The PrecinctJune 15thHad a great special occasion dinner for my dads 67 Birthday , and Fathers day . We had a great waitress Lauren and she was very helpful and kept us very happy with the service and the food is beyond AWESOME. We all had a great time and we will be back it was so great6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDry aged perfectionAmazing steaks. We each had the Porterhouse dry-aged special this time. Huge fillet side on each steak, perfectly prepared. Server was wonderful, let us not our meal at leisure. We sat next to the flambé table so had a show along with our dinner.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary dinnerMy husband and I decided to try The Precinct to celebrate our anniversary. We have been to Jeff Ruby's downtown and loved it but wanted to try one of his other restaurants. It was absolutely wonderful! The food was spectacular and the service was exceptional. They even surprised us with an anniversary dessert. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will be dinning again with them in the future!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMJeff Ruby comparrisonsWe have eaten at The Watedrfront, Carlos and Johny's and now The Precinct and while all the food (steak) was good The Waterfront topped them all but I was expecting to get the same at The Precinct if not better. The Server was very good and personerable.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Steak Ever!My wife had the Jac Collinsworth while I had the . We are military and have moved about every two years--living and eating in place all over the country. By far, The Precinct has the best steaks we've ever enjoyed! The Freddie Salad is a must and indulge with the Mac & Cheese (not your mama's Kraft) but a different, flavorful experience altogether. I recommend The Precinct--hands down.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingI could write a huge review on how amazing this place is, but I will simply just say AMAZING!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Date/Special Occasion PlaceThe food is spectacular and this is one of my regular "event" dinner places. I'll focus on the bad, although there was very little to talk about. I would prefer the seating be farther apart or the table size be changed.... I was closer to the person sitting in the adjacent table than I was to my date. Service was excellent, but at one point the waiter offered (we didn't ask) to let us taste a wine... and forgot about it. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal but with what we're paying here, it is. Again, I will definitely go there again because the food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is very "Cincinnati". I love it!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMet all expectations4 of us enjoyed a truly wonderful experience on June 4, 2013. We were surprised at how busy the restaurant was. Our server, Chris, was knowledgeable, well paced and accomodating. The physical layout of the restaurant required amazing choreography among the waitstaff.
While it is pricey, the food, drinks and wine were, in our opinion, worth the cost. Each of us had a differnet cut of beef and all were outstanding. The only glitch occurred when a steak ordered medium rare was delivered having been cooked to a strong medium. It was replaced immediately and without debate. The others were prepared as ordered. The flavor, texture and seasoning of each steak was terrific. We would return and would not hesitate to recommend it.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways OutstandingYou never worry about your dinner at the Precinct. Quality service, food and experience all add up to one of the best meal experiences you'll ever have. From appetizers to dessert, first class all the way!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great MealThis was a great experience. Servers ever present without being intrusive. My steak and our meals were cooked perfectly. I'm not quite sure of the seasoning on the steak but it was excellent. The wine suggested to us was perfect. It was Pinot. We enjoyed everything about this meal. The Mac and Cheese was the best we have had. It was a very enjoyable evening and experience. We will definitely go back.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food needs better seatingThe steaks are excellent and the wine choices are neverending. The service is spot on. Only complaint is that we were at a small two seater table wedged in a corner. It was so tight I didn't even have room to open the menu. It's ok to leave a little floor space sans tables. Other than that it was a great experience.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMVisit to the Precinct- June 2, 2013We went to celebrate my birthday. The service was the first thing we noticed. The people were friendly and our server, Chris, was very professional and courteous. We didn't have to ask for practically anything at our table. Someone was always there to refill drinks or remove used plates. There was a group of people in a special room near where were seated. Closing the door helped, but the noise from their group did detract from the overall experience. I don't think the Precinct is conducive to groups. The place is so tight and the atmosphere so delicate that a noisy group is a major distraction.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA Wonderful CelebrationWe celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary in style at The Precinct. Our waiter was so helpful and made our night very
