Diner Reviews
  • "Our dinner was delicious as usual; the oysters were spectacular . However, even though the service has always been wonderful, this time it was outstanding. Our server has been with The Prime Rib for 40 years and he was a delight. Extremely efficient, but with a gentle manner and humble spirit. "

  • "What a great dinner, yet again. The food, as always, was terrific and the service was the outstanding -- Bobby E is the best."

  • "We usually like to got to The PR on special occasions. We were celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary... Usually Chris B. waits bon us . He was off, so Zach waited on us. He was excellent. Overall, another memorable evening at The PR!!!"

  • "We chose this place becuase is boosted that it was romantic - not in the least. Tables are packed in so tightly - you are up against three more tables. They had to come in and move the one to the left of us becuase the chair was right up against our table. Two of us to eat and one drink a price was $189 - Overpriced. Very dissappointed in our visit. We had been going to Della Notte for 9 years for our Anniversary, it closed so we came to you. At Della Notte they knew it was our Anniversary each time (Which i told you in my reservation) and they each time had something special on our table, hearts, red stones, a flower. There was NOTHING on our cold table. It was packed with tables - too chose together. Loud. Wont be back."

  • "Going there is like being in a time capsule. It is the 50's or 60's but without the smoke. Most patrons are dressed well and the food is classic steakhouse fare. The clams casino were excellent, the cocktails were well-made, the wine list was solid and the meat was excellent. We also enjoyed the Greenberg potato skins. The service was classic and the waiter was a hoot. When in Baltimore it is fun to go there."

  • "The Prime Rib is great for a special occasion meal. It's all about the experience. Though the location seems a little odd, when you cross through the double doors it's like you sent back in time a bit. The staff is quick, kind and has a way of making you feel a little bit like royalty. The space offers up a comfortable bar scene, piano music and a large comfortable seating area that allows each table a little room for privacy. And most importantly, the food is fantastic. My wife and I began with cocktails, which were made perfectly. Then we each got the Prime Rib and split orders of potato skins, and asparagus. It was the perfect romantic evening out on the town."

  • "I've been to The Prime Rib more than a dozen times and have never been disappointed. Last Saturday night my husband and I had a slightly different experience. We had a 7:30 p.m. reservation, arrived at 7:25 and seated immediately. We then sat at our squishy table for two in a busy corrider of the restaurant for at least 15 minutes before we were acknowledged..we had no menu nor the opportunity to order cocktails. Server finally arrived with menus and dissertation of specials after apologizing profusely. As for the food...clams casino excellent, caesar salad so-so, must've either had new chef or change of recipe for the imperial crab as it was very different sauce than I'd had several times previously and didn't care for nearly as much."

  • "This restaurant has not kept up. No one in the kitchen tastes the food or if they do they don't have taste buds. The atmosphere is heavy and stifling. The clientele are old or on expense accounts. Terribly expensive food. The caesar salad was terrible - 3 croutons and chopped iceberg lettuce with a tasteless dressing for $10. The swordfish was quite good.$35ish. I would guess that they have a great broiler or grill and so anything simply prepared and grilled will be fine--all else is just for show-not taste. $12 bowl of ice cream if that is your thing."

  • "No doubt excellent attention to detail, you cannot go wrong with the quality of the food. If you choice is seafood or beef you will not be disappointed. The soft shell crabs are consistently the best anywhere."

  • "My wife and I were seated so close to the next table (approx 16") that we could hear every word that our neighbors uttered, and, I assume vice versa. So our conversation was limited to banalities. Our table was too small and this led to problems-where to place our bread and side dishes. The small table to our left was empty so I placed a few plates there, however Bob definitely did not like that and told us so stating that another couple was on the way. The take home message- less tables, more room, less profits. The restaurant was too noisy for my taste- and I would not try to spin it with the word "energetic". The food was great and that is why we came there and were not disappointed."

  • "Food and service at The Prime Rib has always been impeccable. A reliable gem in Baltimore City."

  • "We had a wonderful meal at Prime Rib. We went totally delicious and totally NOT heart healthy. The Greenberg potato skins are as good as ever and the horseradish sauce is perfect with them. The oysters Rockefeller were jumbo oysters with just enough "Rockefeller" that you could still taste oysters. House salad and the house dressing were very fresh. The beef fillet with blue cheese sauce was a wonderful combination and the steaks arrived cooked as ordered. One person in our party had the rib steak and fries and both were delicious and huge. the chocolate ice cream must have been made it house it was so wonderfully dark. It went perfectly over the warm bread pudding. Only the chocolate martini disappointed a bit- needs to be thicker."

