Diner Reviews
  • "Overall had a fine time here for brunch on a Sunday morning. We made a reservation, but didn't need one as we were the only people in the restaurant around 12:15pm on a Sunday. We easily were able to sit outside which was great. Staff was very friendly and attentive, however our waitress was new, did not know the menu, and told us it was her first day so she wasn't sure how to answer many of our questions. We weren't in any rush so it was fine. I ordered the burger without bacon and it came out with bacon on it. When I sent it back, they brought out an uncooked burger, and I had to send it back a second time. Ultimately, the burger came out and it was good, however they didn't take it off the menu which I thought was strange."

  • "It was a deserted restaurant with overpriced food."

  • "On July 1st I made a reservation, for 6 people for dinner on July 7th. When our group showed up, we found the restaurant completely closed with the lights off and tables empty. I received NO indication that P&F would be closed and that our reservation would not be honored. Unacceptable!"

  • "I went to The Pitch & Fork for brunch with some friends and it was so good! We made a reservation and I asked in the comments if we could be seated outside. When we got there, we were promptly shown to our outside table in the garden-so nice! The waitstaff was very friendly and the food and drinks were amazing. Definitely going back!"

  • "The Pitch and Fork is a great neighborhood find! The food was yummy and the service was friendly. I went there with friends for dinner and had a great meal and great cocktails. They have a wide selection of delicious foods from burgers, to fish and chips, to a variety of salads. Definitely try the cocktails-- all made with fresh ingredients! (And all the bartenders are fun!) They also have a great bottomless brunch on weekends--- they have outdoor seating and an awesome back garden that is perfect for a summer afternoon. I highly recommend everyone check this place out."

  • "Their dinner menu is pretty limited, and by 7:30pm on a recent Saturday evening they were out of one of the entrees and one of the more interesting sides. The food was very tasty -- we shared an appetizer salad and both had roast chicken. The chicken came with asparagus, though very little of it. So, our experience was fine, but it's a bit overpriced for what it was. "

  • "This restaurant had gotten good reviews, which is why I tried it. But it sounds like they may have recently changed chefs and the food was really awful. I had to send my mussels back because they they weren't fresh/edible. So, instead I got the soup of the day which I was told was butternut squash. What I didn't expect was butternut squash soup with gorgonzola/blue cheese. IMO this is a weird pairing that doesn't work but maybe that's just personal preference. My husband's shepherd's pie had more gruyère cheese than mashed potatoes. Again, if you love gruyère cheese this dish may be for you but it's not generally the way shepherd's pie is done. The french fries were good. But overall it was one of the least enjoyable meals I've ever had. "

  • "So we came here for brunch even though the reviews weren't great. They said they were giving a free mothers day champagne. Well for one, that didn't happen. They also forgot our drinks twice, but that was just the beginning of the issues. I ordered the mussels and french fries, and while the fries were good, the mussels were inedible. They forgot to take the beards off and it was just gross and most people know to remove them but I assume ALL chefs know. By this point it wasn't even worth complaining and we just paid and left and went down the street to a place that we always know is good. I would not only not recommend this place I would say stay away."

  • "A great space, marred by lackluster service, house music blasting at 7:30pm in a half empty room, and food that missed more than it hit. Noticeable waits for drinks & between courses. The menu doesn't always set up the right expectations. The olive & pepper appetizer was served steaming hot, which was an unpleasant surprise; if serving an olive app at a hot temp, say so. The french onion soup was so salty (and I like salt!) that when we told the waiter, he said the chef would remake it. It took so long we cancelled it as everyone else was done. The burger had a nice cheese, bacon and bread, it didn't have a strong beef flavor and was overcooked. Fish and salad were OK. Nice space, but unfortunately won't be back. "

  • "My friend and I ordered 2 wonderful cocktails to start our dinner my friend ordered way of the dragon cocktail, a grey goose vodka, kalamansi syrup, and I ordered Chilengo, a Tequila cocktail with spicy pure agave nectar. The Tarine du jour, a toasted Baguette with buretta cheese, pesto and a touch of tomato couli was just yammy. and so were the cheese croquette. We ordered a bottle of sancerre with the cod , it was cooked perfectly, slightly on the medium rare side, served with kale, polenta and balsamic jus.Tasty. My friend had the porc chop cooked in the medium side, juicy goes well with aple walnut compote, garlic potato puree.he enjoyed it very much. For dessert the cheese cake and a chocolate pudding were great. Well done. will go back."

