Michelin recommended. A California based Organic restaurant company, we offer all healthy dishes, fresh juices, salads, sandwiches, soups, entrees & desserts as well as Sustainable seafood and 100% organic poultry.

Extensive lunch and brunch menu with a distinct full dinner menu seven days a week.

We follow a farm-to-table philosophy relying on quality local produce. In many cases, food has been grown only a day or two before it is served to our guests. If it is not available locally, we search the globe in our quest for the best organic, natural or artisan quality ingredients as reflected in our coffees, teas, and spirits.

We host a full bar with organic cocktails and local, sustainable wines. We pride ourselves in offering food for all including sustainable seafood, local organic poultry, specialty pizza and delicious vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices.

  • "It was OK. My acai bowl was a bit watery and they put melon in it (really not a common fruit for acai bowls and throws off the texture). I was already almost halfway done with the bowl before receiving honey and coffee. Not sure if I ordered wrong or not - but seemed way overpriced for what I received."

  • "...unfortunately the food was not what I had hoped it would be. I ordered scrambled eggs for breakfast. The portion of eggs seemed small, like one egg rather than two. The eggs were overdone for my taste and were cold, as were my potatoes and toast. On the other hand, the pretty portion of fruit salad was a bit warm. I guess it all sat too long before coming out, but it was a disappointment. How ever, the setting was quite lovely."

  • "I liked this restaurant. I brought two relatives who were visiting from Hawaii here for a Sunday lunch and we were able to get seating on the deck. We loved the view and found it quiet enough for easy conversation. The food was very tasty and nicely presented. And this is where my one complaint comes in. The portions are very small. My brother had the Special of scrambled eggs, toast and potatoes. The amount of scrambled eggs was shocking; nothing more than a small cupcake size helping. Anyone eating here should be prepared to order a side dish or two to fill up the empty spaces. Actually, I'm fine with that, since the food is quite good, as long as I know prior to ordering that the portion sizes require that."

  • "From the hostess who kept seating people who didn't have reservations before she seated us (while there were more than a handful of open tables), to the waiter bringing the check without asking if we wanted coffee/dessert, the service at this restaurant was sorely lacking. The final straw for me was the advertised "Pot of Tea" for which I was charged $4, came as a mug, with no saucer, and without sugar. There was no where to put my tea bag and I had to ask twice for sugar. I don't care if this place was trendy (years ago, I might add)...the service was far, far below par. Would not eat here again. My friend finally played the pregnancy card to get us seated. REALLY???? There were tons of open tables!"

  • "I've dined there on several prior occasions and have enjoyed it (brunch twice which is yummy). This time I brought a work friend from out of town. The views of the Embarcadero are great, we had a very attentive server and our dinners were awesome. I would have the coconut crusted halibut again - and my friend had the quinoa bowl, which she liked as well."

  • "We arrived for our 12:30 reservation and were told to wait on a wooden bench. At 12:50, we approached the hostess because we saw many empty tables set up. She asked us to sit down again. We were finally seated at 1pm but then ignored for another 10 mins at the table. We made our selections from menus on the table and I then went to try to find a server. One came a few minutes later to say hi but without any water. Then he didn't know the soup of the day. After the meal, we waited a long time and had to flag him for the check. He came over without it, and seemed confused. We finally left at 2pm late for a meeting. Overall terrible service for the busy weekday lunchtime waterfront crowd. The restaurant was NOT busy the entire time."

  • "The location is great and outdoor dining a plus. The juices are great ...but food is hit or miss. The wait staff should be more knowledgeable of dishes, so can give more reliable input when asked. The lobster crab sandwiches were like canned seafood pulverized to sawdust. Cobb salad was fresh but ruined by wrong dressing (Asian sesame accidentally). Been eating here for some time...don't know if kitchen staff changed but food not so good as before. Will try again."

  • "I met a friend here for lunch. I'd requested an outdoor table, and they had one available. I had the veggie burger, which was simply amazing. I've never had anything quite like it. We both enjoyed the soup, and the service and ambiance were top notch. I'll be back."

