  • "Great place for special occasions. Very pricey but food is excellent."

  • "We celebrated our anniversary at the Prime Rib, Baltimore location last weekend. It is a favored spot because we can count on superb service and luscious food whether it is a beef namesake (the prime rib cut melts in your mouth) or a seafood dish. The wine list fits all tastes and changes so there is something new to try. Yes, it is pricey but I know the whole experience from soup to nuts is all about us and what we want. I have not tried the other locations b/c this is tried and true."

  • "apart from the great martini, the food is always noteworthy. The prime rib was excellent. The soft shell crab was nicely prepared. Old favorites nothing new on the menu."

  • "Prime rib is like the Mona Lisa of Baltimore restaurants. Step back in time to elegance, incredible food and old time individual service! Our server was excellent."

  • "Every time my folks visit Baltimore we have to go to The Prime Rib. They just adore it. And it's easy to see why: the service is really outstanding and the food--American steakhouse classics--is top-notch. Our waiter, Nathan, was really wonderful."

  • "It was a great place and great food. Pricey. We really enjoyed the evening."

  • "Prime Rib Baltimore-Continues to be a great place for dinner downtown...personal greetings when you arrive, some of the best servers in Baltimore and a kitchen very skilled in prepared a tested menu. Quality ingredients, quality staff always make for an exceptional dining experience."

  • "Lovely evening to celebrate an anniversary and appreciation. Dinner was superb as was the waiter. His recommendations were spot on! I have never really enjoyed prime rib preferring a good steak. This restaurant changed my opinion. Only doubt I will find anyplace that equals the Prime Rib! The rest of the meal was excellent especially the artichokes and pecan pie. Definitely will be back for the next special occasion. Thank you to the wonderful staff-well done!"

  • "What a grand experience from the very well done bar to the wonderful dining experience at the table. The entree and the side dishes were, as expected, superb. My first experience at this establishment was shortly after the initial opening and on through my tour of naval duty in Washington D. C. During the interim, from then until the 19th, I returned upon several occasions, and my most recent dining experience speaks to why I continue to return. Very well done."

  • "The Prime Rib never fails to provide an outstanding dining experience. Service, decor, ambiance and of course wonderful food mark this as the absolute best in Baltimore."

  • "First time since moving to Baltimore a couple years ago. Friday "date night" was a pleasure all around. My wife enjoys a good steak from time to time, and this filled the bill and then some. The talented jazz quartet, quite close to our table, played at a volume that allowed us and those at the bar to converse comfortably. Service was attentive, but not overwhelming as it sometimes can be. We had an enjoyable running chat with the waiter about experiences in Italy, and enjoyed a nice Italian red with the dinner."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "The food was great, but the service? Not so much. They cram the tables close together so the waiters are constantly bumping into your chair or elbows, without excuse. Our waiter forgot a drink refill until we asked about it. We initially asked a waiter passing by, who quite rudely said, "I'm not your waiter". Our actual waiter also didn't excuse himself when he reached across me to the other side of the table. In fact, he rarely did so with me or my mother, but always was quite apologetic to my father. All in all? Come for the food, but not for the service. If you're used to other high-end steakhouses, you'll be disappointed in the latter and only mildly surprised by some of the former."

  • "This has been and remains the best restaurant in the Baltimore metropolitan area."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "All service staff are friendly, efficient and very professional - a cut above any restaurant we've been to in recent years. The food was good, but our experience suggests that one might do best to stick to meat offerings, as my fish - halibut - was dry and overdone."

  • "We had gone to The Prime Rib last summer and had a wonderful evening. This year, we returned with our wives and were able to relive the experience. The service is excellent and the food consistently wonderful. A much better experience than a Ruth's Chris or Capital Grill. We will go back te next time we are in Baltimore."

  • "My wife and I had a memorable annivesary dinner at The Prime Rib. The service was spectacular, the food was amazing and the ambiance was very charming. This was our first time going and we plan to return in the near future."

  • "Service at the resturant was great, we were seated in a timely manner. Staff was professionally attired and attentive. I found the lighting and ambiance to be perfect for a romantic dinner with my husband. My only surprise was that there were a couple of vegetarian entree' options that were present on the menu at the Washington DC location were missing on the menu in Baltimore. Other than that we had a great time, creme brule' was delicious!"

  • "The Prime Rib never disappoints. Wanted to get a great dinner before going to The Lyric to see Diana Ross this past weekend. Keeping on schedule before the show was impeccable. We got in, had a superb dining experience and it was delicious. Thank you again!"

  • "...the eponymous prime rib and the filet mignon were perfectly presented (medium rare, of course), and the service was efficient without being unctuous. Don't let the surroundings and the convoluted valet parking arrangements dissuade you. Once you transit the back alleys and wind your way through 1960's hallways and stairways, you find yourself in an intimate setting of black walls with gold trim, red-hued oil paintings, and a glass-topped grand piano. The noise level was moderate, even quiet, despite the lively bar and the pleasant pianist. This is a beef and martinis kind of place, but they had a variety of seafood on the menu."

  • "This restaurant is one of the true elegant restaurants in Baltimore. It is a favorite among locals. The wait staff is always available but in an unobtrusive manner. Wonderful piano player"

  • "I had heard wonderful things about this restaurant and wanted to take my mother for her 71st birthday dinner. The staff was wonderful and very attentive. We were actually stuck in traffic on the beltway and thus arrived to the restaurant 45 minutes late for our reservation. I called to inform the host of our delayed arrival. He was very understanding and insisted our late arrival would not be a problem. When we arrived he greeted us very warmly and stated he was happy we had arrived safely! That's service! Our food was exceptional! My mother had the full cut of prime rib and I had the filet mignon (oscar). The meat was very tender and well seasoned. We will be returning for another visit very soon!"