enjoyabe. Definitely recommend the steak, which was the best we ever had!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant PrecinctLooking for a neighborhood gem that's a tasty treat? Well the Precinct is for you. The food is delicious, as always with any Ruby's location. I would recommend requesting Tom as your server, he's very friendly and does an excellent job!!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and serviceThis is an exceptional restaurant for food and service. There are no better steaks anywhere. The service staff treats each table as if they were the only table.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMgood food, cramped quartersWe went to the Precinct for our 33rd wedding anniversary. We had been there once before and have also dined at Ruby's steakhouse downtown and at Belterra Casino. The food was very good but the quarters were a little cramped. We were seated at a table for two up against a mirrored wall and there was barely enough room to squeeze between our table and the one next to us. We felt we were eating dinner seated with strangers.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent with great historyIt was a police station in 1902. The steaks are charred on the outside which give an excellent flavor. Great place!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Steak I ever hadWe went to the Precinct to celebrate my husband's 66 birthday. He ordered the Joey Votto dry aged 65 days bone -in NY strip steak.. He said it was the best steak he has ever eaten. I enjoyed the Chris Collingsworth tenderloin.. The Precinct is the place to go for wonderful steak..5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent DinnerWent to The Precinct with my family of 5 to celebrate recent birthdays and graduation. Steaks were cooked perfectly, wine selection was extensive, service was excellent. Highly recommended!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Time to PrecinctWent to Precinct after seeing the Chef Search on Food network. Actually found out that the Chef that won the job actually didn't take the position. Nevertheless, the current Chef and staff are phenomenal. Food was perfection, steak was cooked perfectly and Collinsworth topping was well worth the price of admission. Tables are close together but you really don't feel cramped at all. I have dined at a variety of upscale steak joints and this is definitely in the running for the best ever!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. AlwaysGreat food and service. Always a pleasure to dine here.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Steaks, but ...Steaks are great. Service also excellent. Salads, bread and included potatoes are very good but not great. During this visit the bloody mary left a lot to be desired.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a treatWe drive to Cincinnati and spend the weekend every month or so and The Precinct is our favorite dinner destination. Fabulous food, a knowledgable and friendly staff, and all diners seem to enjoy each others company. If you are in the area, well worth the visit. Both my wife and I highly recommend!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey steakhouse sure to impressIt had been a while since we'd been to this well known steakhouse, but I was wowed in two ways. Always known as a premium restaurant, the prices were pretty breathtaking, with many entrees at about $50. A $50 gift certificate someone gave us barely paid the bar. A house syrah was listed at $6 / glass, so when I ordered a "glass of syrah" and found it to be $12, I was a bit surprised. Our server appeared to be coached to encourage ala carte items.
The 2nd Wow: The food. No place I've found has such amazing steaks as this place. Oysters & scallops also excellent.
Management seems to have created a staff that is always present and pleasant, if not cheerful.
So, the Precinct remains on my list of places to take someone you want to impress.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is awesome, slightlyFood is awesome, slightly over-priced. My biggest recommendation is that the tables are entirely too small. We kept knocking utensils off trying to move menus around. Barely enough room for the bread basket.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat evening with friends.Great evening with friends. Service, atmosphere and food simply excellent.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFrank our server was funnyFrank our server was funny and was extremely accommodating. I will recommend The Princint to all my friends. We even received a Thank You note form Frank, never have i received a Thank you note from a restaurant.
Robert Slusher5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMNice historyWe were in Cincinnati visiting my son and he suggested this restaurant as he has been there several times. It is a place where many celebrities have visited and you see their pictures on the wall. The steaks are very unique and very flavorful.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were great.Food and service were great. Absolutely no complaints.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was, hands down, theThis was, hands down, the greatest dinning experience of my life! They reall know how to treat a guest and the food is OFF THE CHARTS fantastic!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AM40thWe had been told for years that The Precinct had the best steak in town so for our 40th anniversary we tried it. We were impressed! Food was excellent and Rob our waiter could not have been more attentive while not being intrusive. I would highly recommend for a special occasion. Most expensive steak I have ever eaten while also being the best steak I have ever eaten.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMPrecinct Anniversary Dinner5/19/13 was my wife and I's first year anniversary, so we wanted to do it up right, and we chose the Precinct. The food was INCREDIBLE. From the risotto balls to the steaks, scallops, mac & cheese, creamed corn, and finally the passion fruit sorbet. What an outstanding meal in every way. Only thing that was a little disappointing, and the restaurant couldn't help this, but there was a regular there with he and his entire family, being decently loud and delaying our and those around us service of our waiter.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at the PrecinctMy wife and I have been meaning to try the Precinct for a few years now, and every time we drive by, we always say, "Oh yeah. We still haven't eaten at the Precinct yet. We should make reservations sometime soon." Well, we finally went for our third anniversary, and it surpassed our expectations. The building has great history, ambience is fantastic, and the food outstanding. Now, we are both meat-eaters, so we each had a fillet. I had the Dusty Baker (best steak I've ever had), and she had the Collinsworth. It is moderately pricey, but you get what you pay for, and then some. The wine list is decent, and the service was attentive but not intrusive. We will definitely go back!