  • "This was a cool gastropub, serving delicious food. It is now clearly on its last legs. Untrained (nice, but inept) service. Out of a number of wines. Cut back their beer list. Only offered one dessert. Pork chop that I had and enjoyed last time was now an overcooked piece of leather. They should stop cost cutting and just close down."

  • "I had dinner here with a couple of friends and while the service was attentive and the beer list diverse (though not all that large), it really was a perfectly good meal, but nothing really special. That said, it was light years better than most of the bars and "pubs" that litter the UES, it just didn't live up to the Gastro Pub billing, in terms of me wanting either to rave about it or go back again and again; nice addition to the neighborhood with great service (maybe because it was pretty empty), but not a must go."

  • "This place has a great Brunch special called "Pitch Madness" where for only $29, you'll get your meal and a neverending mimosa or bloody mary. The deal is so good that we finished brunch and moved over to their bar for more "Madness"! Definitely one of my favorite brunch spots on the UES. Room for Improvement: BRING BACK THE EGGS BENDICT!"

  • "Great find in the hood. Nice decor, good food, and neighborhood-friendly. Service was a little slow at first, but that improved, and overall, it was great! I would definitely go back, especially when it warms up as there's a cute garden in the back."

  • "The food and atmosphere was really nice compared to other Upper east side places. Everyone i was with really liked their meals, in fact the food was delicious. We would return. The only issue was the service, sorry to say. it was really like all bus boys were waiting on us... Having said that, i would give it another try."

  • "when a new restaurant opens in this neighborhood, it is greeted with excitement and high hopes -- because there are so few good options. pitch and fork seems like it could be a welcome addition. we really liked the warm low-lit room, and the menu looked interesting right from the beginning. but... maybe the restaurant has not hit its stride yet? everything that we ordered was a bit off... it just didn't taste very good. the server didn't understand questions about the menu and didn't know much about the food. if the restaurant is still here in a few months, we might give it another try."

  • "This is an easy spot to go to if you're in the UES already. It is very quiet and not busy so you can linger. The waitress was not very accommodating to special dietary requests. The brunch menu is very limited but the dish I had was tasty."

  • "I wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood. Fantastic drinks, friendly staff, and amazing food. And on a very coped night the atmosphere was warm and cosy! This is truly a neighborhood gem and a foodies paradise!"

  • "Unfortunately won't able to review the food because after checked in with the hostess , they forgot about us , after waiting 45min at the bar and watching hostess sipping her coffee and looking empty seats, we decided to leave went cross to street Felice Bar."

  • "Food was great, service was great, however the Bill was a little higher than one would expect for a hamburger, a bowl of mussels, and 3 drinks. All said and done it cost $95 including tip and tax."

  • "The food here was very good, but not outstanding. I think we will give it another try for brunch, and definitly go back for drinks as the drink list was pretty impressive. Our waitress was new, and it definitely showed. Hopefully she will improve, but they were very good about refilling water. Dish size was small, which hampered our sharing plan a little bit, but our group of 6 still had a good time"

  • "Made a reservation here expecting a tavern type experience. Pitch and Fork exceeded our expectations with friendly, attentive service and excellent food. Reasonably priced too."

  • "Had a great girls brunch. For under $30 could get an entree and 5 drinks. A little slow on refilling drinks. One friend wanted a salad and they were out. We wanted fries and they were out. Food we were able to order was good. Would go back"

  • "Glad i finally got to try this place. It has a great ambience, a delish (tho a bit [pricey) menu and great drinks! Its not too packed late at night, closer to ten but before that might be a little loud to sit next to neighboring tables. Otherwise, i definitely recommend."

