A word from The Purple Room
In the early 60s Palm Springs’ Purple Room at Club Trinidad became the sweet spot of the swinging supper club scene. Cats like Frank and Dino hung with their pals to eat, drink play. The Purple Room re-opens with its pedigree legacy in mind. We embrace the style, the carefree and creative spirit of that era. With a nod to its history, we will be making history of our own. We are one of two original Rat Pack hang outs left in the desert today. We have brought back the style and class of the purple room, offering quality entertainment for the desert. Like our big brother,TRIO Restaurant, it’s a local favorite a place where you can come in feel at home.

Celebrity sightings. You never know who will be at the PR, so we ask that you allow our guests to enjoy themselves.

What happens at The Purple Room … Stays at The Purple Room.

It’s where Palm Springs Plays!

Diner Reviews
  • "After reading many reviews about horrible food, we went to dinner and "Comedy Night" with low expectations. The food was just okay...not as bad as many reviews say. I had spinach salad and my partner had a wedge. Both were drenched in too much dressing. This will never be a place where we'll want to go and have dinner again. The room was crowded and loud making it difficult to have a quiet conversation at the table. In addition, I just don't like to valet park and there isn't much available parking nearby. We parked on a side street and walked several blocks."

  • "The live music was a bit loud, but the atmosphere was fun and party-like. We would go back, but we wouldn't expect to carry on much of a conversation with our companions. It's a nice change from the usual Palm Springs restaurants."

  • "We had a great 3 course price fix meal with lots of great choices while listening to live jazz. The bar and restaurant scene is vibrant and classy with outstanding service. This was our first time and we will be back soon. Enjoy!!"

  • "Group of picky 13 women--1 failure. The wait staff: professional, accommodating. We raved about the food/superior service. I had the "small bite" plate of (5) ribs, a meal-worthy portion of tender, done-to-perfection, 'deliciosities' I wish DH could duplicate); split a spinach salad, sides of roasted brussels sprouts, sweet potato fries. Salad was"pre-split" in the kitchen. WOW! Delicious w/lots of feta! Sprouts were too large=only minus. Sweet potato fries made up for the shortcoming; fried to an OMG delicate crispness. One in our party had the duck quarter confit and complained of it being fat (but delicious). HELLO? Others had Ahi, Salmon, & Rib-Eye entrees and raved! Entertainment? FUN and what a group virtuosos! Gand Band YAY!"

  • "Great service and excellent 3 course earlybird menu"

  • "The Purple Room offers regular and early bird specials with lots of good choices with a Southern slant. Our choices were Veggie Cerviche, Spring Green Salad, blackened catfish, pasta alfredo with prawns and bread pudding. We were very satisfied with our choices. Service is friendly. There is live music later in the evening. They have a very popular bar scene. Attractive room, living up to its name. Only complaint is that very cold air conditioning came on and stayed on throuhout our meal. We had to put our jackets on. We live in the desert because we light it warm! We will go back again, but during cooler weather when AC shouldn't be needed."

  • "The Purple Room reminds so much of Ronnie Scot's Jazz Club in London. Great atmosphere with some excellent musicians and vocalists. Food is excellent and service outstanding. Really glad to have this gem in the neighborhood."

  • "As always, food and service were beyond outstanding. However, in the future will be careful where we are seated ... We had a terrible location behind the posts and closest to the host stand. There also was a very loud group standing inches a way from our table as they waited for theirs. We were trying to celebrate a 10th anniversary and the environment was a bit spoiled. I get not everyone can have a great table, but most of the tables by the stage were empty the entire time and all the behind the post tables were occupied. We made reservations weeks in advance so expected better. Will return for the food / service, but will be more picky about where we are seated in the future.."

  • "Being Palm Springs locals we pick our favorites and return again and again. The Purple Room is always a fun treat. Fabulous crafted drinks, great service, fab food...all in a 60s space where the ceiling is coved, the popcorn ceiling still sparkles, huge murals the rat pack members adorn the walls...and best of all, they employees remember you and welcome you back."

As they sat as down right away my wife & are friends told me I like what you pick for tonights event. The place felt cozy, the staff were really friendly & the service was excellent. No dought I would tell the rest of my friend to go & hang out @ the purple room. GREAT PLACE!"

