A word from The Precinct
For Jeff Ruby, this is the steakhouse that started it all. In 1981, The Precinct was born in the former Cincinnati Police Patrol House Number 6. This turn-of-the-century, Romanesque-style structure would hold what is now the longest, continuously running white tablecloth restaurant in the city.

  • "Outstanding dinner. Finshed the last of the Masters Golf Tournament in the bar and then had an awesome dinner. One of us had a filet and one of us had a New York Strip. Both steaks were cooked as ordered and it was nice that they each came with side dishes (unlike many competitors out there). Too full for dessert, but they were making Banana's Foster table side for some other guests and it looked amazing. The manager greeted us after dinner and gave us his card, which we passed on the next day to some business acquaintances."

  • "First visit since 1980! Back then we were guided upstairs to the bar, which is now a banquet room, ordered a case of champagne (no glasses) and handed them all out. The place has changed a bit, and now that we are 60, the night started and ended earlier. Our cuisine was superbly current and included fine wine, brussel sprouts, garlic mashed potatoes and my gorgeous friend and I split a huge filet mignon, which melted in our mouths. The waitstaff was knowledgable and everpresent. Our server, Paul was helpful and spot on. We had a very enjoyable evening and even got to meet the Tampa Bay baseball manager and several of his star players. This was how a night out in Cincy should be! Thank you Precinct for a memorable one!"

  • "We had a perfect evening and dinner. The food was great, the wait staff were attentive - not overbearing but there when you needed them, and the dining area was quiet and colorful. The Virginia Blue Point Oysters were big and tasty, and the accoutrements brought out with them - from the horseradish to the cocktail sauce - tasted homemade and wonderful. We also loved the Arancini appetizer - Italian Risotto Balls - simply delicious. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and were great and the sides were plentiful and good. Everything about the dinner was delicious and perfect. The next night, I wanted to go back. After dinner we were given a tour of the new bar and patio by the manager, who was as polite and courteous as anyone I have ever met."

  • "Our party of 3 all had excellent steaks, prepared exactly as requested. Two of us had bone-in NY Strips and the 3rd had the bone-in Filet. While this is at the high-end (price rise) of steak houses, it is also at the high-end of quality of meals and quality of service. Our wait staff was excellent and the timing of drinks, bread, appetizers, main course and desserts was perfect. We had a great evening and would highly recommend to anyone that wants a top-end steakhouse experience."

If you are looking for an elegant yet comfortable experience with superb food and truly first class service then the Precinct will be a great choice. You get a 5 star experience but the feel of the place is definitely not stuffy, over-the-top formal. Jeans welcome. Great steaks and seafood. Expect to spend at least $150 for two but you will feel it was well worth it. Very cozy setting in the old building. Tables are a bit tight but that's the only negative comment and that is the case in most nice places."

  • "We choose The Precinct to celebrate our birthdays. As we were passing the front desk on the way to our seats, Brandon Ruby noted a small pin on my husbands lapel and asked about it. Steve told him it was for being retired from the Air Force. Our dinner was completely wonderful. In fact Steve told our server that he was sad when he got to the last bite! After dinner our server brought us a serving of their incredibly delicious Bananas Foster "on the house" to thank Steve again for his service, We were both touched by the gesture and impressed by the fact that as busy as the restaurant was that night, Mr Ruby remembered us ."

  • "Everything was nice from beginning to end. Had it not been cold and raining, we would have parked down the street rather than valet. They just parked our car right next to the valet stand and it seemed silly to have to wait in the rain for them to drive our car 10 feet for us to get in. Our server was knowledgeable and very attentive. The portions were bigger than I expected. The only exception was the shrimp & grits. While they were delicious, I think they were a bit overpriced. My scallops and lamb chops were amazing. My boyfriend liked his steak. Unfortunately, the mac and cheese didn't live up to my expectations. Their wine selection was also very nice. Overall, it was definitely worth it."

The atmosphere was very cool, the only downfall is you are seated pretty close to others.   • "The purpose of our family visit was to celebrate my 12 year old son’s academic accomplishments. I had requested with our reservation that he prefers his steak well done and tender. The staff insured me they would share this with the chef and our waiter was remaindered. Of the 3 or our 6 party who had steak including my 12 old sons all enjoyed their meals and their steaks had great flavor and were tender. Waiter was helpful as well as other staff members and the maitre d."
