The dining room, designed with a newspaper motive, maintains the beauty of the historic Steinman Hardware Building, dating to the mid 1700's. As you enter, the warm feeling of mahogany surrounds you as you are guided to a cozy booth or table by the window. Seasonal outdoor dining (May - September) is available in Steinman Park with a towering water fall. Our classic marble and mahogany bar offers happy hour specials, frosty beers, wines by the glass or bottle and a complete selection of cocktails. Enjoy our menu, which reads like a newspaper, includes appetizers, soups, salads, gourmet pizzas, burgers and full course entrees. • "Had a fairly good experience at the Pressroom and enjoyed the short walk from the garage to the restaurant, very convienent. Unfortunately, the service ended up being the reason I'll try a few other downtown options before coming back. The first request after we got our food was never fulfilled (Parmesan) and then the waiter took forever with small things like the check and to go boxes. It was a nice enough experience to return, but left much to be desired in service"

  • "Not great - not bad - average. We ordered choppino "spicy" and it wasn't remotely spicy. "

  • "I arranged a small bridal lunch (5 people) for my sister and the women in our family. We have eaten at the Press Room in the past and have always enjoyed it. This visit was no different. Wonderful atmosphere, pleasant service, and great food!"

  • "Great friendly atmosphere. Very accommodating for a large group. Service was top notch and fast. Food was excellent especially the crab bisque with lots of crab meat. Would highly recommend this restaurant to family and friends!!"

  • "Nice downtown location. Dining in the Park is wonderful in the Summer months. Had dinner before the show at the Fulton theatre. Shared that we needed to make the show and things moved along quite nicely. Also received a 10 percent theatre discount ! The waiter was very attentive and personable without being over done. Drinks were made to perfection. My husband started with a special appetizer - duck fried oysters - yummy. Then he had the short ribs - they fell off the bone. I enjoyed their special beet salad ( without the feta cheese) and the vegan spaghetti - loved that they had vegan choices. Saw lots of families, which surprised us but all children were well-behaved. Must be all the wonderful pizzas on the menu ! We will go back again."

  • "Food was excellent. Huge burgers, great O-rings, and dessert was fantastic. Nice to see they used a local creamery for their ice creams and sorbets."

  • "This restaurant is conveniently located for days in downtown Lancaster. The service was wonderful! Very friendly staff. The food was delicious. All six of us ordered something different and we all loved the dish that we ordered. It was a very relaxed atmosphere that we all enjoyed."

  • "Everything was great! The hostess was friendly and made us feel welcome. The music was sensational! Gypsy jazz by Rue de la Pompe!"

  • "Hollandaise sauce much too tart. Service was poor. Frittata portion very small. No children's menu. Request for sour cream answered with "we probably don't have any in kitchen today" Really? Bloody Mary fix-it yourself bar was well done. They do dinner much better than brunch."

  • "The Pressroom has been recommended to me by several people over the years, but I did not have an opportunity to find out for myself until now. Noise level is "loud" not "energetic" Especially problematic since it was a weeknight and only about half full. Later this was partially remediated by the live jazz band playing in the front. Server was pleasant and helpful, but it took too long to receive our food (3 personal pizzas and a salad) wait was a bit over 30 minutes....again problematic since restaurant was not tremendously busy. Flavor and portions of food were good, but too much crust (probably 2 inches of crust on an 8 inch pie). For the price and reputation that this restaurant gets, we expected much better."

  • "Great fine dining restaurant to take your wife or "special someone". Prices are "not cheap" but worth the price. Great ambience and great service. The hostess and the servers are very accommodating. Go there and enjoy the experience. I will return to the Pressroom the next time we are in Lancaster."

  • "Overall a good experience. Food was good we shared a small filet and a salmon dish. Asparagus was very good, cooked the right way. Service was a bit slow especially receipt of our entrees, but we were not alone as I watched the other parties around us. I twas Valentine's Day but we went early at 6;30pm before the place was very full."

  • "Amazing architectecture in the hub of the center of town. Cozy and comfortable atmosphere, unique and delicious menu offerings. The absolute best crab bisque I've ever had (and I've tried some of the best in Cape May, NJ and Northeast MD). Courteous and attentive service. If you haven't tried it, you must go!!!!"

  • "My wife and I both enjoyed our experience with The Pressroom this weekend and would definitely come back again. I was very happy that my steak was cooked the way I asked. Great service and friendly people was a huge plus"

  • "And not for the better. We've been here numerous times before and it has always been amazing. However this time was not. The hostess was a bit rude and did not smile once from the minute we walked in until she seated us. The menu has changed and they no longer make the dishes we enjoyed. We ordered an app. And paid to add crab meat. We found only 2 small pieces of crab. My husbands dinner was slightly burned and we waited 20 mins for a slice of cake. Overall not a great experience this time. Our server was fantastic however. That was the nicest thing about our visit!"