  • "Service at this place was slow. We were seated before the rest of our party got there and the server didn't stop by for at least 10 minutes. When we asked our server about the happy hour deal, she wasn't very knowledgeable and seemed cold. She didn't offer to show us the HH menu. By the time we got around to order our drinks, we missed HH deal. The Plant has lots of gluten free, vegetarian, vegan options. We enjoyed our appetizers of hummus and spring roll. They were nice size portions. For our entrees, I had the salmon and BF had the tempeh. My salmon was seared nicely but I would prefer to have it a little bit more rare. I had a bite of my BF's dish and liked the curry sauce. Overall the food was good but service was quite slow."

  • "While the food was good, the service needs work. We waited 20 minutes before our server even stopped to ask if we wanted a drink much less provide water or silverware. The only reason he came by is because we stopped another server and told him that no one had come over. Had the duck which was delicious but ordered appetizer and entrees at the same time because we didn't know when we would see our waiter again."

  • "Loved that our reserved table was waiting for us despite long lines. We were right on time and seated immediately on the patio...however, though one sunshade was pulled down, when we requested ours down we were told they really don't like to lower the shade as once it goes down it stays down for the day! The bright, hot sun was uncomfortable, so we asked to be moved to a shady table and after a long wait were moved. The coffee orders were mixed up, the fruit pancakes were very ordinary. We were able to visit with dear friends! Think we'll try somewhere else next time!"

  • "Nice location and view. Nice vibe. Food was good, maybe tasting a little to "healthy." I had the veggie burger which was made with beets and walnuts. Interesting. The side potatoes were very good as was the kale / beet juice I ordered. The person who seated us apparently forgot that I told her of my Open Table reservation because: 1. I got an email from Open Table asking if I had honored my reservation, and 2. She placed us at a long table with other people when there were other 2 person tables available and I wanted to have a business discussion with my lunch mate. Oh well. Our waiter was knowledgable and friendly. Overall, our experience was "good" but not "great" due to the seating snafu. I'll try them again another time."

  • "Off to a not-great start: 15 minute wait on a Sunday afternoon even with reservations and many open tables. The entry is one of the most poorly designed spaces I've seen recently: customers entering, waitstaff bustling through and 2-3 greeters huddled around the reservation computer ... all in the same space! Very congested, confusing, and irritating for all. The greeters seemed befuddled ... couldn't sort out who was which party. Did not provide the customer with any sense that things were under control. The food was OK ... not great. The entry experience colored the entire experience. And it was an important interview ... did not set a good tone."

  • "I had a friend visiting from from the Tyrol region of Italy, so I decided to take her to The Plant. We had a fantastic three course meal while enjoying the view of the bay, seated on their wonderful outdoor patio. At the end of the meal she said "You somehow found the perfect restaurant for me. Everything on the menu looks incredible." To make her happy, you get five stars! Food, service, ambience and pricing were all spot on. This is waterfront dining perfection at a fraction of what it should cost. Also, the location is great because it weeds out most of the tourist population that buzzes around the Ferry Building."

Our waiter was awful, recommended the wrong wine, and ignored us throughout the evening. But, the food was good and we enjoyed our meal. We ordered drinks at the beginning and they came out 25 minutes later, after we received our appetizers (which we'd ordered 10 min after the drinks). The drink was also watered down.   • "Great location and menu. The Plant is probably a bit overpriced, but there isn't much like it around. Great place for lunch with friends or colleagues on a nice day. On our most recent visit, both of our orders were a bit off- soup never came until the end of the meal (but was nicely comped because of this) and I was given a full sandwich instead of the half I ordered (but only charged for the half). Seems the kitchen may have been a bit frazzled-- but really not much to complain about!"

Reservation?" When they said no, she said there was quite the wait. Restaurant was empty the entire time we dined. I get that reservations come first, but not serving these people? Ridiculously snobby and made me seriously think twice about coming back."

  • "Food was amazing. Service was not great. They served soup without a spoon and couldn't find a spoon. By the time they did, the soup was cold and the rest of the party had nearly finished their meals. Also an order for a plant burger with soup instead of the sides got mixed up for soup and a side of potatoes... Odd. By the time the correct order came out everyone else was done eating. That said once the food was eaten it tasted great and the restaurant is in a great location along the water."
