Carl's Room, for 14-18 guests, is a fine choice for cocktail parties, wine dinners, larger board meeting and family gatherings.   In addition, you can choose to configure any of the two main dining rooms upstairs along with the private rooms to fit your needs.

  • "Booked Dinner reservations @ the 'Plucky' as friends were in town and we wanted to bring them someplace special. The wine list was extensive and our bottle was pricey but very satisfying. Out main courses were a big disappointment. The salmon portion was small the fish and plating were unimaginative and bland. My friends got the Prix Fix menu which was ok. The selections were not very interesting and the monkfish was rubbery and overdone. Complimentary dessert cookies were stale. We ended up paying a high price for a fair meal. It will be a long time before I go back again."

  • "In addition to friendly, efficient service and a beautiful setting, the Pluckemin menu is unique. More important, each dish is delicious and memorable. Earlier this week I had the best octopus dish I've ever had. Served with some carefully selected greens and a sauce that complemented the fish expertly, I hated to take the last bite. My wife had a similar reaction to her ricotta/gnocchi appetizer. That was a warm-up for the main dishes: cod for me, salmon for my wife. Again, unique presentations, superb taste."

  • "My husband and I dined at the Pluckemin Inn for the first time last Thursday evening. We had heard many great things about the restaurant from friends so we decided to try it to celebrate our 39th anniversary. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere in the Dining Room was lovely and the tables were set far enough apart that you could carry on a normal conversation without any problems. The food was outstanding...well flavored and presented and the portions were just right. Kevin our waiter couldn't have done a better job attending to our every need and the sommelier found us a perfect bottle of wine at a reasonable price from their extensive wine list. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and plan on returning often."

  • "someone was WAY heavy handed with the salt, which sadly ruined my skate. And it wrecked the truly beautiful seasonal veggie garnish they give with the gnocchi- gnocchi was totally delicious- melt-in your-mouth. My husband said his food was not oversalted at all, so maybe this was about palette training for saute cooks? The bread is home made and outstanding, and wines, fantastic! They were also very sweet to my parents-in law for their birthdays. We will go back and just comment about the salt issue when ordering next time, in hope that everything is better seasoned. I will say that it is quite caucasian regarding "clientele", so be prepared for country-club atmosphere, Great jazz music and very comfy chairs!"

Even the butter pat had salt sprinkled on top of it. We had soup, salads, entrees and all were very salty. The food presentation was lovely and the portions were sized well.   • "Having been to the PI before and had a wonderful experience, we thought that we would take our friends there for a special occasion, the cocktails were fine at bar although there was no room to sit, the bartender was friendly. It went downhill after the bar.. we were seated for our reservation for 8:00 pm the waitress seemed more intent with pushing the menu before we had anything to drink, the service was mediocre at best, the food portions were very small not that quantity will ever win out in my opinion but for the price that you pay you would like to see a happy medium...."

  • "This is our third time at the Pluckemin Inn. we really like it because of the way the tables are placed. you can actually hear what your dining companions are saying without having to ask them to repeat themselves. the food is excellent and the service is too. our waiter on Saturday night did a great job. finally, they don't rush you. our reservations were for 7 and we didn't leave the restaurant until after 9:30. I have and will continue to recommend this restaurant to friends and colleagues, noting, however, that it is expensive."

  • "Having to travel through Somerville and having heard the accolades about the restaurant, I thought I'd stop for a later (1:45) lunch. I chose the Plucky Power lunch as an introduction to their food and was very pleased with the salad and pasta combination. The ingredients were first rate as was the preparation; 4 1/2 to 5 stars. The wine list is quite extensive, especially the by the glass selections. I found two very nice wines to accompany my courses. Talking to my waiter, who is very knowledgeable about wine, I remarked about the depth of their red Bordeaux collection. Having cellered at least 18 of these chateaus from the 70's and 80's, I know the quality. The prices are reasonable given some of these vintages. I'll return."

We were ignored and only approached at our table by the waiter after we left the restaurant and heading for the door because no one approached the table for 20 Minutes. (We should have not even waited that long). It turns out the waiter past our table at least 6 times and did not even say "I will be right with you" it was like we were invisible."

  • "I've been wanting to go to the Pluckemin Inn for years and finally made a reservation this week to celebrate my husband's birthday. The restaurant is beautiful, the service outstanding, and the food was innovative and very delicious without being too "out there" as many restaurants can get. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening and for a celebratory occasion, it was worth the cost. We plan to return to try the prix fixe menu with wine pairings and to eat in the Tavern, too!"

  • "Anticipated that dinner for four would 250-300...not over $400 for food that was mediocre. If you charge 32 bucks for chicken, at least serve it hot and some unique spicing might be nice. $70 for an avg. sized steak ( I know, I know it's aged ) has even Peter Luger's blushing. Wine for $50 per bottle that can be bought retail for 19.99. To be fair, they seem to use quality ingredients and they certainly try to be creative (at least in describing their dishes)....it just seems that the execution is never quite there (similar experience w/ business lunches) and they charge up the wazoo. Judging by the cars in the lot, Ferrari's , etc., the locals are keeping them busy, but I learned along time ago that money doesn't equate with good taste."

  • "Service was excellent except for the fact that my wine was corked and I didn't stick up for myself to the woman who poured. I said maybe it was bad; she told me it was checked by a sommelier, and I guess I didn't trust myself enough. Sure enough a different? sommelier came to the table about 10 minutes later to confirm my suspicion. He apologized, explained what the issue was, and brought us another bottle (they were out of the one I ordered). He was great, service was great. I just can't stand when my water is refilled constantly. Just a pet peeve. Onto the food. It was palate-pleasing/exciting and eye-pleasing. I had a lump crab appetizer (fresh and bright) and a rye gnocchi that was unctuous. The wine was so pleasing I skipped dessert!"

  • "Wife has a long list of allergies and we don't always communicate ALL of them, as it can be overwhelming. Several months since our last visit and when I started to describe her allergies, the server already knew them. They recorded her allergies from an earlier visit and briefed the servers in advance! Nice. When she picked walnuts off a salad, the waiter noticed and asked if she didn't like them. She told him she was allergic to tree nuts and he rushed back to the kitchen to update her list. That attention to detail and generous accommodation of allergies makes a huge impression and we will be back sooner, rather than later. Bravo! By the way, the food and service is fantastic for the non-allergic too! :-)"

  • "It was not very crowded when we got there but we had a reservation and were immediately seated. We sat near the fireplace in the main Dining Room. The ambiance was nice and the attention we received was excellent. The wait staff was prompt, very courteous, and professional. Our appetizers of Yellow Fin Tartar was out of this world and the shrimp cocktails were fresh and had great flavor. I have to say the presentation of our food was excellent as well. My companion had picked a dish but wanted it done a little differently and the chef not only made substitutions but created a unique plate based on her choices. On the whole the experience was outstanding. This was my first time there and it will become a regular for us now. Bravo!"

  • "We had dinner at the inn on a recent Friday. The service was outstanding from the start. We were served a lovely aperitif, which was then followed by a waiter offering a basket of different breads. We chose the spicy twists which were unique and flavorful. The meals themselves were great. Amazing flavors. Another nice feature is that each of the fish options were offered in a 3 or 6 ounce portion. Our coffee included a small plate of bite size desserts. Wonderful."