  • "I went there on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. I didn't know what to expect but I knew it was good because other friends talked about it. We had a special menu to choose from with very unique options probably things I wouldn't think I generally would like. But I was very happy with my meal. It really was the most delicious meal. I had a grilled chicken breast with mushroom garlic polenta. My boyfriend had herb Parmesan ribeye or steak or something like that. It had mashed potatoes and vegetables. He also was singing praises for the meal. For dessert, we got apple bread pudding and chocolate torte. As you can guess, these were also super delicious!! The ambiance was really nice. It was very romantic!"

  • "Had a great time. Food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the service was excellent. The only negative thing I could say would be it was a little pricey. Luckily they accept "downtown dollars", which helped with the cost."

  • "This was my first time visiting the Pressroom Restaurant and it was excellent. The crab bisque was the THE best soup I have ever tasted. I would go back just for the soup. My seafood dinner was also excellent. The staff was friendly and inviting. Great atmosphere in the restaurant."

  • "Had a really fun night. Were able to get good food at a reasonable price, run into people we know, fun server. No complaints what so ever. Great proximity to the theaters. I even got red wine served in a red wine glass. Nice!"

  • "The Pressroom always provides excellent cuisine at acceptable prices. Of course, the court yard dining in the warmer weather is out of this world. Our guests were treated with honor."

  • "We all loved the atmosphere and added bonus of a trio of musicians. Where we were seated we could enjoy the music and still visit. This is not a place to drop in for a quick bite, our meal took over 3 hours from drinks to dessert. We didn't mind as we were with friends. Two of our group ordered veal but we are positive it was a thick cut pork chop. The beet salad was crisp and fresh, I'd order it again. I had the Frank Burns pizza, a little bite from the kimchi was perfect but the crust was a bit thick for my liking. We felt it was a little overpriced for what we got but we would give it another try.."

  • "I usually love this restaurant but both my mom and I left hungry. I ordered 'vegan spaghetti' after reading the description and assuming it was pasta with lots of good veggies. I was instead served cut up squash with sauce on top. I would have ordered something else but the squash bowl was $18. Really, really unfortunate."

  • "Being Christmas Eve, we were seated immediately to A festive holiday decorated dining area located at the back of the restaurant. Our drinks were served, unfortunately, the wine contained pieces of cork. The waiter returned with a new glass of wine. The draft selection was good but limited to half dozen. The beer bottle selection was extensive - some local. The burgers are were hand made with a mix of meats - southwestern burger was delicious with fresh guacamole and jalapenos. We also ordered brick oven pizza that had high quality meats, cheeses and vegetables. Toasted Coconut ice cream from Carmen and David's - local sourcing treat!"

  • "Nice atmosphere. Menu offers interesting variations on usual menu items. Window seating is nice but dress warmly to sit there on a cold evening. Booths look inviting."

  • "We have been previous frequenters of the Pressroom; but, had not been there for a few months. They had changed their menu and we were very disappointed to see some of our favorites no longer available. And, one of our party has more simple dietary needs that were better met with the prior choices. For the others, the crab cakes are still good; but the 'fish of the moment' was overcooked. That being said, the waiter did an excellent job explaining the changes and tried to work with our requests -- He was very peronable. So, while we will not go back again, if the menu is to your liking (check on line first), then this place might be for you."

  • "my wife and I had great times at the Pressroom, and my American Express charges for this year show it. we entertained my sister and husband for their anniversary, and invited a group of six people to celebrate a special occasion along with numerous lunches and dinners on our own and have never been disappointed until now. I made reservations a week and a half in advance with a seating request upon arrival I was told my request could not be honored because the seating I requested was filled. we were shown to a very small table practically in the aisle. the server was so rushed that she just about threw the plates on the table and was ready to rush off. the server plopped the check down in front of my wife and rushed off. bums rush?"

  • "Dinner was very good, food was tasty, service excellent. Only reason I gave it four stars was because the cost, including drinks, makes it really expensive for a regular. Isn't somewhere to run out to for a quick dinner if you are on a budget. I would certainly go back for another special occasion."

  • "This restaurant is in an older converted building designed with a newspaper motif (owners have an ownership connection to the local newspaper). Very good food (I had the filet) and very good service. Nice friendly atmosphere. Several groups were present and having a great time. Only about a block from the Lancaster Marriott, if you're staying there."

  • "We had made a dinner reservation as part of celebrating our parents anniversary (we did this 2 weeks ahead of time). Although we were seated quickly we sat, pretty much ignored, for over an hour before a server was sent to our table. This was after we had asked the hostess twice to have someone take our order. Once we ordered, it was another 1/2 hour before our food arrived. We were all starved by that time. Needless to say we missed a lot of the 1st Friday activities because we spent almost 2.5 hours (mostly waiting) at dinner. I would not recommend this restaurant."
