Diner Reviews
  • "I've been to the Ranch several times. I've had nothing but excellent service and fantastic food! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the Southern California area. The servers are top notch too!"

  • "The Ranch was perfect for a great meal at the restaurant, and the Saloon was awesome as well after dinner. The ribeye is a must!"

  • "We fully enjoyed our anniversary dinner at the Ranch. Everything was as promised and expected - fresh, vibrant, creative food, cooked to perfection with superb service. Our waiter Aaron is a credit to the Ranch and his service was definitely standout. He was informative and helpful, with a sincere interest in food and making sure we had a great experience. We really loved the broad use of the Ranch's locally farmed produce - really shines in every dish and in the cocktails! Nice wine list -really appreciated that we could get a great 1/2 bottle of Pinot Noir(Rex Hill) as we can't really have a cocktail and a whole bottle of wine and still drive."

  • "I have been at many fine dining restaurants around the globe but never had the opportunity to find one literally minutes from my house. The Ranch restaurant it's by far best dining experience I've ever had. from the very first greeting and the perfect atmosphere to the ranch very own new York Carolina cut and the fresh you can taste ingredients used throughout the diner. a masterpiece, perfectly designed by the chef and delivered by very knowledgeable and friendly staff, very very hard to match. Incomparable!!"

  • "I had the lobster and my husband had the prime rib. The lobster cost twice as much, but the prime rib was much better. Also it wasn't clear either on the menu or by the waiter that sides came with the entrees, so we ordered two of the side dishes. It turns out the separately ordered side dishes were far superior to the ones that came with the entrees but we had enough food for an army. It was the most expensive dinner we've had anywhere so bring lots of money. It's a very classy restaurant. Leave the kids at home. Get a babysitter for this one."

  • "Server got really in the weeds. Lots of suits standing around. Still recommend because of the food."

  • "We asked our 15 year old son where he would like to go to celebrate his birthday. Fortunately for his father and I, he chose THE RANCH. Yes, he went "big" and ordered the giant Cowboy Ribeye, but it's worth every penny. Our waiter Deryck was fantastic and all of the food was delicious!"

  • "The restaurant was lovely & the service excellent. However the food was a huge disappointment. We ordered the heirloom tomato salad special for that evening. The large tomato slices were tasteless and the dish was $17. We also ordered the prime rib, not on the menu. The meat looked beautiful, was tender & juicy, and had absolutely no meat flavor. In sum the food was BLAH! We will not return nor recommend."

  • "The food & service is great! What keeps us coming back is the filet. It is consistently good every visit & blows Ruth Chris & Morton's filets out of the water. My husband loved the chipolte margaritas. We will be back soon!"

  • "Brought a friend here for a birthday celebration. It was great ! I requested a table in the main dining room and was happy to see that we were accomodated. Food was fantastic, ambience was cool and our waiter even brought out a free dessert for my friend. After dinner we went next door to the saloon, which is an experience in itself ! Already planning my next visit here :)"

  • "The Ranch is now one of my new favorite for special occasions. The vibe was lively; the menu, impressive. And the home made ice creams were to die for."

  • "Love this Farm to table. The Food was wonderful. Had the Chef's Five course or $65. A great deal with great food."

  • "For the price you cannot beat the quality of food and service. I have been to other 5 star restaurants in Orange County and they are more expensive and less quality of food."

  • "We truly enjoyed our dinner. Everything served was delicious especially the prime rib. Portions were very large and now that we know there is not a split charge, we will dine more often at The Ranch."

  • "This was my second time here, the food is always excellent, great service. My husband and I shared the cowboy steak, it was fresh and cooked perfectly. The appetizers are also great, love the Carpaccio and the jumbo shrimp.A place to recommend to friends and family."

  • "Best steakhouse in So Cal! Phone reservation hostesses are wonderfully kind, very welcoming greeting from the minute you step into The Ranch, great and attentive service from a very knowledgeable staff, excellent food, prepared and presented beautifully (including dessert!) Can't wait for our next So Cal visit so we can dine here again."

  • "We arrived early for our 6:30 reservation, but was seated right away. Once seated, we didn't have to wait to long to be greeted by our waitress. Nicole was very helpful with the menu. She told us what was new, and what the specialties were. We chose to share the "Cowboy steak", a 59 oz. bone-in rib eye that came with a side of potato au gratin. We also chose a side of creamed corn and green beans in mushroom sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium, as we liked it). The service was excellent (our glasses were never empty, and we never had to request for refill.) The waiter even helped take our picture. Overall, dining experience was great."

  • "The food was very good and the service was excellent. Their ingredients are fresh and the flavors are incredible. They use their own home grown vegetables and the chef does magic with them. If you go to the restaurant for dinner your waiter will walk you over to the night club for free admission if you want to dance the rest of the evening. I highly recommend this place!"

  • "The online reservation part was new to me. I wish we could have inquired about a friend who works there. The service was over the top. The food was excellent, we loved the amazing fresh vegetables. The atmosphere relaxing, and very professional. Kind of a mix between country and Dallas (the TV show). I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. We will be back to try other dishes."

  • "We've come to this restaurant several times now and have had great experiences and just so so experiences. This time it was great! I think that they are really focusing on outstanding service, impeccable food and all details to be just right. We saw several glasses polished so that they sparkled on the table before a guest arrived. Very determined to make an impression on each and every guest. This may be our "go-to" restaurant for a night out. Let's see!"