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMgood times, good friends, good food2nd year in a row to celebrate our anniversary here. Wonderful evening with special friends to make an evening to remember. Thank you to all at The Precinct, to our freinds as well. The food was amazing, of course you can never go wrong with a Jeff Ruby steak, especially the porterhouse. Simply wonderful. If you can go, go, and don't forget to try the mac and cheese its out of this world. We will definitely be back. ;)5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSteaks are unbelievably goodThe Ruby rub that they put on my 22 oz porterhouse took that steak to another level. It was so soft to begin with. Our server Ticky wa great. Only downfall was that the mashed potatoes were room temp. Loved that it isn't ale carte. The banana fosters looked awesome, just didn't have any more room.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing in every way! There is no question why The Precinct was rated one of the top ten steak restaurants in the nation. From an ample supply of mouth watering menu items, to a classy yet comfortable environment, top notch waiters and a plentiful supply of top shelf alcohol to choose from make your dining experience one you will not soon forget. We will be returning often!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFine DiningMy husband and I had heard what a wonderful restaurant The Precinct was. We decided to try it out for our 25th wedding anniverary! I must say, it was an excellent choice!! We were treated like movie stars from the moment we walked in, and... the food was delicious!! I give The Precint 5 stars!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great nightJeff Ruby provided another great dining experience. The menu was great and the steak an seafood was fantastic.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service all around.Excellent service all around. They were very accommodating with an elderly physically impaired member of our party. They also cooked the steaks the way we wanted them, not charred. We celebrated two birthdays and were treated with some very nice deserts. A nice all around dining experience!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMToo expensiveI've been going to the Precinct for at least 25 years. I don't expect prices to go unchanged but it seems they've taken a huge leap recently. Much higher prices plus smaller steaks indicates the value proposition is out of whack. It feels as if this is a profit grab, not just keeping up with higher costs. Certainly their right to do so but I won't be back anytime soon.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service...tables areGreat service...tables are a little crowded together, my daughter kept getting bumped in the back by staff members. Food was wonderful. Price increases are a little steep since our last visit!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food....only good serviceThe Precinct is always excellent. My husband I and have dined there and at Jeff Ruby's other restaurants on several occasions. I typically order the Steak Collingsworth, which is always excellent. I may be imagining things, but it seemed as if the filet was small than in my past visits. The service was also very good, but lacked the attention to detail that has wowed me about the Jeff Ruby restaurants in the past. For example, there was no crumbing. Also, plates were left at our table for a bit of an extended period of time after we were finished. Finally, the water glasses were not always topped off. Again, this is a great restaurant and I point out these minor flaws because I want to be able to dine there for years to come.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest meal ever!We went to Precinct to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary and have no idea why we waited so long to try it. The food and service was perfect!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a party of 8 and theWe had a party of 8 and the service was excellent. It was a very enjoyable evening for all.
The waiter was very helpful with recommendations and did not disappoint.
And of course the food was very good and full of flavor.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBest steak in the cityBest steak in the city and great ambience. Perfect for a business dinner or a reasonable date location for a special occasion.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOur visit to the PrecinctOur visit to the Precinct was the way fine dining was meant to be. The steaks were just the way they were ordered and melted in your mouth. The best surprise was the macaroni and cheese - out of this world. We will be back.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great anniversary steakWent to The Precinct on our anniversary and for a diet cheat day and they didn't disappoint, nor have they ever. The arancini caught my eye on the sides menu and had just the right amount of spice in the sauce. The Brandon Phillips (black peppercorn crusted filet) melted in my mouth. The Precinct's reputation as the city's best steak house is well deserved.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to The Precinct to celebrateWent to The Precinct to celebrate 2 birthdays and had a great dining experience. As with all Ruby restaurants, the food and service were outstanding. Think this location is my favorite though.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA Cut Above (Steak Lovers Delite)Thinking back of all the good, bad and the ugly Steak and Chop Houses I have dined at on six continents The Precinct is 4 Star Cut Above the rest. I think my first great steak was at the Precinct in my early 20"s and while I moved away from my hometown I can say with authentic pride The Precinct is a must dine for a great steak. Where else can you go where they still have a Captain to insure that your meal is prepared to your satisfaction and prepare table-side delectables dished. I will say I miss Jimmy H. who was a Captain there when I cut my first great piece of steak but there is still one great Captain while he does not move as quick as he did but neither do I . smile! If you are in the tri-state area you must dine in.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Food and ServiceI have lived in the area for many years and have always heard that this is the best "steak house" in Cincinnati, but a little pricey. I wish I had visited before now! The food was excellent and the service was second to none! This is not a place that I could frequent due to price, but definitely for special occasions. Go hungry, leave full and satisfied!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