  • "We are from out of town and wanted to celebrate a birthday and also some very good news so we were in good spirits to begin with although a bad restaurant experience certainly could have marred the evening. The staff wasvery attentive and pleasant, the food was delicious and the ambiance was wonderful."

  • "Excellent food, wide choice of menu; don't focus on the name; there are plenty of other options in addition to prime rib!"

  • "This was our first time at Prime Rib. My wife and children wanted to take me some place special for my birthday; knowing that I'm a beef fan we picked the Prime Rib. The food was outstanding. Three of us had the prime rib and my wife had the rockfish. Not only were the entrées superb, but the side were amazing as well. We all had veggie sides and they were fresh, simply prepared and flavorful. Now for the downside, our table was awkwardly placed in a corner between the entry to the back dining area, a private room, and the alcove where the table settings are stored. As it got busy our table became a high traffic area; and the waiters standing near the alcove were so close we could hear all the details of one waiter's cat's problems."

  • "As always, the food and service at the Prime Rib is amazing. The restaurant was PACKED! It was certainly a full house. If you don't like crowds, don't go to the Prime Rib on a Saturday night. The food and service well make up for the crowds."

  • "We have been dining at the Prime Rib since 1993. We are from out of town, and eat there twice a year when we are in Baltimore for business. It has never disappointed us. The service is outstanding and the feature item, the Prime Rib, is literally to die for. In fact, I won't eat prime rib anywhere else, because it always pales by comparison. It is pricey, but certainly worth it."

  • "If you are looking for a great steak in a restaurant with excellent - but not overbearing - service, you will not be disappointed here. We started off with oysters that were the best I have had in some time. There was nothing to dislike about our experience at The Prime Rib."

  • "Great prime rib. Great lobster bisque. 30% off bottles of wine in March. All together a good evening."

  • "Waiter issue. Service was extremely rushed and robotic. Charged for items we did not order. One was adjusted but not the other. Very disappointing."

  • "Baltimore's classic "special occasion" restaurant. The food is always great. The service is top shelf. Get, duh, the prime rib as it is incredible!!! Everyone loved their meals!"

  • "We had a most delightful time at The Prime Rib. Superb food, excellent friendly servers, elegant surrounding. A jacket is recommended but not required for gents. Despite the elegant ambience The Prime Rib is neither stuffy or pretentious. On a Monday night there was a pianist playing jazz standards that were a perfect background to the evening. We look forward to our next dinner there. One word of caution. When you see the $$$$ symbol take it seriously!"

  • "Went for anniversary and really enjoyed it. The ambiance was great, nice live music, and tasty food. Ordered the prime rib and NY strip with mashed potatoes and cream spinach. Also, they have a nice selection of wines."

  • "The noise level was very high...my wife and i had yell across a table that was 25x30 inches...There was a table behind me so close that my chair was an inch from touching it....very cramped....could barley hear the live music...They had one person doing valet parking....Food was ok....."

  • "We've been to the Prime Rib many times and have always had a great meal. This time, which happened to be during Restaurant Week, was quite the opposite. I understand that restaurants are trying to move tables as fast as possible during this time, but we were quite surprised when the waiter literally put the check upright on the table as he served dessert. Since we didn't want to have to stare across the table at the check as we were having dessert, I put it on the seat next to me. To our surprise, less than 10 minutes later the maitre d came and put a SECOND check on the table, explaining that he was 'helping' the waiter. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we were out by 9:15, so we certainly weren't there forever. Really bad service."

  • "I really expected an exceptional 5star meal. I have had much better for less, and more Variety. The Service was excellent as was the music. But the food at best was Generic."

  • "The food was very good. The service was amazing. They packed too many tables into a small space which made it very loud and hard to hold a conversation."

  • "We went to this restaurant for the first time over 25years ago. It's still great! Crab cakes are excellent. Prime rib is some of the best we ever have had. Waiter recommended a great bottle of Tikal Malbec. Great wine at a moderate price. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Prime Rib."
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "The food and Service was outstanding! However, the place was very small and loud. Not a good place for romantic date. I was not able to hear my date when trying to hold a conversation. The Ambience was a little below fair. Need to find a better location. However, it would be an ideal place to have a private party."

  • "The Prime Rib is without a doubt is one of the very best restaurants in Baltimore City. We were celebrating my husbands 72nd birthday, and wanted it to be very memorable, and the Prime Rib saff, along with the food, cocktails and service did not disappoint. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience."
