually a wedding or some other celebration on the lawn. As long as you don't mind the music and noises in the background the outdoor seating is lovely. The food was excellent. There was a dry aged steak on the special menu that was cooked to perfection. I had the roasted fish served on a bed of creamy Polenta which was sweet and very fresh tasting. Salads were light and delicious and desserts were fabulous. I would recommend it for a special occasion or, as in our case, out of town visitors to give them a feel for wine country dining without going all the way to Napa!"
