The Ranch RestaurantMy newest favorite restaurantThis was a great experience. I can't wait to bring my friends. The food was delicious, creative and well portioned. Our service was excellent and the waiter made sure that we were able to leave on time for our concert which was just minutes away at Honda Center. A winner in my book.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience. Note thatGreat experience. Note that the Saloon and the restaurant are separate and each has its own vibe.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFine Dining! We decided to try the Ranch after Mr. Stox closed. The interior is very nice and romantic. They have booths and tables - a large dining area with spots that feel intimate. The service was excellent - perfectly done without being stuffy and they were very attentive even when a large table came in. The food was excellent. My husband's filet was fork tender and my braised ribs were as well. The chef's soup was perfectly done. It is fairly expensive and the portions not large but again very good.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBen Cartwright would be proudFirst time customer to The Ranch. What an OUTSTANDING steakhouse. Absolutely beautiful decor of woods and earth tones, very upscale "ranch" furnishings. Service was perfect, outstanding menu and excellent wine list. Now for the best part, we ordered the $89 bone-in rib eye. The bone is about a foot long, huge portion of beef that is cut away from the bone and then cut into thick slices, perfectly seasoned. This hunk of meat will feed three. Comes with a wonderful side of potatoes and bread. Order their personal garden fresh roasted vegetables, outstanding. I am a Morton's, Ruth's Chris etc, prime beef eater and I will tell you, i have never had a ribeye steak that remotely was as tender as our steak. It was like eating butter.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest restaurant in the USAI've been here a couple time for business - it's where we take our very best clients when possible. I just went with my wife on Thursday to celebrate our wedding anniversary and The Ranch did not disappoint. Everything about the night was perfect - from the time I made the reservation until the moment we left - first class all the way. The service is attentive but not disruptive - very helpful and experienced staff. And the food... WOW. I had the short rib which was out of this world. My wife had the farm vegetables and was blown away. I can't recommend this place highly enough. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. If you want to celebrate a very special night, do it here. You won't be disappointed.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCame here this week for myCame here this week for my first time to celebrate my birthday. Great service! Amazing food, lovely wine selection. I cannot wait to come back soon!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial Birthday DinnerThe Ranch Restaurant believes in pampering their guests. The hostess immediately wished my wife a Happy Birthday, and greeted our 13 year old daughter as she walked us to our table. Our booth location was exactly what we requested with three place settings that matched our reservations (very impressive). Our Server's knowledge of the wine list was outstanding as he steered my wife toward a wonderful selection, and insured the choice was perfect by offering two generous samples. Then it came to ordering the food..........once again, the Server was very knowledgeable about each item on the menu. In summary, The Ranch is simply the best, they simply get it! Look no further if you want a great experience.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA great findBecause of its location you wouldn't think the restaurant would be so good, my wife and I tried it and can't wait to go back. Service and food was awesome.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent with exceptionOur first visit to the Ranch, we noticed on the menu an enormous steak, the Cowboy Ribeye, definitely a share . The steak arrived perfectly cooked, medium rare, and with a side of au gratin potatoes that were also perfectly cooked. Our reason for the exception is the Caesar Salad. This was the most pitiful example of a Caesar I have ever tasted. I think it is called a Caesar for the anchovies they throw on top. Terrible. However, our served noticed we were not happy, asked us if there was a problem, and brought us the chopped salad which was a great example of that salad. Take the Caesar off the menu or learn how to make one. The staff was well trained in guest relations, even though we hated the Caesar, they made it right, we left happy.