The Plantation House RestaurantA highlight of our honeymoonI found out about The Plantation House from a website while planning my honeymoon earlier this year. My now husband and I decided we wanted to go because how could we come to Maui and miss out on a restaurant with such great reviews. When we pulled up to the restaurant, it was on such beautiful grounds! Everyone was extremely pleasant. We were even able to be seated earlier than our reservation, the views were breathtaking and romantic,and our server was so friendly and attentive. They even have us a card and champagne toast because they knew it was our honeymoon. How special! We dined at many top restaurants in Maui, and for food and ambience, this is the best. The fish preparation was delectable and used many of the unique Island spices. Food was excellent and prepared exactly as we requested. The evening we dined there was a wedding rehearsal dinner. The group was placed in the main dining hall noisy and not concerned with their impact on other guests. The toasts, children playing video games on iPads, the wanderings as the greeted each other, etc., took away from the ambience. Not sure what can be done under those circumstances other than to recommend inquiring when making a reservation about other large party groups.

Everything we had was good but not great; the prices, like everywhere else in Kapalua, are very expensive, but that's what you expect on this end of the island so if you want to saty up here you should be prepared. The "house" mai tai is a must try if you're into mai tai's (they also have a "regular" mai tai, but the "house" mai tai is the one to try); having tried mai tai's all over Maui, I'd have to say theirs was the best one I had anywhere on Maui (or any other island, for that matter). It was recommended to me and it was a great experience. The views were spectacular and the food and service were superb. In fact, we returned the next day for lunch! Linda, our server, is fantastic - pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable - everything you would want. The food is delicious although my entrée was cooked more than I liked. Linda offered to return it to the kitchen and when I declined she said she would let the chef know.
The views are hard to beat so reserve a table to watch the sunset.

We were escorted to an open window with a beautiful view. April, our server, was very attentive with the friendly Aloha spirit. The food was flavorful and presented very creatively. We were celebrating my husband's belated birthday. He was presented with a complimentary dessert with a candle and even a card signed by the Plantation House staff. When we walked out of the restaurant, the valet had our car ready with the air conditioning running. We would highly recommend this dining experience and look forward to returning to the island and experiencing this memory again. The food is great and the bartender makes great drinks(and has her own specialties which are spectacular) and she is always friendly and helpful. Our last visit, the place was quiet (we were the last ones in) and April, the wait staff was spectacular, friendly and helpful. This time was no exception. The Risotto appetizer was excellent, the short rib entree was incredible, the fish very fresh and flavorful, and the location cannot be beat, particularly if you are there in time for sunset.
