My wife had the roast chicken and what I ate of hers was overly salted. The pork chop I had was excellent, as was the tiramisu. A bit expensive for what you are actually getting though."

  • "We had decided to try The Refectory after receiving a much hyped review from friends. We arrived and were immediately introduced to the menu. We started off with a round of cocktails and appetizers, then got a bottle of wine and our main course, and finally finished off with dessert. The food was delicious (exactly what I would expect from a four star restaurant), but the true pleasure of dining here was the service. The wait staff was quick, knowledgeable, and highly recommended. We never had a dry glass, and got to try lots of different wines. In particular, for dessert, our server brought us a few samples of Asti which paired perfectly; something we would not have known to order. He made it a true food tasting experience."

The Restaurant Week prix fix menu was well within our budget, and we began our dining experience with the idea that we may get discounted service as well. We were pleasantly surprised!!!! Our service was incredible- of the highest quality! The first course was beautiful, aromatic and thoughtful. Our entree was filling and elegant. And deserts and drinks were divine !!! We even received complementary glasses of wine ! We HIGHLY recommend The Refectory for it's elegance, service, but mostly for the delectable art created by the chef! Worth every hard earned dollar and then some!"

  • "Appetizers Roasted Goat Cheese - Excellent! I would go again just to have two of these! Crab Pannequet - Good. Though most crab cakes are good. Entrees Salmon and Lobster Ravioli - Awful. The salmon was seared on the outside and raw on the inside. Not opaque - raw - like sushi. However, the quality of the fish was very good - sushi grade, in fact. The single ravioli on the plate was not lobster at all. It may have been mushroom. The entire dish was cold. Baby Rack of Lamb (ordered medium rare) - "Meh" Thin, overcooked and chewy. Again, the dish was cold. Deserts - like anywhere else, but smaller. "Been there, done that" list. Overrated and expensive. I MAY go back for wine and appetizers, but not for dinner."

We ordered both a red and a white. All entrees were exceptionally plated and tasted wonderful. We passed bites around the table.   • "We had a very good dining experience, thanks to our waiter, Joseph. He suggested wine pairings, if we did not want full glass. It was a wonderful idea and we thought the 2 ounce glasses, per course, were great. I observed my wife sitting back, and her fork on her plate. Thinking something was wrong, I asked about her salmon. She said it was delicious and that she was just enjoying the taste between bites. My sea scallops were delicious as well. I am not a dessert person, but the warmed pear tart was excellent. The Refectory was well worth our 20+ year wait."

I can't say enough about their scallops, most definitely the best I have had. Their wine list is extensive, and the staff very knowledgeable about each. If you are in the mood for a three hour dinner, consisting of top quality food, I highly recommend the Refectory. If you are looking for a large plate in short order, I would suggest finding an alternative venue."

  • "This restaurant is the epitome of food and service. When we saw we were going to be a little late for our reservation time we called and told them and they said that would not be a problem. Upon arriving 20-25 minutes late we were seated promptly and what makes the staff exceptional is they are always welcoming and interested in what the occasion is and it is the norm for the entire evening.   • "Chef Richard always offers a special 4-course prix fixe menu for Bastille Day, but this year the Bastille Day menu was available Mon-Fri, not just on the holiday itself, a great innovation. We've enjoyed these Bastille Day dinners for a number of years now, and it's become something of a tradition for us. As always, the entire meal was wonderful, planned, prepared, and presented with great care and imagination, making a memorable evening's dining. We enjoyed the "Wine Flight" of 4 French wines, selected to complement each course. I've remarked on it before, but you can't beat the bargain pricing on these prix fixe dinners, and I heartily recommend them."

The restaurant has bistro meals, which are served only during early hours. These are three-course meals for around $25. They are a good value, and the meals are usually quite good."

We arrived on time and were seated without waiting. All of the waiters and servers were very pleasant. The waiter was helpful in selecting menu items. Everyone was discreetly attentive. The portions of the food were just right. We were not rushed or felt we had to hurry through our meal. We had time between the appetizer and meal to enjoy each. Although we did not request any special instructions, our waiter, Justin, brought us sparking wine to toast when we sat down, and later gifted us a dessert and some dessert wine. The food, as always, was excellent, and Justin's wine recommendation was lovely. The Refectory is one of the few places in Columbus that really sets the mood for a wonderful evening and makes diners feel special. We are lucky to have this gem in Columbus!"

  • "This restaurant is where we often celebrate special occasions. Recently, we had an excellent dinner for a birthday. It began with a cold terreine for one and an artichoke salad for the other. The main dishes were a combination lamb dish and a salmon with ravioli and sauce. Dessert was very special with a melon pastry and a chocolate mousse. Each dish was beautifully prepared and presented. The restaurant is quiet and intimate. We recommend it highly. It is expensive, however, but worth it."
