One of the best prime ribs we've ever had. Took out of town guests and they were pleased too. Service was a bit slow due to staff shortage as a wedding was being served in the private area.

A little tricky to find. We - 7 of us - went for Easter brunch. Because the party was large, we were seated in the ballroom. Plenty of room between tables, great view of the water. The kids' buffet was a suprise and our 5 year old like the chicken nuggets from there. Not much of a wait for the buffet line if you timed it right! Drink refills weren't consistent. Several servers wanted to fill our champagne glasses when we sat down, but they were scarce when we wanted water refills and coffee. Couldn't figure out which server was "ours" to request the bill either.

It has been our family tradition to have Easter Brunch at The Reef for many years. It is never a dis-appointment. Having been born and raised in Long Beach,even though we have moved away, we still frequent this traditional restaurant every chance we can when visiting our families which are still in the Long Beach area.

Party of 8 for a nice dinner out. Were sat in the bar to eat dinner due to three weddings going on at the same time. The noise volume was way to loud to enjoy a conversation with anyone not seated next to you. If we had wanted to be in a party atmosphere we would have surly gone elsewhere. People from all three weddings were in the bar. Our host my 81 year old mother could not hear a thing (wears a hearing aid) due to the loud background noise.
Our server was very friendly and tried her best so she gets 4 stars.
Our food was cold when it was delivered to our table. We have eaten at the Reef 9 times in the past, but will NOT be going back. If you plan to seat dinner guest in the bar you need to advise them before they arrive.

'The Reef' at Long Beach is said to be owned by the same company as 'Orange Hill' in Orange County and 'Castaway' in Burbank. We loved dining at the latter two restaurants. But 'The Reef' was unexpectedly disappointing. The place looks old & dated. The plates & utensils looks overused. The view is ok, not breathtaking. The food is tasteless! I think Hometown Buffet menu will be better for much cheaper. The food was expensive $40/each for brunch. We can have a better dining experience at Parker's Lighthouse with that price. The waiter was entertaining like a stand-up comic. He gave jokes about virginity & pot smoking which is inappropriate in the presence of families with children during Easter Sunday. He served 2 cups of coffee with forks!

I really looked forward on special occassions to eat at the Reef. This year, the food was good, but the price was too expensive for my taste. In addition, it took too long to even valid park. fUnless your prices go down, I probably will not come to your restaurant on special occassions.

We have been to The Reef previsouly but not for a buffet (never do that again). The view is the main feature since the location cannot be compared. The A/C was non existent which made for a miserable time sitting in the heat. The food was bland and poor selection. For $50.00 a person you would expect something better....Sizzler puts on a better spread. The crowding was horrific...imagine going to a restuarant to pay such a high price and sit at folding tables....not an experience I want to have again.
