A word from The Reef
Nestled next to the Queen Mary, The Reef Restaurant offers an unparalleled dining experience, starting with the enchanting front walk surrounded with waterfalls and beautifully manicured gardens. Large windows offer a stunning view of Queensway Harbor and the downtown Long Beach skyline that can be enjoyed from all the tables, and from two open patios perched above the water line, while the Sundeck Terrace, with its backdrop of The Queen Mary and harbor waters make for a breathtaking place for intimate weddings. The Reef Restaurant provides such a romantic ambiance, that many couples have been engaged here and married in one of the beautiful banquet rooms overlooking the waterfront. The Reef’s selection of choice seafood and prime steaks is the star attraction that will delight the palate, along with an extensive fine wine list to complement each and every dish offered, from the succulent Australian lobster to the cowboy rib-eye steak topped with blue cheese. Diner Reviews
  • "Our table was located in the path of constant flow of people in and out of a wedding. Everytime the door opened we could hear the very loud party and again the constant flow of people in and out. Highly disappointed that the music did not support the Hawaiian/Tropical theme of The Reef. Neither the servers nor the attire enhanced what should have been a relaxing and retreat like atmosphere. Food was boring and my Creme Brulee was burnt on top. Sorry, but I must say that I liked the place better before it burned down."

  • "Great location, amazing service but the food is not as good as I remember. If prices are going to be as high as they are I would expect for the food to also be as good. This isn't my first time there, which is why I was surprised that the food was not up to par. I don't remember it being so bad. Get better chefs!"

  • "We were celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary and I had requested the most romantic view. We ended up being seated inside where the view wasn't as nice as if we had been seated on the patio. Other than that the service and food were good."

  • "Host wasn't friendly, we were on front of her not eye contact, she just answer the phone and after that she help us, went we been setting take like almost 10 mins to the server to notice us, my food wasn't that good as I expect, meat was good but the potato was totally cold can't even cut that well with the steak knife, so disappointed it was our first anniversary with my wife and I want to have a nice dinner, I request a nice table with the view and, we sat in a very old booth. I think the host didn't even knew my request she ask us if we want sit outside or inside, I feel bad with my wife experience."

  • "Expected better quality of food as compared to other brunch's in the area. Service was fun but slow. My Champagne glass remained empty too long during brunch. It took the wait staff a long time to clear used plates from the table. The scenery and beautiful setting was first rate."

  • "Great location for brunch on the water. Extensive buffet with a bit of everything. Really can't go wrong for standard brunch."

  • "The food was acceptable but lacked creativity. There's no question that the view was good but this doesn't entirely justify the price."

  • "The Reef is the epitome of meets expectations. The food is good, not great. The service is good, not great. I took a client and old friend to dinner here and was embarrassed by the stuffing coming out of the couch in the lounge as well as the garbage on the floor, i.e. A candy wrapper, napkins, and stirs. The view is great but if that isn't the most important aspect of your dining experience, I can recommend at least five other restaurants in downtown Long Beach that offer better food, service, and ambiance."

  • "I took a first date here and it was exceptional. We had a small booth which overlooked the harbor. Our waitress was fun yet very polite. The ambiance was perfect. The food was amazing. I couldn't of asked for a better setting."

  • "Parking lot jammed and backed up into the street because of weddings and reunions. Inside and dining experience was totally opposite: calm, good and personal service."

  • "We enjoyed the table at the window in the bar area which offered a wonderful view of the harbor. The service was very good and eager to please. Will definitely do a repeat, although the prime rib was bad."

  • "The atmosphere at the Reef is romantic, the lights are dim so you can see the city lights across the bay, butnot too dark that you can't see your food. Dress can be casual to very dressy. Food was good, but not spectacular. I had the blackened swordfish, and my sister had the steak which was better tasting. The service was great. Overall it was very pleasant, I would recommend this to my friends"

  • "Celebrated my mom's birthday here at 5pm on a Tuesday.... The place was empty. We ordered half of the Happy Hour appetizers, all of which were delicious hearty portions. The fish & chips and seafood salad were good too. Specialty drinks were surprisingly well priced ($8-10) and well made. Scenery was amazing also. My only complaint is in regards to the hostess at the front. As an event coordinator for weddings, I wanted to look at the facilities upstairs. She blatantly told me it was closed and I couldn't. Bad customer service; I could be a potential client or bring clients and she blew me off even though they were still empty."

