Friends took us to a belated dinner to celebrate out 50th anniversary. The food was excellent. We each had a different dish with several starters and not one disappointed. All of us enjoy good food and wine. If you wish to served well and treated to a good dinner in a comfortable atmosphere where good conversation is possible, this is a great choice.

Had not been back to the Raymond for several years. Menu was eclectic and food tastes were excellent. Outdoor patio closest to street still had acceptable noise level for normal conversation even with background music...which, by the way, was eclectic in itself.

Anything worth doing is always worth doing well. Once we found our way to this wonderful hidden treasure, it was pleasingly evident this is how The Raymond operates. From the wonderful intimate surroundings to the warm, friendly staff. The comfortable, home like atmosphere. To the absolutely luscious fare, our dining experience was incredible. This is definitely a place I will come back to so I can work my way completely through the menu. I can't wait until the adventure continues. Looking forward to introducing more friends to this great dining experience.

Dinner was most interesting. My companion and I ordered appetizers, 4 of them. All were good and interesting.Problem was most of it was finger food, and we needed those little warm moist washcloths to clean our hands. Would recommend that they offer those. Our waitress was very kind however and got us some napkins which had been moistened in warm water....worked fine. Most delicious was some form of Yellowtail still on the bone in a delicious sauce served with a cucumber salad. We also enjoyed the chicken wings, though difficult to eat as they were large and served intact. Would recommend this restaurant

Disappointing...... Rotten area, much too loud....service sketchy..... Burger well prepared, very rare as I requested......sweet potatoe fries burned.... Dessert old or stale, no one finished their meals..... There was a wedding party there, and apologies were made, but that did not make up for that it was a special occasion for my party as well. This restaurant came very highly recommended......ah well, on any given day I am sure it is better.

I periodically go to the Raymond when I need to have a nice meal in a great setting. The ambiance is top notch, and it is fairly quiet and conducive to conversation. As opposed to some of the larger restaurants in town, it has a good vibe. Having a top notch bar attached doesn't hurt. Whether its a dinner for two or for a small group, your privacy is always respected and service is swell. Whether I bring family or VIP clientele, I feel good about the place.

We finally made our way over for a Sunday brunch - reservations made the day before. The cute patio area seemed welcoming but we opted for air-condition and we were seated in the first dining room (where the air-condition is on full-tilt). Our server, Rebecca, was a sweetheart and when she found out it was our first time, offered recommendations and told us about the Raymond being a relaxing place for dinner, drinks and/or dessert. We ended up with German Pancakes, Ahi Sandwich, and an avocado salad - all were fresh and satisfying. Our drinks were constantly refilled and we felt at home in the home-turned-restaurant.

Our dinner experience was just a hair shy of perfect. The food was terrific and the ambiance and service were likewise excellent. I rated the overall experience as four star instead of five is that we told the restaurant it was for our wedding anniversary and asked, in advance, that they recommend and ideal table. The hostess had no idea what we were talking about when she said "where did we want to sit." There are multiple seating areas in the restaurant offering a different ambiance and we hoped they would know which was probably best for a couple on this special occasion.

We have been going here for years but this time our menu was dirty and literally falling apart (pages fell out), we had to go to the bar to get our own drink menu because service was slow, my salmon was overcooked and for $30ish it just wasn't worth it. We left very disappointed and won't be back for a while.

We were celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, a party of 25 was also celebrating something that night. Our reservation was for 7:30 . . .we ended up leaving at 10:30. I think our main course arrived around 10 pm. To the restaurant's credit, they did comp our appetizers (which arrived swiftly) but when everyone around us got their main courses (and they had come in after us) I finally told the waiter if we didn't get our mains within a 20 minute period we would need the check. The food is great and the specialized drinks at the bar are delicious and unique. If this wasn't a quick walk from our house, don't know if we would consider returning.

Had a brunch reservation and showed up about 10 minutes early. The hostess told us in a terse manner we'd have to wait in the bar even though there were many open tables and no one else waiting. We had an enjoyable drink with an amiable bartender and in about 25 minutes we were finally seated on a lovely patio. The waiter was very pleasant but would dissapear for long periods. The food was very good but slow to be delivered and we got no condiments (salt & pepper), no refill on the coffee, even though I asked twice. Members of the waitstaff would appear from time to time but it was difficult to get anyone's attention. The worst faux pas was the hostess redressing a table with the same tablecloth.