  • "My guests and I really enjoyed the vibe and entertainment at the Purple Room. In my opinion, and others at my table, the decor is a little "off" as there is very little "purple" to be seen so it's odd that the restaurant is named the purple room. The entertainment was fantastic and a great reason to go regardless of anything else. Service was great but the food was mediocre at best. Deviled eggs appetizer was barely edible, I don't know how they messed this up. Fried oysters were in a thick and tough corndog batter, not a light cornmeal coating as described. Pork chops were tough and the sweet potato mash were different and had a dark/odd color. I had the bone in ribeye that was tasty and tender."

  • "The Judy Show was absolutely fantastic and was worth every penny and the cocktails were fabulous . . Overall the food, service and entertainment made it a night for us to remember our stay in Palm Springs ."

  • "The best customer service anyone could ask for. The host, Tom, is very accommodating and pleasant. The waiters and bus people are energetic and hard workers."

  • "it seemed there was only one waitress working the tables behind the bar and she was overwhelmed. it took us over an hour to get our food and even then, the salad we ordered came at the same time as the entrees. No glass of wine that was ordered for when the meal came ever appeared BUT we were charged for it! (Which we did have taken off the bill.) Once the food came, it was delicious but the service aspect of this dining experience leaves a lot to be desired!"

  • "It's exciting to have a restaurant in the Palm Springs area that not only has good food and great entertainment. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. The Porkchop was outstanding, can't wait to go back and have it again. The band playing that night was fantastic. If you want quiet and intimate this is not the place to be. I would highly recommend this restaurant to my friends and family and can't wait to go back again. Good job."

  • "What was kind of a random pick ended up being one of the best NYEs ever. The vibe was solid & lively with a fixed priced menu and unlimited Champagne. Service from Mandy made the night memorable (great job Mandy). Food was outstanding...I had the lamb chops. Will definitely be back to once again enjoy the Gand Band (and for those of you with Chicago roots, lots of dots to connect including the band and the owner). Lastly, great dessert. Comment on the Gand Band- loads of fun, definitely an old school vibe with dinner and dancing. The location of the Purple Room is in an older hotel. Don't let that scare you away. These guys have done a great job! Am going to try a regular weekend night next time I am back in the desert."

  • "Service, food, drinks and entertainment are four things we completely enjoyed Saturday night. How often does one get four out if four ? Also being greeted by Tony by name always makes me feel very welcome either at PR or Trio."

  • "Enjoy a piece of Palm Springs history at this rat pack hangout revised. Great music and crowd for dancing. If you can see the Gand Band with rotating vocalists and hear everything from standards to Hendrix. Truly versatile band. Signature cocktais named for the stars who drank them. Food also upgraded from the classics. The herring app and colossal shrimp worth a try. The baby spinach salad and lamb rack also very good. And don't miss the salted caramel pot au creme to finish a wonderful evening of food and music. They don't often make them like they used to but the Purple room merges old and new seamlessly. Great place."

  • "Our 4th time back to the Purple Room! Great every time! Love the Gand Band and their arsenal of superb special guests! The service staff is lovely and the TRIO food delightful. The ribs are finger licking good! Blackened Catfish super flavourful! And the martinis are outstanding! We'll be back!!"

  • "The poor entertainers! they wanted folks to listen. Folks wanted to eat. Wonderful food - the shrimp/grits were to DIE for. Excellent cocktails. Loud music right in your face. Go early to eat, then either stay to listen to music or leave if you want to have any sort of conversation with anyone."

  • "If you have been to Trio, you will find a similar menu, with a good variety. The food is not the attraction, however. If you are in the mood for music, and loud, it is the perfect place. It is a very mixed crowd but generally older. Fun evening, palatable food and lively. Just don't try to speak to anyone, including your waiter!"

  • "We went because of previous reviews and overall we were not disappointed. The only issue we had, was there was a mix up early and had to wait extra time to be served. They recognized their mistake and insisted on giving us 2 drinks for dinner. We were fine with that. Music was excellent and so was the food. They usually have older jazz music and that is perfect for us. I don't think the group in their 20's would appreciate this, and that is also fine with us."

