Service was friendly, food quality can be hit and miss. I had the Taco Trio which was good but there was too much dressing on my ceasar salad. My husband had the seafood linguine. The sauce did not have a lot of flavor. Not really child/baby friendly. The children's menue is a bit pricey at $9.00 a meal, they have high chairs for babies but no change tables in the washrooms. In addition they don't have chocolate milk for the kids :(. The waitress was really good with though she improvised and made chocolate milk with white milk and chocolate sauce.

We went for supper early on a nice sunny Friday night. After we were seated on the patio we waited, and waited, and waited but never saw a sign of a server. After about 7-10 minutes we went back inside. We had an awesome, friendly and attentive waitress now. The food was pretty bland. One person had a teriyaki bowl and the other had fish tacos. The salsa McDonald's puts out with its breakfast burrito has more flavor than what was on the tacos here, which is pretty sad. The taco filing was very good quality and quantity, but there just was no flavor. For the initial snafu with service, and the disappointingly bland food we felt the place was very overpriced and not worth a return visit.

I've driven past The Plow many times over the years and had never really given it more than a passing glance. I went there with a friend of mine and we considered it the "halfway point" and decided to try it out. A little awkward to navigate to if you don't know the area well, but once we were inside I was surprised at how nice it was! It would definitely be a great spot for a Friday night if you like the taphouse scene. Food was good - pretty standard pub fare in terms of selection but flavorful and very enjoyable! I would definitely go back here again.

We went to the plow for Father's day. There was a steak special. I ordered that and asked for the steak to be medium. It arrived more to well done. My wife's chicken was a little chewy and the brownie she ordered for desert was harder than a hockey puck ( which they took back and didn't charge ). Place is comfortable but kitchen needs help.

So for Keg or Smuggler like pricing and a statement of AAA beef I ordered the primerib 13 oz cut medium rare. Not at all a AAA cut. No marbling, big tough peice of gristle, overcooked to medium well, dry and looked like it was browned in a frying pan. Veggies and mashed potatoes were good but the heft of cost is the meat so would have prefered that to have been a lot better to justify the price. To bad I will never give them a second chance.

We like dining here, not just because of the excellent food but because we feel welcome. The service is unbeatable and the staff are friendly, caring and very professional. Whenever we have out of town guests this is where we take them to dinner, confident that they will enjoy a unique dining experience. In addition, we think that The Plow epitomizes the essence of Calgary; pleasant people, great food and everyone always willing to go the extra mile to make your experience here the very best.

The food was pretty good (had the special, Oscar-style steak), and other meals that my family had were good as well (portabello mushroom burger and seafood pasta). The waitress was busy and a little slow at the beginning, but the wait time for food (appetizer and meals) was pretty good. The portabello mushroom burger had a few small burnt spots, but not all over. My glass of wine had a lot off sediment in the bottom of the glass, as if they had swirled and poured EVERYTHING from the bottle into the glass. The noise level was pretty high, so discussion at the table was a bit difficult.

We booked this for my birthday celebration (Saturday night)A group of 8 with varying taste in food. The Plow has a great selection, the portions were perfect and the food came out hot. The atmosphere was energetic when we arrived at 7:00 pm but at 9:00 the place had cleared out. Service was a bit slow towards the end of the meal but overall we enjoyed ourselves. Will be back to try a few more items on the menu.

    Dined on 2/15/2014
The Plow is likely a hidden gem after its renovations and upgrades from the previous bar establishment. Though the bar/lounge area is large and tends to get very noisy, the restaurant side of things boasts exceptional food. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the stuffed baked potato was delicious. The desserts were very tasty, and the drink menu more than adequate. If you give this restaurant a try, you will very likely find it not very busy and the food surprisingly great. We certainly recommend it!

The noise level was a little loud, the food was sub-standard (meat was dry, yorkshire pudding was a plat piece of dough). Seriously - why would you serve primerib that is dry which was accomapnied with yorkire pudding that was a flat piece of dough. Pub or not, the presentation of the food was sub-standard. The only uplifting feature was the friendly service of the waitress. In order to maintain a strong business in the food and beverage industry requires much more than a mixed variety of draft beer on tap. It needs to be complimented and supported with good food which is seriously lacking at the PLOW.

My wife & I chose The Plow to celebrate Valentine's Day. We arrived & they had our reservation ready to go but I was disappointed when the hostess lead us into the bar side where our table was waiting. The waitress was friendly, upbeat and very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered calamari to start, I had a steak and girlie ordered lamb dish. Again I was disappointed two more times by one, the fact that they brought both our appetizer and our meals at the exact same time and two, they got my potato order wrong. They were extremely apologetic and the side was replaced very quickly. The calamari was most excellent! I have to say that was the highlight. Our main dishes were good but I can't say this was an exceptional dining experience.