  • "The food was very good, I had salmon (wonderful). My dinner companion had mahi and said that was also very tasty. We were seated in a booth with a nice view of the water and hoped to enjoy that at sunset. However,to our dismay, there was a private party about to get started. A sweet sixteen. It sounded like a very loud nightclub. Teenagers walked back and forth thru the dining area to either use the facilities or to chat on their cell phones. The music was so loud that it completely drowned out any conversation we were having. On the good side, the wait staff were very kind to move us to a table a bit farther away. It was a disappointing situation."

  • "The food was great. The service was pretty good. Would have liked to see our waiter (or somebody) a couple of times more than we did for things such as water refills. And I guess the only real complaint was that a drink I ordered at the beginning of the meal never came (and I didn't see my waiter to remind him about it) but it still showed up on the check. We got it straightened out in the end. We will hopefully be back."

  • "Love, love, love this place. Been here several times with friends and everyone has always walked off satisfied and happy. The only food that needs improvement is the fried chicken. Everytime I go I try it and it always dissapoints. But other than that love it all."

  • "Overall, we really enjoyed the brunch at The Reef. It was a bit over-priced for the quality of food, but there was a huge selection and we went home satisfied. You're definitely paying for the ambiance and the amazing view."

  • "There were 2 of us and we were placed at a side table in a small room with 1 very large party and another not quite so large party. They did not have enough seatings for the largest party so they brought more tables and took extra chairs from other tables, including ours. The food was ok but not worth the price, especially because I'm sure the "great" views of the harbor were worked into the food prices and we did not have a particularly good view and we had lots of noise from the large parties. Oh, and we both experienced some gastric problem a while after the meal."

  • "The food was pretty good. The service was good (the assistant waiters were better than the waiters). The decor needs to be redone, it definitely is late 80s, early 90s. However, sitting outside was a very scenic view. Overall, I would go back as long as we could eat on the patio."

  • "Nice atmosphere, not very crowded for a Friday night, service was a little slow, but food was very good and the view was spectacular. Nice to be able to walk to the restaurant from our hotel."

  • "Decor has aged and not been well maintained. Steak was not cooked to order and one entree did not arrive until all others in the party were half done. We had a party of 8 and when I booked the reservation, I explained my guests were all from a different country visiting for a conference and we would like a nice view. We were given a table in the middle of the room when the restaurant was only 1/2 full. None of my visitors wish to eat their again."

  • "Customer service was excellent from beginning till end, appetizer was good, sangria blanco drink was good, but my food was not good, I had the sirloin steak with mash potato, it lacked flavor and it was very dry, I would recommend the Reef to friends and family"

  • "When we arrived there was something going on with a cop car being there, so we couldn't pull into the valet parking area. The waiting area was a little crowded due to guests for a wedding party waiting to go into the ballroom. We brought our 6 & 7 year old, and didn't comfortable with them there at all. We asked for the patio, but we were seated next to a couple of girls in their thirties, and felt like the kids were bothering them. My 6 year old wouldn't touch her mac & cheese. Perhaps it was too fancy for her. Lastly, I ordered the early dinner special, and the mashed potatoes were very dry, but everything else was execellent..!!"

  • "Sunday Brunch at The Reef was excellent as always. Due to a wedding reception, the place was crowded, but the lines moved fast. Food is always delicious with a large variety of ethnic foods and choices. Service is always outstanding. Kudos to Bonnie!"

  • "Great food; excellent service; extremely attentive staff, yet allowed you private time and time to have cocktails before dinner and lots of time to eat and enjoy your meal. Beautiful view, very romantic...perfect place for a special evening. Prices were in line for the food and service. Dinner, drinks, including champagine, and dessert (shared) with out tip for 2 was only $88.00 we both had steak; I could not eat all of mine; that is how much food there was!!!"

  • "Went for fathers day and they had a buffet. The whole premises was overcrowded, and they failed to keep my reservation. Waited an extra 15 min to get called, and once inside we had to stand around for 10 min until the staff knew what to do. Overpriced for the quality of food as well. Only nice thing was the view of the harbor. Our wait staff was friendly once we were seated, but before that hosts were flighty and unapologetic. I won't be going back, especially not on a special occasion."
