The Prime Ribbest phadelphia dining exprienceI was in town for a week and sampled a number of restaurants, and this by far was my favorite.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe LOVE the Prime RibThe food, service and ambience were all outstanding. We were greeted with smiling faces and seated immediately. Our waiter was at our table taking our drink order as soon as we were seated. I had a crab cake and my husband had the prime rib. What a treat. We have now been to all 3 Prime Ribs and we would return to any of them. The Prime Rib is a go to place for a relaxing meal. The piano players are a special treat for us.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPrime EverythingI have eaten in both Prime Ribs in Washington and Baltimore. This was my first trip to the location in Philly. I was very pleased with everything. My opinion though is the Baltimore steaks and prime rib is unequaled in Philly. Certainly the chef could be better in Baltimore. The desserts were also not up to standards but the rest of the meal was excellent and the service was splendid. My entire party who had never eaten in a Prime Rib thoroughly enjoyed it and the ambiance was wonderful. Wine list is also prime. It is a must try.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBone In Rib SteakMy dad and brother ate at The Prime Rib during a trip to the US Open and the food was amazing! I've heard comments about a steak that literally melts in your mouth and now I understand the analogy the bone in rib steak is phenomenal. Our server was Jason who was also very helpful. Great place and when I'm back in Philly I will be dining at The Prime Rib.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the first time thatThis was the first time that I have eaten at the Prime Rib. The food, service and atmosphere were outstanding! The prime rib was extremely tender and delicious, and could be cut with a fork. The appetizers and side orders were equally delicious. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I look forward to my next visit to this restaurant!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I visit PhiladelphiaMy wife and I visit Philadelphia at least three times each year, and every visit includes Saturday night dinner at the Prime Rib. It is truly a gem and it gives you a look back at when customers of fine dining restaurants dressed to the max for a Saturday night out.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat--as usualThis was a birthday dinner and, as usual, everything was great. Our server was right on top of things, the food was prepared exactly as we wanted and we will be back again soon--whether for a special occasion or just dinner out.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed itThe good was very good. I thought my prime rib was a little salty, but still very good. And I would order it again. I would say by far the best thing about this restaurant was the pianist who sounded like Tony Bennett and the bassist. Another good feature is how the tables were not too close and smooshed together. Wife and I had plenty of private dining space which can be rare in Philly6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter all the timeKeeps getting better all the time. Share the large cut Prime rib and the veggie platter. Great value and enough to take home unless you really eat lots of beef.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways consistentAlways a pleasant experience. The live music, the wonderful service, perfect prime rib, delicious wine...who could ask for more? I also like the fact that you can hold a conversation; not have tables of twenty-something-year olds yapping over one another. Thanks again for an enjoyable evening.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good. My husbandFood was very good. My husband had the prime rib and it was excellent. I had filet mignonette cooked medium well and it was very good but a bit dry. Overall a nice dining experience.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a ClassicThis remains one of the prettiest rooms in the city. The food is dependable, as is the service. Conversations can be heard and the music is always a welcome addition. I do wish the restaurant had maintained their dress policy, but recognize the world is a different place, indeed.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly Enjoyable DiningI love the relaxed ambiance - like a comfortable dining room with large comfortable chairs. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The prime rib and filet mignon were cooked to perfection The wait staff was very attentive, friendly and prompt.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial Occasion dining experienceWe took our teenage boys there to enjoy the fine dining and "old school" ambiance. And yes, they enjoyed the feel and look of the restaurant but they enjoyed and appreciated their steaks more. Our waiter was great, friendly and attentive. It was all fine dining should be great food, beautiful atmosphere and a unhurried memorable night out.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMvery goodI liked this place from years ago. I´ts almost perfect, but I prefer the Washington prime rib. Same owner and don´t know about the suplier but not the same quality.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a delicious 3-courseEnjoyed a delicious 3-course Prix Fixe dinner for $45. For appetizer had the clams casino; entree was a juicy portion of roast prime rib with a selected side of steak fries; and for dessert had a very rich slice of chocolate mousse pie. A basket of warm bread rolls with soft butter was also served. Adding to the wonderful dinner ambience was live music provided by a pianist.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMgroup dinnerWe were looking for a place to dine on a Sunday night with a group of five plus a baby in a stroller, not exactly the easiest to accommodate keeping all six people happy. The Prime Rib was an excellent location for this, relatively spacious for a downtown restaurant. The baby was entertained while the grown-ups enjoyed the excellent American-style cuisine. The service was attentive without feeling intrusive. We chose the price fixe option which still had an interesting array of choices for everyone. Everyone left happy.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a delicious 3-courseEnjoyed a delicious 3-course Prix Fixe dinner for $45. We hadn't seen each other for several years. We all had a wonderful time. The prime rib was prepared just right. We spent two hours talking and laughing. We could hear each other. It's a great spot for a special occasion.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointed. Not much to say other than every thing was exceptional. One of my favorites any time.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA steakhouse. What more ca you say?The food is reliably excellent. The surroundings are luxe - if a little cheesily so. The service is okay - if you like obsequious service. It does what a good "posh" insanely expensive streak house does, and it does it pretty well. It's not exciting. And one small point: the drinks are tiny. . . But it's a fun birthday kind of place which is a popular view since the piano player played Happy Birthday at least five time when we there. . .5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWhere the insiders goThe Prime Rib is a very special restaurant in Philadelphia for food and ambiance .
It is quiet elegant dining with a live piano player and an active bar.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe most tender Prime RibJust wonderful! We frequently share the regular cut prime rib and get a veggie platter. This is a great deal as they give you a succulent broiled tomato in addition to your choice of any three veggies they have as sides. As far as I can tell those portions are the same as if you order sides. We always have left overs enough for a second dinner.