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBack for more!Once again a fabulous evening of food, wine and good times. I don't think we can go without ordering the gnocchi for starters, Lucy Pinot Rose was a well priced perfectly matched wine for everything we ordered (ranging from soft crab, artichoke, salmon, pork chops, ribs, steak and veggies). Everyone on staff was incredibly welcoming and informed on the menu and wine selections. Last but not least, three words --- Popcorn Ice Cream - ok, two more words --- Thank You!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant!Loved this place. Amazing food and definitely would go back. A real gem.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat!Great service! We went for our anniversary and when we were greeted they wished us a happy anniversary. The recommended dish was amazing (rib eye with a side of scalloped potatoes)! It was a very romantic setting with a nice wine selection. They also gave us a dessert on the house for our anniversary. We ordered butternut squash soup, rib eye with scalloped potatoes, a glass of wine, and the PB & J Chocolate bar for dessert. The price was not bad either, the bill came out to around $120 for both of us! I will definitely return.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was incredible. TheThe food was incredible. The waitress, Nicole C. was a pure delight. She was probably one of the best servers that I have ever had. Everyone from the hostess to the waitress to the wine steward, made our whole evening special.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentEvery bite was delicious, fresh & flavorful. From the bread on the table to the dessert at the end of the meal. New York Strip with the potato's are to die for. What a great find.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favs!It is fine dining and you generally get what you pay for; however, our server was having an off night and we felt she was somewhat rushed or stressed. We've not experienced this prior to our last visit at the Ranch. Appetizer taken away before completed (one of our plates); had to ask for another wine glass (we had both white and red), the recommended oysters were so small that they were more the size of clams in the shell-- would not order that again. We were celebrating our anniversary with another couple at the table. My husband surprised me with two bottles of their wines, one being a 1996 pinot noir from a favorite wine maker. Had to swap it out for the correct one he paid for!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and Line Dancing to bootIf you are looking for a great meal, caring service and lovely ambience, the Ranch Restaurant is your kind of place. When dinner is over ask if you can visit the Ranch Saloon which is located next door. It is a Saloon which might remind you of Gillis's but, it is much better with line dancing, delicious snacks and great liquid libations. What more can one ask for in one evening.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful EveningThis was our second time to The Ranch Restaurant and the food and service was fabulous once again. It was a special evening "Mothers Day" and Mom made the choice to drive from Newport to Anaheim for the occasion. We couldn't have selected a better restaurant to spend time together as a family. Mom and one of our boys selected the Chef's menu and the food and presentation were wonderful. I ordered the chopped salad followed by the Chilean Sea Bass, both which I thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you for a wonderful evening and we're all looking forward to our next visit to The Ranch.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMmy first time to this restaurant.my first time to this restaurant. After waiting while for our appetizer the waiter notice that it was taking longer than usual we had almost every manager and server at our table apologizing they comped the appetizer and then they brought us chef samples on the house they more than compensated for their mistake great food great service would recommend it to anybody5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner at The RanchWe had a wonderful family dinner with great food and wine.
We waited on our food a little too long, but it was a busy night and it was well worth the wait.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Experience!Had a business dinner on a Tuesday night and it was an allaround wonderful experience. Our server was amazing. Very knowledgeable and well spoken. Provided great recommendations and timely service. Cocktails were fabulous (we tried the cucumber with elderflower martini and the lavendar lemon drop). For an appetizer we tried the pop-overs and they were amazing. Our meals were all cooked to perfection (Lamb, Filet and NY Strip). Dessert was presented well and had a variety of textures (milky way).
We will be back and we will recommend to others!
Great place in an unexpected location.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAll was fantastic. A smallAll was fantastic. A small side note: Make sure assistant waiters do not remove utensils while bread etc. is still being enjoyed.