We booked reso's for Valentine's Day for 7 people (mother in laws birthday) including 1 toddler. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice this restaurant is inside, and the overall atmosphere. I read reviews that it felt like a sports bar but it didn't to us. Sure there were TV's but it was still classy & felt like a nicer establishment. We all had an appy, salad, meal, and dessert and every one of us was blown away. Not one complaint, which is unheard of for a group of 7. Absolutely delicious! Would go back in a second & have already recommended it to friends & family. They were accommodating to our toddler & have a great kids menu. If you don't want to be seated close to a kid, you can sit on the bar side. Great restaurant, will be back!

Eight of us met for dinner at Plow. Our reserved table was set up in a nice part of the restaurant portion of the space, giving us lots of room to talk and enjoy our visit. The service was good, not great, but definitely adequate and not disruptive. The food was really great. I've had fish tacos at a few restaurants and really enjoyed Plow's option to have three tacos, with three different types of meat (white fish, shrimp and lobster claw meat). Very good wine list, and the night we were there they had a special sale of half price bottles of wine. Great dinner and I would recommend Plow to others.

We were excited to try this restaurant close to home. The online menu looked promising. We made reservations in advance. We arrived on time for our reservation but were seated in the bar area for dinner as the restaurant area was full. We were seated at a four top for five people. The service was slow and inattentive and our server had little knowledge of the products on offer or the many items ‘out of stock’. To start we had ‘Prime Rib Stuffed Yorkies’ and ‘French Onion Soup’ as appetizers. The yorkies were overcooked and prime rib was completely dry. The French Onion Soup broth was tasteless but the cheese topping was nicely browned and the toast that came with the soup was very good. Dinner was no better.

We decided to try somewhere different but still close to home so the Plow was the place to go to. We were pleasantly surprised by the experience. Our server was friendly, fast and efficient. We were impressed by the choice of foreign beers and would highly recommend the Fullers Pale Ale in a bottle, not cheap but boy what a beautiful ale! When our food came, it was hot, the orders were all as we asked and very tasty. It is always a gamble trying somewhere new but this time the gamble paid off and we will definitely be back for more.

When I first walked in I was surprised as I was not prepared for a 'sports bar' atmosphere. We were told that it was similar to the Keg. That threw me off , as was having to sit on a high chair. None of our party was Interested in paying $25 to $30 for steak, except my husband, and it was his birthday. Several people had the steak sandwich and all were surprised at the $20 price tag for that. Once our meal was done, all we wanted was our bill .... but our waitress was nowhere to be seen. Some birthday cake showed up after a half an hour, then she disappeared again. Finally, we were able to pay up and leave. All I all, we probable won't be back again. We can go to our neighbourhood pub and a get really good steak sandwich for $7.95.

The service was very poor. The waitress always forgot something, sometimes more than once, took away a half glass wine before it was finished and our meals arrived before we finished appetizers. The shrimps, which were the feature appetizer tasted musty, the small Yorkshire pudding appies were cold. The seafood linguine lacked taste, except for the comment prior, the sauce was bland and the pasta over cooked.

The prices are unfortunately restaurant as are the wines - e.e Steak sandwich $21 as were individual pizzas It was noisy - loud music, large screens with sports being shown all around. If they walled off an area for a Pub - and sound proofed it - but it is open - it needs serious renovation - will not go back.

We had a party of four and it did not start well. The waitress tried her best to provide my father's requested beer and said the bartender was able to locate the one beer that was not frozen. Turned out that the beer given to my father was also half frozen. Appetizers were decent. We waited a fair amount of time for our main dishes and when it arrived, the potatoes and vegetables were cold. Two people had their meals returned to heat them and the server was very apologetic. I ordered the ribs which arrived on a huge cutting board and the whole restaurant seemed to watch it arrive at our table as it was a lot of meat. The ribs were actually not bad but I know my boyfriend was not too impressed with his steak as it was over cooked.

This was an unknown when I suggested having lunch here but we were both pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavour of the food. Starting with the lamb lollipops as an appetizer, they were perfectly cooked and served with a pleasant mint sauce and salad greens. My steak sandwich was cooked to a perfect medium rare in spite of it being quite thick. The highlight was the bacon onion jam served on the sourdough bread the steak came on. It was full of flavour and a perfect complement.

I could go on, but after we sent the first prime rib back for being well done and dry, we asked for medium rare, the second was the same. The server said the meat sits under a lamp and the best we can do is medium. The wine arrived after the meals were done. We ordered appys, they arrived ok, but within a minute, the meals arrived, very poor timing. To end it off, the supervisor heard about it and said sorry, but did not take the primer rib meal off the bill, or even offer free coffee. Will not go back.