The food is excellent, service gracious and atmosphere sophisticated and romantic with a pianist playing the great oldies.
Drinks are great and the best Long Island Ice tea ever.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery single staff personEvery single staff person we came in contact with was fabulous! The ambiance is wonderful and has the old world Supper Club feel to it. On the downside I feel the food was extremely over priced for what we received. The portions were large but the quality was not as up to par as the price we paid.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have dined there beforeWe have dined there before and have always had an excellent experience. Staff is wonderful and food was fantastic. We were there at a very crowded evening but the staff handled the work load effortlessly. Always a great go to place for a quiet romantic dinner!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA Lovely Dining ExperienceLovely place to go for a great meal. Romantic atmosphere, piano music, all with plenty of space between tables so you never feel crowded. I have been there several times before, and it is consistantly good. This time I went for a pre-theatre, prix fixed dinner and it was perfect. Portions were adequate, while not as large as the regular menu, (which was what we wanted) it was moist enjoyable. It is a little pricey, and the drinks and wine certainly add to the bill. Some of my companions did not drink anything because of this. However, if you want to go for a special evening with lovely ambience, or don't mind spending a little more for an evening out, I reccommend the Prime Rib. It is well worth it.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOld standardDining in class. Good food , great atmosphere, good feeling. (less schlepy crowd)5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI always love the Prime Rib.I always love the Prime Rib. Not only is the Food Above and Beyond, The service was the top. Detail for everything. I think my table was the loudest....Sorry.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went just for the primeWe went just for the prime rib which was exquisite! A very expensive meal as everything is a la carte, but for a special occasion. It was great. The best meal of our stay in Philadellphia. Great blue cheese dressing and artichokes, also.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA rare find trhese days: LiveA rare find trhese days: Live piano music , you can actually hear your diner companion speak. Excellent food & service. A shame it is too expensive to go to more often.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI like their BYOB nights.I like their BYOB nights. The only place I've found that still serves prime rib.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AM"2nd time a charm"My wife and I enjoyed our second visit to The Prime Rib. We enjoyed the best seat in the house and the food was outstanding. We will return again ASAP. This is how a restaurant should be for a night out. Outstanding selection of Neal Family wines at very nice prices. The piano and bass player add to the overall class of the place.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always have great serviceWe always have great service and great food. Best steak house in town!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful eveningThis is a restaurant that makes me feel like I ate elegantly and unhurriedly.
The waiter was outstanding, the prices were high, and the food was very good.
Enough prime rib to take home for another meal.
Piano playing through the meal was wonderful, and the Tito's vodka was fabulous.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! Excellent service!Delicious! Excellent service! I love the new pianist; nice soft relaxing music to go with dinner.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe took friends to this specialWe took friends to this special restaurant. They also thought the Prime rib was outstanding. Best we have ever had. Now this is their special restaurant too.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Prime Rib's prime ribThe Prime Rib's prime rib is really excellent. The whole atmosphere is a throwback to a gentler time when dining was dining. The "extras" - potato skins, creamed spinach - are also excellent. The service is first class. It's real treat to dine there.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMwe love the prime rib. unfortunatelwe love the prime rib. unfortunately the portions are decreasing while the prices remain the same. our king cut prime rib with bone was 1/2 the size it usually is and the vegetable platter was honestly A JOKE for $26 or $28 [whichever it was]. we did speak with the GM, as our waiter had also erroneously charged us for the potato [which was supposed to come with the vegetable platter]. he was nice, and the waiter certainly tried hard.
the OLD ways of the prime rib [with jacket] and way larger portions was honestly much better. while we love the combo band, we'll have to see if they improve things to see if we'll continue to come here regularly.
hopefully our next visit will be much better in terms of the aforementioned.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good. Can't goConsistently good. Can't go wrong with the Prix Fixe menu for $45.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Prime RibMost outstanding prime rib you'll ever have!! Sides are good too. Definitely worth the price. Get their signature cut.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were uniformly excellent. Wait staff were attentive without hovering, allowing us to enjoy our meal and each other's company without a single worry about the service. The filet mignon was the highlight; it was so tender I could almost cut it with my fork. Prices were the only drawback; this is a place either for very special occasions or people who entertain clients on the company's dime. Given the right occasion or a healthy expense account, I would return with pleasure.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial night.Fabulous prime rib. Service was perfect. See many of my neighbors there. Love it. Wish it was open for lunch.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial occasion place of choiceRecently went to Prime Rib for our anniversary. We have always enjoyed it for special occasions - the menu rarely changes but what is there is fantastic. We've eaten in all the Philly steakhouses but I've never had a steak as good as the Prime Rib. Love the full old school service as well. A real gem.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the food Love our serviceLove the food
Love our service (Doug )

A++ for food and service!!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! It was our 10 year anniversary and everything was fantastic! The whole experience was amazing. The food was delicious and our server, Felipe, was great! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wanted great steaks or seafood.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA great steakhouseThe service was top notch. The food was excellent. The portions were generous. I loved the live piano. Will definitely be back.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service excellentFood and service excellent as usual. Our group enjoyed the prime rib as well as the 1/2 rack of lamb. Only minor disappointment were the cherry stone clams, too large and a but rubbery.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect ambiance for our birthdayPerfect ambiance for our birthday celebrations. Family and friends had a wonderful time. The service we received far exceeded our expectations and the food was fabulous. We highly recommend the Prime Rib to all. Job well done.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Prime Rib! Great Service!Always a great dinner and service is flawless, the room is getting older and time for a redo! but the food is consistently good.
I wish that they had steak tartare or better steaks but the Prime Rib is the winner here. The crab cakes are stellar as well.
The staff is always great with our family and very professional and friendly. Thanks for the potato skins as well!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
