The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm
A special placeThis was our first time at Patowmack Farm and it was all I expected: fine dining in beautiful surroundings. The personalized menus were a nice touch. The wait staff was exceptional and very attentive to our needs throughout the meal and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food itself was amazing--very high caliber. Some might say it's overpriced, but I think the chef delivered. Our only complaint was the duck breast, which was a trifle tough. However, the accompanying sauce made this forgivable. We'll definitely be back for another special occasion.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA special place to enjoy food againThe experience my husband and I had while dining at this farm restaurant last Friday night is one which we shall never forget. The entire evening went well beyond what we had originally hoped for! The atmosphere was quiet, scenic, and ultimately casual while keeping up with more formal dining practices. The restaurant servers were knowledgeable and friendly. The owner was very casual and friendly with my husband and I as well as other patrons dining that evening. Our waiter, Scott, graciously offered to take some photographs of my husband and I in the nearby gazebo. The food was incredible, really, I was blown away by the entire food experience! The restaurant serves organic, local food and it all tasted amazing!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOutside for lunchWe ate outside with a stunning and had the patio to ourselves for most of lunch. What a treat! The service was great, thank you Patrick.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent dining experience! We had a wonderful time. From entering the restaurant we knew our anniversary dinner was going to be special. The staff is very helpful, kind and knowledgeable. The food was fresh, delicious and impeccable. We will be returning.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeThanks for a great evening for my wife's birthday. Great food and wine pairings great selection of locally grown food. We loved the view, the service and knowledgeable staff too match the food and wine.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh and FlavorfulWent with the perfect brunch -- chef chooses 5 courses. Haven't had better outside major metro area or Michelin 2star restaurants. Interesting favors, freshest possible veggies from 15 ft away, and outstanding crab and beef. Perfect soft eggs. I particularly liked the chefs home pickled vegetables ... Asparagus to die for. We will be back without doubt.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe'd booked before we readWe'd booked before we read Tom Sietsema's review in the "Post", but agree with his findings: very good food, expertly prepared under a new chef, in a serene locale with a stunning view over the Potomac. That said, the decor is a bit tired. The wine list was also a bit limited, but sufficient. The food is the obvious reason for going out and Chef Edwards did not disappoint. The dishes were all well prepared with an innovative use of local (and not so local) ingredients. The restaurant itself is obviously a labor of love for the owner and kudos to her to keeping this special spot humming along.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Farm to Fork FInd!You won't be disappointed with anything at the Patowmack Farm restaurant in Lovettesville, VA. Everything, even the views, will exceed your expectations.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA very memorable nightIt feels like you are eating on somebodies porch, so it's very comfortable, however still elegant. The food really is the highlight. The take is here is to take a quality ingredient and showcase that ingredient and they do this very well. It takes a minute though, because the flavors are subtle, so if you eat too fast you miss it, it is very elegant. So take your time, enjoy the wine and the ambience. It is really a different take than flavors that slap you in the face like good bbq. I enjoyed it thoroughly.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch Bonanza! My wife had read about this restaurant a while back, and this weekend we were looking for something fun in the Virginia countryside as a quick getaway. So I made a reservation online -- thanks OpenTable! The Sunday Brunch was fantastic. In particular, the Chef's new offering of the Ultimate Brunch exceeded my highest expectations. Five courses of the best menu selections might overwhelm some folks, but I have a large appetite and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Everything was fresh and organic, including the newly-picked asparagus grown on the Farm itself. Service was attentive and pleasant, without being intrusive. Our server, Scott, even prepared non-alcoholic cocktails at our request. Overall, a great time.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI don't think there is anythingI don't think there is anything this chef could cook that we would not be delighted to eat. In fact, the next time we go, and there will most certainly be a next time, we think we may just make the meal chef's choice.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect to celebrate Anniversary! This is the second time we've been to this restaurant. The first time was for brunch on Mother's Day and although it was beautiful and the food was great, it was a wasted on our two small children. This time we went to celebrate our Anniversary and we had a wonderful time! We had a custom printed menu welcoming us and wishing us Happy Anniversary, and our desserts had "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate on our plates. A very nice touch.Service is excellent here and the complimentary extras are much appreciated!