  • "Great food- great music- great staff! Positively a royal purple success!"

  • "Food was shockingly poor! Soggy salads, mushy salmon, tasteless vegetables. Although the musical group is good - the music is ear splittingly loud and conversation is out of the question."

  • "The food is fun and tasty, the vibe is terrific, and the service outstanding! Cris (our waiter) made us feel like regulars even tho it was our first time. Tom gave us the best table in the house. The music - great! We enjoyed it so much we went back the next night! True Palm Springs!"

  • "We liked the Trio Restaurant and The Purple Room, owned by the same people. Some of the food items are similar. The soy/vegetarian ceviche is outstanding. It's clearly a hot spot for young people. Management and wait staff made us feel very welcomed."

  • "We were looking for something fun and unique to Palm Springs. We found it! What a great time! From the moment the maître de greeted us at the door, we knew we were in for a fun night. If you're lucky enough to get a table near the stage, you'll be set for a great show as well. We didn't come for the food, but I'd say it was actually very good. Loved the thousand island wedge!!!!!!! We also had the sloppy joe sliders, ahi tuna, pasta and ceviche. All got good to great reviews at the table. At the end of the day, it's always the people that make the difference. Our servers, Mandy and Danielle were exceptional. Attentive and fun, what more can you ask for?!!!! :). Tonight we were treated to the Gand Band. They were top notch. We'll come back!"

  • "We decided to check out the Purple Room because it's just 5 minutes from home and we'd read some great reviews about the food and music. We weren't disappointed. They have live music 5 nights of the week. We were there for a late dinner on a Friday and the Gand Band was playing. The show was great. Ideal for dancing. The food was excellent too, although I thought the portion size was a little small on the gumbo. We had a bottle of malbec that was reasonably priced and overall we had a great Friday night. The band stopped at midnight which I assume is related to noise restrictions in a residential area. They also have valet parking! We'll definitely be back."

  • "Upon arrival, I was disappointed to find no one to greet me at the door….no mâitre d'. The other thing that was disappointing was the noise. It was so loud we could barely make ourselves heard between the patrons and the live music, this was not what I had expected. When I went back to the front of the restaurant to find the mâitre d', I was shocked to see a man with a greasy pony, huge stomach hidden by an oversized, short sleeved shirt…..untucked…..and a rather unattractive tattoo creeping down from under the sleeve. Hardly the image I'd have thought the Purple Room owners, given the rooms chick past, would want to portray. But, I'm obviously wrong. Food was just ok and staff, at times, hard to track down. Don't think I'll be going back."

  • "FOOD - St. Louis Ribs/Shrimp & Goat Cheese Grits/Roasted Brussel Sprouts - EXCELLENT! I would have prefered the Brussel Sprouts were par-boiled or roasted longer; Mussels weren't available; A limited but nice selection of champagnes & sparkling wines. SERVICE - Very attentive, mostly good at anticipating our needs but a few times I was looking for help in vain. I asked our waiter a simple question about bottle sizes. He clearly didn't know the answer but tried applying fake-knowledge--a BIG turnoff. AMBIENCE - Stimulating, fun & clubby. I'd love to see the plastic outdoor chairs replaced. NOISE: Very social & energetic atmosphere. Forget conversing once the live perfomrance starts--it's a nightclub! I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO GO BACK!"

  • "The owners of Trio in Palm Springs have opened the Purple Room to mixed reviews from our friends. We decided to try it our ourselves and were quite surprised. The food is a step up from Trio and if you're into sharing a ton of small plates then this place is for you. The couple we were dining with ordered nearly every appetizer on the menu along with 2 salads and we had the opportunity to try everything. Especially notable were the fried oysters and deviled eggs. Our mains were good, but not stellar. My partner had the entree version of the Blonde Mac and Cheese which is far too rich to eat the entire bowl. After several spoonfuls the blue cheese in the dish was so over powering that we couldn't finish it."

  • "We had dinner reservations for a party of 5 to get acquainted with each other. We were seated directly in front of the stage and when the music began we could not hear each other talk. It seemed like a great night club venue but not so much as a place for a good dinner. Maybe the band could begin a little later in the evening after the diners leave?"
