The Prime Rib at Maryland Live! CasinoNot regretted!I made reservations for the night before my boyfriend and I were expecting our baby girl/boyfriends birthday. From the hostess to our waiter, I have to say we were not only impressed with the "fine dining" experience that we rarely treat ourselves to but we were also very comfortable thanks to the personalities of the staff. We were seated almost immediately and food service was speedy and tasty! Not the quiet ambience of, say, a Morton's. The service was excellent and special. This was a quiet special occasion and at the end of the meal the executive chef came out to chat and provided a complimentary champagne toast. The seared tuna appetizer was done perfectly and the smoked trout was a treat. The signature prime rib was perfectly done as requested and the stuffed flounder was, perhaps, the best we have ever had. The 16 layer chocolate cake was enough for two, or at least two of us. The prices were expensive. Everything is a la carte, entree, salads and sides. On a sentimental and nostalgic note, I chose the Prime Rib, as it was the downtown Baltimore location where we enjoyed our first fine dining experience as a married couple some 25 years ago. As middle class public servants, we reserve such an occasion as the precipice to visit the Prime Rib, where the food, service and ambiance are outstanding! My wife was thrilled with this choice and while she suffered somewhat from "sticker shock" while reading the menu, we were both overwhelmingly pleased with the meal and experience.

From the outset everything was top notch. The dining room has a very open feel - with windows looking out on both the casino floor as well as toward an outdoor patio. The tomato soup was a little disappointing - tasted more like tomato sauce than tomato soup - but otherwise the food was what you would expect from an establishment in this price range.
My wife had the Chicken Oscar and I chose the filet and crab cake. Both meals were prepared perfectly. The crab dishes especially were outstanding - huge, white, clean lump meat throughout both dishes.. It was nice having an early week night reservation there, as it can get very busy on weekends. Our waitress was very personable, and everything we ordered was well prepared and quite tasty. We had a great table in the main diningroom with comfortable oversized leather chairs.
It was a special birthday dinner that worked out well from beginning to end. My guest, whose first time it was dining there, really found it to be very enjoyable. The service was outstanding and the food was to die for. We both had the the filet mignon which were cooked perfectly. The entire dinner was perfect. The timing was just right and the waitstaff was right there to fill up our water glasses and to pour more wine. We opted to sit outside for coffee and dessert and my husband had a cigar. The evening could not have been more perfect. Our reservations were for 6:00 and we were promptly seated right on time, we had requested our previous Server (Martha) as she had been our server on our first visit and provided fantastic service. We began with a salad for my wife and I ordered clams casino while our entree orders were lamb chops and prime rib and both arrived in with great presentation, both entrees were accompanied by a baked potato (first problem of the night, both potatoes were overcooked and were very dark inside the skin) ! Our waiter was great and the service was outstanding. We noticed a lovely outdoor area with lots of fire lamps and a large glassed-in fireplace with lots of comfortable seating. Even though the Prime Rib is located at one end of the casino, we would never know it. The restaurant was removed from the hustle and flashing lights. This location is larger than others, and is decorated beautifully (the private dining room inside the "wine walls" is incredible). They were very busy this night, which seemed to affect the timeliness of service across the restaurant. Our excellent server, Shanelle, did an incredible job dealing with things beyond her control, and delivered a truly superb service. The kitchen produced exactly what you expect from the Prime Rib - near perfection. My wife and I had the prime rib (we never order Prime Rib anywhere else), while our guests sampled other steak offerings, and all were prepared to perfection. Valet parking was super convenient; we valet the car in the casino garage, walked a relatively short distance through the casino, and received it back after dinner in the front, right next to the restaurant. The restaurant is a beauty, and tables are nicely spaced for privacy and quiet. The service, from beginning to end, is phenomenal; they go out of their way to make everything easy and enjoyable. And the food -- superb. As one of the appetizers, we had the Greenberg Potato Skins, which are a Prime Rib classic and delicious, with or without the sour cream and other dips on the side.