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant has amazingThis restaurant has amazing dishes that use the freshest local ingredients possible.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely one of the top 5....Of all the foodie restaurants we've sampled all over the US in the last 12 months this is top shelf, probably top 5. The restaurant is open and airy...high ceiling modified green house...even though the day was gray, cold and overcast the views of the hillside, the river and the ancient trail trestle bridge were calming and lovely. The menu offered limited but sufficiently varied choices to satisfy both my wife and I. Fish flakey & tender, pork shoulder so lean & flavorful, an assortment of creative and fun Amuse Bouche and appetizers. The dessert was a carrot cake unlike any we have evet tasted...fluffy light & delicious...The wait staff is very efficient and thorough but slightly anxious about pleasing. We will do this again.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to return! My family and I enjoyed a truly wonderful Easter dinner and birthday celebration at this lovely farm-to-table restaurant. The Easter menu included a beautifully cooked spring lamb entrée that three of us enjoyed while two members of our party had the pork shoulder ... the best they ever had. The service was excellent and the restaurant is set in a restored greenhouse and very, very charming. Can't wait to return!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the trip!Easter Brunch was a wonderful treat. The chef produced exquisite courses based on local, organic foods. From the rabbit to the sturgeon to the carrot cake/souffle, everything was delicious. Went home and descended into a food coma for the rest of the day. And even in the rain, the view was beautiful. Worth the trip!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous all the way around!Fabulous all the way around! The scenery, the atmosphere, the food!!! Well done! We greatly appreciate real, fresh food and this place did not disappoint.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great dinner. TheWe had a great dinner. The food and service was fabulous!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding in every way!Our Sunday brunch at The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm was one of dozens of times we've visited this gem. We've never had a mediocre experience at the restaurant -- the food, ambiance, service are always outstanding. But this brunch was beyond compare. From the appetizer of Dungeness crab beignets to our delicious entrees of cinnamon French toast with homemade granola and fresh seafood stew to the Baily's Irish creme souffles -- every bite was extraordinary. The spicy Bloody Mary's with horseradish (great twist) and the fresh ground coffee were the perfect beverages. The owner, Beverly, even gave us a sampling of the Creamed Chip Beef, and my husband wanted to ask for a straw to drink the broth.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThumbs up!Wonderful food experience. Bet it looks fantastic on a summer day. Unfortunately we went on a grey day - early spring.
Would have loved it if there were something besides the restaurant to experience while there...3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMHave been to Patowmack FarmHave been to Patowmack Farm several times and am never disappointed. Had out of town company celebrating a birthday and the staff went all out to make it a very special occasion. The view is outstanding. My family hopes to return again soon.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMStaff is very tentative toStaff is very tentative to your needs. Great organic meal!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial OccasionWe took my parents to Potomack Farm for their 62nd anniversary and could not be more pleased. The food was excellent. The view was superb. The staff appropriately fussed over my Mom and Dad and brought extra goodies to honor their occasion. Our immediate wait staff took time to explain the menu, and I enjoyed the member of wait staff that gave a recount of local Loundon history. It could not have been better.
Please pass along our appreciation for a wonderful evening, meal and experience to the owner, Beverly Billand who personally contributed to making this a special, special occasion.
Felton and Susan Jones3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMeteoric night! This amazing family owned and run, organic foodie paradise, is where we saw an incredible meteor flash across the sky right in the middle of the view we enjoyed from the glass dining room on top of a hill, near the Potomac River and Maryland / Virginia border. I wished to be able to return there again soon. Great food, great wine, great service, and the best company a girl could wish for. You owe it to yourself to find this magical place.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThere is nothing you can reallyThere is nothing you can really say bad about this place. All staff is very willing to make your evening special. The owner even lends a helping hand. The food is out of this world. The only problem with the food is trying to decide what you want to have. The service is top notch. I would recommend this establishment over any other establishment in its class.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
