  • "This is a gem in a rural setting that is worth visiting over and over again. The menu is creative and the preparation and presentation are outstanding. The service leaves a little to be desired, but overall the experience was delightful."

  • "Our experience at the Butcher Shoppe was wonderful. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Their explanation of the wine list and menu was very helpful. Bonny and I will recommend this restaurant to our friends. Look forward to our next visit."

  • "My wife and I were there on a Friday night. The service was great. The live music was okay. Our meals were fantastic, first the presentation was great. Both meals tasted fantastic, mine was the porkchop and my wife had the filet. Both cooked perfect. Plenty of food. We were disappointed in the desserts though, I had the cheesecake, my wife ordered the apple crisp ala mode. We would NOT recommend either of these. I think we each took two bites and left the rest. This is the only reason I couldn't give the food a 5 star rating. We will be back in the future for Sunday brunch."

  • "The main course was fantastic, the bread served was amazing, desserts were just ok. The only thing to look out for was seating. We were seated in what came across as a hallway. A hallway to the game room none the less. We had a group of children continuously running (yes, running barefoot and all) in front of our table while we were trying to have a conversation. So, although I would recommend the place be careful where you are seated."

  • "We dined with a group of 10 in the bar/music area. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy with many different nooks and crannies for privacy. The service was good and the waitress was very knowledgeable about the different meats & sausages. I was impressed with the variety of food grown and sourced locally. The menu has good variety and price points. The trio played music from the 80's & 90's. They did a good job, maybe could have played a little softer for easier conversation. We'll visit this summer when the gardens are in bloom."

  • "The dinner was wonderful. I ordered the filet done medium rare and it was wonderful. It has been a long time since I had a steak of this quality, done just the way i wanted it done. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. The quality of the food was well worth the price."

  • "Everything was great but the beer was a bit overpriced. $10 for a pint is a lot ridiculous."

  • "The new late winter menu features some old favorites and some new surprises. The roasted red pepper bisque was outstanding and the featured pasta was inspired. The Maryland crab cakes and filet were perfectly prepared, too. I appreciated that the manager stopped by twice to ensure that everything was OK at our table. The warm fireplace was a welcome plus to our evening. I'll plan on returning again soon."

  • "Sunday was our first breakfast at Walhill. The choices were great, everything from traditional breakfast to Chef's special creations. There were four of us, everyone ordered something different. Everything was unique and delicious. The cost were no more than you would pay at a Perkins or Denney's. It is a shame more people are not aware of such a gem."

  • "I have been to Walhill a couple of different times and each time my experience has been wonderful. I am a picky eater, a self diagnosed super taster. Even the entrees that wouldn't normally be a favorite of mine are a treat here. The fact is that each entree is paired perfectly with specific sides such that the flavors work very well together. It is clear that a lot of attention has been given to pairing complimentary items."

  • "A unique location with history, a menu that can meet the needs of the adventurous as well as the sandwich crowd, in a location that makes for good conversation on the way. We'd say it was well worth the trip from Western Cincinnati."

  • "The food at the Butcher Shoppe is superb and keeps us coming back. Unfortunately, they ran out of filet mignon, but I attribute that to the fact that they were closing on January 6th for two weeks. However, the server suggested the New York Strip with the same setup as the filet, and I was very happy. The bar, on the other hand, is a whole other story. If you only want beer and wine, then there is no problem. They have a very nice wine list and the server is knowledgeable. However, I ordered a Vodka Gimlet from the bar and received a glass of lime juice with a hint of vodka. The server tried to fix it with more vodka, but it would have required half a bottle of vodka to offset the amount of lime juice."

  • "Everything was a completely satisfying experience...server was great...excellent knowledge of the menu....great personality.....food was served quickly and the presentation of the dishes made me think I was in an elegant restaurant in NYC or LA. completely awed, the taste equaled the heightened expectations. My only unexpected surprise was the check, not that the experience was not worth the cost, it was worth it, but the amount was unexpected. I must say the cost would not prohibit me from enjoying the experience again....just not as frequently....and understand the cost is completely in line with the services and dinning pleasure I received."

  • "It been a long time since I've been out to dinner where everything was delicious. My dinner companions said the same thing. Everything was home-made and so fresh. The waitress was pleasant and tried to give good service but at times it was a little lacking. Will recommend the restaurant to others."

  • "My first dining experience at The Butcher Shoppe Bar & Grill at Wahill Farm ensured it's place on my list of favorite restaurants! It was the perfect setting for a group celebration with plenty of space, very attentive service, and menu options that pleased everyone. The set-up of the various dining areas also speaks well of it's potential for a more intimate dining experience. Knowing the care taken in either producing their own menu items/ingredients or sourcing them locally is a bonus that I can only hope more restaurants will try to emulate. The food was very flavorful and definitely met my expectations. I highly recommend this venue for anyone looking for excellent food and a warm, rich environment in which to enjoy the experience."

  • "Absolutely delicious food. Gets better every time. So pretty and cozy for Christmas. The fact it's all locally raised just makes it even better. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that. We are so fortunate to have this restaurant in our town!"

  • "My wife and I went early on a Friday at 5:00 PM. It was easy to set up a reservation on open table. The place is rustic looking and their is a lot to look at. Marissa our waitress was excellent. She ask what we would like to drink I had a Blue Moon seasonal that was on tap. My wife had a glass of apothic red. Marissa also suggested a special they were having on a spinach mushroom salad we both order this. I can't remember the name of it but was delicious. My wife had filet mignon with mashed potatoes was great. I had 16oz. ribeye medium with fried potatoes was seasoned perfectly and tasted great. We had desserts and they were great too."

  • "The green pepper/tomato soup was the best I have ever tasted. Will definitely go back to try more food items. The wait staff was extremely helpful and after dining took our party of 4 on a tour. Very interesting place to visit. We will be returning as soon as we find ourselves in Southeastern Indiana again."

  • "Great rustic atmosphere on a farm setting with delicious food. Fresh salads from veggies grown on the property and meat from animals raised there also. The filet is outstanding. I've been there several times and have never had a bad meal. The staff is super friendly and eager to please. A bit pricey but well worth it in my opinion."

  • "This restaurant struggles to uncover who they want to be. Prices are high, but service is like walking into a bob Evans. Our waitress was not only young and naive, but she didn't know hoe to serve. Basics like knowing which utensils to clear or not clear, how to greet guests, etc were missed. She literally placed the crumpled specials list on our table got a drink from the bar and then asked if we were ready to order. Ridiculous! The salmon was horrible. My husband got the elk chops which he liked but the potatoes were not as fresh as I would have expected coming just from the farm. In all, is must be a place locals love. But real foodies would find it reaching and uncomfortable,"

  • "The menu featured some interesting new options including buffalo short ribs with blueberry barbeque accents as well as shrimp risotto. Our table tried both and were quite pleased. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was casual and relaxing. It's nice to have a rural setting that offers entrees well beyond fried chicken! Incidentally, the S'Mores cheesecake was great!"