Cheers5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMNot an office buildingDrove right past thinking this was an office building. Once you walk through the door you are transported to an upscale cowboy ranch. It is warm, friiendly and impressive. The most notable food items are the onion soup and Chilean sea bass, best we have ever eaten. Large portions beautifully plated. Perfect set-up to accomodate group dining.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible service and ambience!Incredible service and ambience! We ordered the ceasar salad (a little large and too leafy) and the prime rib special. The meat was cooked perfectly and I still am dreaming of those white chedder scalloped potatoes...yum! We topped it off with two scoops of homemade ice cream which the Manager suggested (and even knew all of the current flavors!) when stopping by the table. Thank you for an amazing evening, we will definitely be back :)5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat fiodThe food was amazing. I can't imagine a better better place to go eat especially for special occasions. Very romantic atmosphere.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMour visit to the ranchmy wife and i went to the ranch for her birthday. the dinner was one of the best we have ever had anywhere.we travel alot to other cities across the country on vacation but its great to find a gem so close too home. the only down fall was when we were escorted to the lounge by one of the managers were we met with four of our other friends . as we walk in towards the bar we noticed all the tables had reserved signs on them i asked if he knew anything about that he said he had talked to the bar manager and he was told the tables are resered long in advance. i called a few days before and spoke to a lady named amanda regarding a cover charge and was told there is a cover charge for non dineing guests it was $ 10.00 after 8:oopm5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, my meal at TheAs always, my meal at The Ranch was great. We went there to celebrate my birthday and most of the food was delicious! I was so hoping they'd have their prime rib entree available and it was! Sadly, it (and the au jus) were a bit on the cold side and that took away from the pleasantry of eating this hunk of meat that I was drooling months for. The green bean casserole plus that potato gratin were knocked out of the ballpark; they were so scrumptious!
And, ooh... to end my meal? The complementary birthday dessert I got to pick! Is it the sticky toffee pudding? That bread pudding was off the charts and I want some more right now :-)
Thank you for a lovely time!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding service and food.Outstanding service and food. We came from out of town and enjoyed it so much Friday night we went back the next night. Highly recommended.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Ranch like no otherWhen one of our long time favorite restaurants (Mr. Stox) recently closed after many years in business, the ownership of Mr. Stox referred its patrons to The Ranch. This was our first visit to the The Ranch to try it out and I'm pleased to say that the experience was awesome. The restaurant is beautiful and the setting is elegant but inviting. The appetizers and entrees were excellent as was the service. Although the restaurant is located a few blocks away from the Disneyland area restaurant scene, it is definitely a find worth seeking out. You might expect a restaurant named The Ranch to be located in a ranch style building, but this restaurant is actually located on ground floor of a high-rise building. Try it; you'll like it!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for a date! I littleGreat for a date! I little on the expensive side but its well worth it. Great ambiance, country/western feel good spot.
The Saloon section was also awesome! full bars! line dancing etc.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AM5 Star RanchWhen we could not get a reservation at the The Studio at the Montage we decided to try this restaurant. It has been suggested to us by a few people so we decided to give it a shot. We celebrated a couple of birthdays and the experience was great from beginning to the end. The restaurant's staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive to our table. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the preset menu with the wine pairings which was excellent! This was a great dinning experience and we can't wait to go back.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for a romantic evening.Celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary at The Ranch Restaurant. Had never been there before and went on a friend's recommendation. We're sure glad we did. The service was outstanding, the meal was delicious and the setting was perfect for our romantic event.
Our server helped us with by-the-glass wine selections that suited our different tastes. My wife had the New York steak and I enjoyed the BBQ spare ribs. We shared both and loved each bite. The vegetables served with the entree and the side we ordered were fantastic - the server said they were grown on the restaurant's "farm". It sure tasted like they were fresh picked.
We had a great time and will definitely be back. And we had fun dancing in the Saloon next door afterwa4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great SurpriseIt was a special occasion for my wife and she loves steak and prime rib so we decided to try The Ranch Restaurant. We arrived for our reservation (recommended) a little early and were greeted cordially and seated right away even though the restaurant was full, and our server appeared immediately with menus and recommendations, all of which were excellent.
The food and service were both also truly at a five star level! We had the Prime Rib and both commented that it was the best we had ever had, with extremely generous servings of everything at a reasonable cost.
