  • " Our party of four had a great time. We were seated promptly, our server was knowledgeable about the menu, and the food was great. All four of us enjoyed our meals very much. Even the simple items, such as a biscuit were very well done. We're more of a hard liquor group, so we cannot speak to the wine list, but they had a well stocked bar."

  • "This restaurant is consistently good with its unique cocktail menu and southern yumminess! There is something for everyone on the menu - fresh salads, shrimp and grits, burgers, fried green tomatoes, etc. Their menu changes regularly with a few favorites that always appear. We have almost always found some sort of delicious pork item on the menu also. Portions are generous and flavors are outstanding. Don't miss the Grilled Brie appetizer."

Many times we had to ask for something twice, including something as easy as a straw. This was our third attempt, so probably will not return to the restaurant."

The adult grilled cheese sandwich my friend had was astounding in size & taste w/apples, the shrimp & grits I enjoyed & the salad were all prepared with fresh ingrdients & complete care. Each of us had a peach mint julep that begged us to have another! The only negative was the slowness in service, particularly since it wasn't a very busy week day, but perhaps the creativity of the chef precluded that."

Our server was friendly and split the bill with no problem. The food was delicious and drinks were great. Cant wait to come back."

  • "We are glad we found this restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and impeccable. We shared an heirloom tomato salad as an appetizer that was wonderful.. I had the BBQ shrimp and grits which was outstanding. My husband went with the chicken fried steak and loved it. We went in a little skeptical given some other reviews, but we were very impressed and intend to put this on our list of regular places to dine when downtown. Only drawback was it is a bit noisy."

  • "We found the Porch to be outstanding and exceed expectations. We had reservations at 5:30 PM with a 7:30 Music Circus, time was a concern, but it shouldn't have been as the service and timeliness of the food was right on, we were done by 6:50 PM. Jason assisted by two "bussers", very attentive and timely, it's nice when the water glass is always full. The food was interesting and prepared perfectly; appetizer; warm brie-perfect. Our mains; pork chop/catfish were outstanding and the sides were also so tasty. The portions are large, so the extra sides of fried okra and Gouda grits were tasty, but we were stuffed and took boxes home. You can't beat the $10 corkage, that alone will keep us coming back, we love to bring our own wines."

  • "Best buttermilk biscuit I've ever eaten in my entire life. Flaky with the right amount of crunch. My son's had HUGE shrimp po'boys that looked amazing. My wife's fried chicken was very good. My crab cakes were good, should have the chicken fried steak. I've had the short rib before and that was tremendous! I look forward to the next meal at The Porch. We plan on taking out-of-town guests here."

  • "We had a waitress that had on a shirt so filthy that it was no longer white. I'm pretty sure she also lost her hairbrush. She looked like she just got out of bed and threw on a shirt that has never been washed. It was disgusting. The food was mediocre, the green beans were the best thing I had. I was so looking forward to eating at the porch, yet I left disappointed."

  • "Ate here for Sunday brunch. In our party of 3, everyone enjoyed their food. Unfortunately, from the time we were seated it took a full hour for the food to arrive. We sat for 15 minutes before the host(not our waitress) finally took our drink order. I read other reviews that service was an issue here, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I guess the management either doesn't read the online reviews or doesn't care because the restaurant was clearly understaffed."

  • "I tried the porch a week after they opened years ago and I was not impressed and had not returned until last week. Having lived and worked in the Midtown Sacramento area for years I eat out 3-4 times per week at many of the mid tier and finer establishments. My experience was pleasant. Service was quick and attentive. The drinks were tasty and the ambience pleasant with many couples out on a Friday night. I was surprised that the Porch seems to have gotten their food game together. My Fried Chicken was tasty and hot with great sides that complimented the dish. Overall I would return to the Porch. My only negative is I feel the pricing on the plates is too high in comparison to similar restaurants in the area."

  • "I love the Porch and look forward to eating there whenever in Sac. Making reservations was frustrating to put it mildly! I called and left a message as I am not real good on the computer and did not want to do it through your website or email address, however, no one ever called back so when my husband got home he went on the computer and made the reservations for us. Very inconvenient for both of us! We are not 20, 30 or 40 something's where all that techie stuff comes natural! We are in our 70's and still like using the phone. Not sure what we will do in the future as there are many wonderful restaurants in Sac. that will take reservations on the phone! Thanks for listening, Sincerely, Karen Katzman"

  • "I saw Chef Coco on Channel 31 earlier in the week so I chose The Porch for dinner place before Music Circus. The fried chicken was amazing...tender and juicy not greasy...and I am a sweet potatoe fries junkie and these were way at the top of my list. From the pickled watermelon to the fluffy bisquits and a ton of food. Guarenteed doggie bag and 10% discount for MC goers!. Loved it...and Chef Coco is a kick!"

  • "The fried green tomatoes were an updated form of an old southern favorite. Very good and a portion that could easily be shared. The portions were large and the food really good. The fried chicken resulted in taking enough home to make chicken salad for two meals for two people. Portions would be great to share."

Everyone LOVED it, as we all shared bites. The shrimp and grits, fried chicken Benedict, shrimp po'boy( did I spell that right?), it was all great. Totally would recommend."

  • "The service was poor. We had to ask twice for refills and our server never returned with a requested condiment. My meat was burnt and hidden under the sauce. We had to ask twice for our check. This is our second time here and the first time wasn't that great either. But we thought maybe it had changed. Won't be back."