  • "Returned for pre-theatre after 25 years. The restaurant looked exactly the same, which was a good thing, although the cramped parking garage entrance was less than inspiring. Our potato skin appetizers were okay but nothing to write home about, just thin ovals of potato fried hard and served with a side of sour cream and horseradish sauces. My husbands prime rib was, reportedly, the best he'd had. Unfortunately, my lamb chops and my mothers fried soft crabs were only average. The asparagus side, which we all ordered, was lousy. Both grilled and steamed the asparagus arrived completely plain without even oil or butter topping and was tough. At $270.00 for 3 people, with only 2 cocktails, our meal should have been perfection, it wasn't close."

  • "Food and service were great. However it was pretty loud. When the pianist stopped playing, the noise level dropped. They should adjust accordingly."

  • "I ate here a year ago and loved it. I decided to return and was not disappointed. The best steaks. Sides are very good but simple. Salads and appetizers are solid. Service was excellent. The table was small. There was not enough room I. The table for meals and sides. Room was cramped lowering the score. If in need of a great steak and have money to spend tey this place out."

  • "We went here for a special occasion. We arrived early and sat at the bar that was very busy till our table was ready. We were sat down at the same time as another couple. We ordered drinks at which point the waiter asked if the one we requested was on the menu. After an hour our food order had not been taken (the other table had finished their starters). We told another waiter that our order had not been taken and he said 'are you joking'. Throughout the night we kept having to ask for more drinks and prompt the waiter. In another restaurant I would have left. We were offered nothing off the bill for the poor service. On another note the food was good and the steak was cooked exactely how I wanted it."

  • "We recently visited Prime Rib after reading several rave reviews. My fiance and I love to go out to nice dinners and we especially love great steak places. The ambience was great. It was very charming and romantic and the free valet is a definite plus. We had the lobster bisque which was absolutely delicious. For main course, we had the prime rib and prime rib steak and thought they were just ok. For the price, there really isn't anything spectacular about the meal you receive. Overall, it was an ok experience but we both thought that we have had much better meals for 1/2 the price even in Manhattan. Overall beautiful place, friendly service, great soup, but the signature dish, not as delicious as other reviews made it seem in our opinion."

  • "Every item on the menu is prepared with a skill not often seen in Baltimore. The staff are friendly, and attentive and very seasoned. Pricey but the value is worth every dollar you will spend."

  • "We took a group of ten family members to celebrate our dayghter's high school graduation. She has always wanted to go to the PR and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was quiet, clean and pretty, the service was impeccable and the food was perfect. The complimentary valet parking was the icing in the cake. Speaking if cake, the waiter even brought a slice of their chocolate mousse pie out with a candle for our graduate. Everyone loved their meal and our daughter felt so special. She got out a kick out of guessing what sings the pianist was playing. We couldn't have been happier! It's pricey but worth every penny."

  • "Took my wife out for her Birthday. It was dark but cool looking. Sat down right away. Jazz music was playing and we had 2 Riesling wines, Excellent. Salad and Bread were great. Main Course of Prime Rib 12 ounces very filling. The waiter Brought more wine and a Chocolate Mouse cake for my wife, with a candle and sung Happy Birthday without even us asking him, very classy. We had 2 Cappuccino's very good, to end the evening. My wife took home her leftovers in a very nice bag. Even though the seating was very tight and my chair got kicked many times by the waiters everything else made that seem like nothing. We look forward to coming back real soon, especially to try the crab cakes."

  • "My family and I go to the PRIME RIB for special occasions a few times a year. We would go much more often, but dinner averages $75 to $100 per person when including tip, so its not a practical weekly visit for most people. Price aside, and we know what we are paying before we get there so we don't consider price of any selections we make, everything about this restaurant is a STAND OUT from all others. The FOOD: our recommendations are: Appetizer: Escargot (The BEST anywhere in the US) Bone-in PRIME Rib Steak (the best we get anywhere; order medium rare) The Full Cut PRIME Rib (Huge serving, PERFECTLY cooked each time (order it medium rare) Coffee after dinner - likely the best coffee at any restaurant in the Baltimore area. "

  • "As usual, The Prime Rib's fare more than lived up to our expectations. The food was superb, service was excellent, staff was friendly and the whole experience was wonderful. It is our favorite place to dine with a great atmosphere which has been sadly lost in the city's newer restaurants."

  • "I no longer live in Baltimore, but always go to the Prime Rib when back in town. It is always a top-notch experience, with great appetizers (love the escargot), fantastic prime rib (the full size cut is absolutely delicious!), and very good desserts. The service is always fantastic, and I love the dark black walls and the original paintings. A first class place in every way!"

  • "Prime rib, crab cake, swordfish along with the pot au gratin, broccoli rabe, rolls were great! Veal chop was mediocre. House salad seemed wilted - not very fresh. Dessert dept needs upgrading. Banana bread pudding with brandy good. Key lime pie, chocolate pie (choc pudding & cool whip) below the standard in a restaurant of this caliber. Our waiter was friendly & attentive to our needs. Water person needs better training. Dripped onto the table every time he refilled our glasses. Olde world refined service and decor. Not too exciting itself - you bring your own company to entertain each other."

  • "Chosen as a special event destination (for our 25th anniversary dinner), we were pampered from the moment we arrived, with complementary valet parking, and a warm greeting at the door. The food is exquisitely prepared and served .. and the service is very attentive. I might only say there were two drawbacks. One, there were too many tables in the dining room where we were seated. Made it very hard for servers to get between tables, and gave my husband the feeling of being squished. . having to keep your arms near your sides or get bumped. Second was that as many dishes are served on their own individual plates (vegetables, side dishes) the tiny tables quickly become full and crowded. Nearly bumped over my wine glass more than once. But WOW!"