We are planning to make dinner at the Ranch a regular event and would recommend it highly.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Ranch - it couldn't be better!A year old, but clearly the top restaurant in Southern California. Exec Chef Michael Rossi is a culinary genius. They are fortunate also to have Michael Jordan, Master Sommelier. Foodies love this team. I had a prime beef, perfectly cooked, the heritage beet salad, my favorite, and my guest and I both had the Scuna bay salmon wrapped in a spectacular avacado overcoat. the team won a James Beard foundation award for this dish in New York last month. I hope it will always be a permanent item in the menu. As always, We start with magnificent Popovers - exactly like my Italian Grandma made when I was a child. I am a restaurant freak constantly checking top chefs. The Ranch is unbeatable in California. Service is impeccable.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food, loved theLoved the food, loved the service. Everyone was nice and knew the menu well. Our waiter was awesome! Thanks everyone at the Ranch! We had a great time.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing ExperienceThe food was amazing. The service was great. It was my girlfriends birthday and the waitstaff and hostess made her feel very special. I will be recommending The Ranch to everyone.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA very nice restaurant. TheA very nice restaurant. The hostess was very pleasant and worked to seat us early. My honey and I split the cowboy rib eye (36-40 oz's) which was delicious with our side dish of creamed spinach.
My only "down check" would be the noise of the main room. Request a booth that is to the right of the bar; it is much quieter. We will definitely be back one night!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Mr. Stox replacement spotSecond trip to the restaurant within a week. Our new fav spot since Mr. Stox closed.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough an unexpected locationAlthough an unexpected location for a fine dining restaurant, the Ranch more than fills the bill. The menu is limited but changes with the seasons and depends on fresh ingredients. It should not be mistaken for a traditional "steak house", although the steaks are fine. It has excellent other entrees. The service is attentive and friendly, as are the managers whoare well trained in the business. Mr Stox diners are especially welcome.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Great RestaurantGreat food, great restaurant. Nice find now that Mr. Stox is no longer. We will be going back!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThis dinner was absolutelyThis dinner was absolutely fantastic. This restaurant would receive my vote for one of the best in Orange County. The food and service were both superb.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWent here for my husband'sWent here for my husband's birthday. The appetizers are unique and very delicious. Had escargot, rabbit with gnocci, butternut squash soup and salmon roll. All were delish! For dinner we had chilean sea bass, prime rib, new york steak which were all good. Best part was the dessert! We had Milky way and PB and J. Both were the best tasting dessert I ever tasted and even better because one of them was free for my husband's birthday.
Ambiance is very nice and upscaled even though it's located in an industrial area and the service is excellent.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA great experience. The foodA great experience. The food is amazing and the ambience is both formal yet comfortable. The service is very good, well informed but a little slow.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great find!We were in town for a conference and found The Ranch through OpenTable. We were not disappointed. The night we were there is was pretty empty; which is too bad. The food was phenomenal--tasty, fresh and plentiful. We were four people and had 4 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, 4 sides and 4 deserts and walked away stuffed paying less than $250 with tip. Standouts include the escargot, short ribs, pork chop, popovers, roasted snow peas, mac & cheese and peanut butter and jelly desert. But everything was worth eating, and worth going back for.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Butternut Squash SoupThe Butternut Squash Soup (Seasonal) was divine. Started with the Ceviche Trio which has three absolutley distinct and delicious flavors for the palate. After dinner they even gave us a Creme Brulee on the house for our anniversary. Very nice restaraunt with great service.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent server. Some ofExcellent server. Some of the food was good and some not so great.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGive your review a title (optional)Another great meal at this gem. I've never been disappointed with any selection. The only sad note is the corkage fee is now $25.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI was very surprised at itsI was very surprised at its location, although through Yelp many people noted it was in an industrial area of Ball Road. Definitely loved the parking lot having both valet and self parking. The wait when we got in was very quick since we had reservations.
Waitress and staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make the occasion special for my husband's birthday. That and the awesome food really made our evening special.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