  • "The service is wonderful at The Ranch and so is the food. Kelly, our main server, and all those who assisted were timely and helpful. The food is delicious, especially like the scalloped potatoes. The heirloom tomato salad was great. The booths feel very private and are perfect for a romantic dinner. They treated us with dessert for my wife's birthday. It was a wonderful dining experience!"

  • "We had a wonderful experience at the Ranch last Saturday! We probably eat here every few months and have never had a bad or disappointing meal. The staff are extremely attentive but not hovering and the meal was well paced; we never felt rushed. As always the food presentation was beautiful! My petite filet was cooked exactly the way I like my meat "Pittsburgh Style". Deryck, our waiter, asked if we were celebrating a special event, we mentioned it was our anniversary and when he brought the dessert menu he said we could choose almost anything from the menu to share and it would be compliments of the restaurant. We choose the fruit crostata and were not disappointed. As always, a great meal!"

  • "We ordered the Cowboy Ribeye and loved it! We had enough for my husband to have a wonderful steak sandwich the next day."

  • "Eating here the other night was very delectable and fun. I got the summer chef's menu and it was fabulous. It started with a perfectly stuffed and fried zucchini blossom and ended with a lovely tres leches cake with peach sabayon and raspberry sorbet. The service by our server, Nancy, was wonderful. She was very informative, attentive, and nice. The water guy... he was very present, filling up our water glasses. Unfortunately, everytime he refilled mine, he kept spilling water onto the table. This was very annoying. We had a 5:30pm reservation but as the meal went on, the restaurant became more lively and spirited with more people dining. Of course I'd come here again. I cannot wait!"

  • "The only complaints we had were the "very hot, right out of the oven" popovers were cold and the wine pour was very stingy...don't these places make enough on their mark-ups per bottle? Now they are shorting the customers with smaller pours? My son in law made a comment, he was told it was their customary pour but a staff member came back and topped off his glass to a fair level. The entrees were excellent but the side of mixed grilled vegetables were just chunks of limp eggplant swimming in oil. None of us ate them."

  • "We recently went to The Ranch for my wife's birthday. It was our third time to the restaurant and we had a great time once again. We were right across from the bar and the noise level was minimal. We love this restaurant for both the service and the food. The wait staff is extremely attentive but we never felt rushed. We tend to order a large number of courses to experience as many flavors as possible. This time we opted out of the Cowboy Ribeye to sample other menu selections and we were not disappointed. We really loved the flavors of the Heirloom Tomato Salad and the Steamed and Grilled Artichoke. We have not been disappointed with any of our food choices to date. We look forward to coming back again."

  • "I had high hopes, the ambiance was great, wine list was impressive, organic mixed tomato salad with 8 types of tomatoes from "the Farm" amazing, but the New York strip was just ok, the sauce on the plate was a little on the salty side. Super nice place, but I was expecting a better steak, at least on a par with Ruth's Chris. I'd go back & try something else, maybe a special or the $99 ribeye that they are famous for, but given the write up & my expectation I'm slightly dissapointed that it wasn't one of the great steaks of my life"

  • "Ummmmmmm. this thing is monstrous and totally worth every penny. Also, the grilled artichoke, my wife and I ended up ordering two in a row because it was probably one of the most flavorful things we have ever tasted."

  • "This place was perfect to celebrate our anniversary, the food was excellent, the ambiance was romantic. The cheese cake was the best!"
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "The food did not reach anyone's expectations in my party. My father and I ordered the Ranch's famous cowboy ribeye. The menu clearly states that ribeye contains " 36-40 oz. of Meat, 8 oz. of Fat and 14 oz. of Bone". I wish that I could upload a picture of the ribeye we received. Well over the 8 oz. of fat advertised. We mentioned this to the waiter who claimed that this was normal; however upon browsing the multitudes of ribeye pictures on yelp, not one had the level of fat we received. The other three in our party mirrored my level of disappointment. The short ribs were fatty and the filet had very little flavor. Were we not socially-conscious individuals, all four of us would have sent back our dishes."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Side dishes limited. In comparison with Ruth Chris I'd rather go there. Sides are better at Ruth's. Steak is more flavorful at Ruth's. By the time you order a steak, salad and side your are at 60 + at this Ranch. And for that price the taste just wasn't there."

  • "I've heard about the Ranch here and there and was always interested in trying it out. My hubby and I finally made it there for our Anniversary dinner and we could have not picked a better restaurant for our special occasion! The atmosphere and decor is top notch- upscale but cozy. I'd explain the menu as Steakhouse meets Farm-to-Table. There were so many unique and fresh options on the menu, we had a hard time choosing. My husband ended up with a filet mignon (one of his favorite meals in general), and he raved that it was one of the best filets he has had in a really long time. My vegetarian entree was super delicious! We loved the artichoke appetizer and homemade ice cream dessert options. All courses were memorable!"

  • "The Ranch, is a combination of straight farm freshness with elegant chef presentation & parings. We requested service from Aaron, a waiter with sommelier lingo and jester'ish rapport. The dinners are as deep and rich as the dark woods and leather of the restaurant. Although pricey, The Ranch delivers on taste and style, appealing to a cacophony of OC public. Great for people watching, romantic setting, and dance bar scene."

  • "If you haven't been to the ranch....GO!! The flavors they bring out of every dish are an experience that everyone should enjoy. In addition to the Ranch they offer an upscale Saloon next door featuring nightly country western music and dancing. We really enjoyed spending our anniversary at The Ranch."