We have been to Raymond for many years and like their menu & food choices are always great. But this time the service was very slow we had to wait a long time to get our first course after ordering (at least half an hour). Also we noticed that carpet was so old & soiled and booth cushions were terrible, worn & torn. They should all be updated - What shame for a nice restaurant like this.

Made reservations for a Sunday afternoon at 12:45. We were sat at our table in a timely manner. I requested outdoor seating and we were accommodated with that. Service was quick and responsive and we placed our order rather promptly. The only thing lacking from the experience was how long it took the food to arrive. To the credit of the kitchen I will say it was during DineLA week and I noticed multiple very large tables. When the food arrived it was plated nicely and the quality of the meal was very good for the price. We will likely return for dinner sometime and would definitely recommend it to others.

The Raymond has changed write a bit over the years. The food has always been delicious and that remains true. The ambiance however has changed quite a bit. Before it was a quaint little house with a warm romantic feel. There was often a classical guitarist who played quietly in the corner of the main room. They have added a a large covered patio to accommodate more seating. On paper not a bad idea. Unfortunately, it is incongruous with the original house, much more modern "hip" feel. Now the house just feels old and tired. The service lacked as well. We were taken care of in a timely manner but we felt "processed" with no personal engagement. Sadly, we will not return anytime soon.

I hadn't been to the Raymond in a long time, didn't know what to expect. We were greeted by a sweet and genuine hostess who told us that one of the "best" tables was finished and would be clearing out, if we could wait. We did. Gorgeous outdoor seating with a fountain, tables aren't too close, servers were on top of refilling iced tea and water. It's DineLA week, so two of us order a salad first course and their version of BLT. Amazing, huge and flavorful. They use jalapeño bacon! Third person had a steak wrap which was good but mine was better. Owner Leslie personally stopped by and checked on us. Overall, a great midday meal in a beautiful garden.

I really wanted to like the Raymond … really! I'd been there once before and it was OK, but not great. I thought perhaps I had an off-night or they did, so after a year or so we went back. The wait staff was attentive, although too casually dressed. I don't know what this place is going for, menu-wise, but it's all over the map. Lots of Asian influences, some European, some American. Worse, the menu comes off as pretentious, with items like "beef cheeks" and "sea foam" & some ingredients I've never heard of … and I've heard of a LOT. I paid $150 for 2 with no wine, and was treated to a stomach upset soon after that I've now had for 2 days. With so many other great choices in Pasadena for the same money or less, we won't be going back.

The Raymond doesn't say anywhere on their site that they don't have a bathroom for the disabled. But when I saw it was around the patio up the stairs to a tiny hallway with round knob handled doors.... it was disappointing. The Americans with Disabilities Act turns 25 next year. We have many older citizen, Vetrans and everyday citizen that need these slight modification. And no they don't have a thing called grandfathered to not have to comply. I only bring this up because despite all the well prepared food, nice wait staff, if I can't take my parents here without genuine concern then honesty I would not recommend it to anyone. Its time we stop coming up with excuses & just comply. Guess I expected more from a place that can afford it.

I made the reservation about a month in advance for my parents 48th wedding anniversary, which the restaurant knew about. There were no acknowledgements of the occasion or attentive service that I had expected, especially when paying the prices that one pays at the restaurant. The evening was very disappointing. None of the wines that we wanted were available. The sommelier was not there and when my husband asked our waitress if there was any one else there to help us, she replied, "There's another waitress. I will see if she has the time to talk to you." When there are so many other options available for dinner, is this the response you want? Very disappointing service and the food was fair. Not recommended.

When we first got to The Raymond we were excited..... it was old and charming and just up our alley. We sat on the patio to the right, which was nice. The staff was fantastic, and the food was okay. Nothing extraordinary. My husband had the cobb salad which was good, but not amazing. My son and daughter had a great breakfast egg dish which was with beans on a tortilla with sauce and that was probably the standout item. The pancakes were good but not exceptional and the kobe burger was good as well. So, all in all ......the food was good, but we all said that we wouldn't run back.

The food quality has diminished over the years and the wait time to get our food from the time we ordered took over 45 min. And it wasn't even busy that morning. Inside had residual smell of paint until an hour or so after the air conditioning cooled the room. Got a table at the small back patio. Right behind the hedge was the dumpster that belonged to the apartment next door so foul smell occadionslly wafted in when the wind blew. The main patio just outside the entrance is probably best. Disappointing for the price.