  • "I far prefer to write glowing reviews, but in this case all I can say is that we (three friends) had the most awful dinner in recent memory. The mushroom soup was like drinking solid salt (aside from being lukewarm). Likewise the sauce on the chicken. The hamburgers seemed to have something ground into them--gristle? Needless to say we left most of the meal untouched. Our server reported our dismay to the hostess, and we were given (unasked) a reduced bill, which was appreciated. However, we would never return. As residents of the neighborhood we'd hoped to find a new spot for future dinners. Oh dear."

  • "Too many mistakes to count. Broken espresso machine, long waits for food, empty restaurant, dog at a table next to us, incorrect food brought out (ordered a vegetable omelet and received a cheesy omelet with bacon?), unable to accommodate order changes (subbing milk for yogurt). Just not a great place at all. Potential, sadly."

  • "Food was incredible, drinks were great, can't say enough good things about Pitch & Fork. Will definitely be going back to try their brunch!"

  • "Good food and good prices. It took a while for them to bring us the appetizer bur the wait was worth it. We had the mussels and sea baas. Both nice choices and a little out of the normal flavors. The broths on both dishes was excellent."

  • "The Good: decor of the restaurant and back patio. The arugula salad. My girlfriend liked the chicken under brick, tho the piece I had was overseasoned or burnt. The Bad: the slow service. Took a while to get our apps and didn't get drinks served until after the apps. Took a while again for main course and so they gave us a round of drinks. (Which is good but shouldn't have come to it. ) The Ugly: the blueberry Collins (didn't have much flavor) the pitch and fork cocktail (overly sweet and nauseating, could only drink half). The grilled shrimp (was only warm when I got it and I could've cooked it just as well and I'm not great at cooking shrimp). Hopefully it was just a bad night for them but not sure if I'd give it a second chance."

  • "We came for brunch and asked to sit in the lovely outdoor garden in the back; we were told they had closed it, due to a lack of staff (9/2/13). That was the only reason why I picked this place. Instead, we sat inside...it was dark and noisy. However, the service was awful, probably due to the lack of staff. I had to ask for my iced coffee 4 times, and finally the bus boy brought it. We had ordered a salad to eat before our main course came, and they ended up forgetting it, so we had to ask for that to brought AFTER our main meal arrived. The food was fair. If you can eat outside, it's a nice place for brunch or dinner while the weather holds up. Otherwise, don't bother."

Everything we had were so good and tasty. The service was attentive and professional. Informed waiter who spend time explaining different dishes and seem to care that you are pleased. My girl friend and I had a pleasant dinner! Definitely we will go back"

  • "We had a great dinner with my husband in the Pitch&Fork. We knew the place for a while and wanted to give it a try for the first time. The first thing you notice about the place is its beautiful ambiance and the rustic&antique decoration. We were greeted and taken to our table nicely. Our waitress was really attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Thanks to her recommendations, we had the chance to try Pitch&Fork's famous appetizers: devils on horse back (they are basically dates filled with blue cheese and wrapped in bacon strips) and bacon wrapped bacon. Both were delicious! Then, as main dish, we ordered Salmon and Burger. Both looked and tasted great. We will definitely be back for more!"

  • "Myself and my partner were here on saturday evening and we were both very impressed! The food was delicious, I got the salmon which was cooked to perfection and my husband got the burger which he said was the best around! The cocktail menu is very unique also. The service was excellent and our waitress was very friendly and had a thorough knowledge of the menu. The place altogether is just great :) I will certainly be returning with my friends! Superb!"

  • "After sending back our food 3 times our waitress disappeared. We had to call the restaurant 3 times in order to get our check brought out. No one answered. Our check was finally brought out and it was wrong. Brunch took 2.5 hours and was the worst experience imaginable. Would rather have eaten at the soup kitchen, better service and better quality food. They also never found our reservation...."

  • "The Pirch & Fork is a great find int UES. Have eaten there twice - was not disappointed -- It's gastropuby - stuffed animal heads on wall/paneling - but very friendly. Food was always fresh and cooked to order -- The Beet salad is amazing - had slow cooked salmon- great flavors and Monkfish & Cockes (muscles) very good. Large portions - very friendly staff Good variety on beer and wind list- Highly Recommend."
