The Pit Authentic BBQWhat NC BBQ restaurant should beThis is a great spot with wide variety of bbq and beers.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGo! Don't miss it!!!Delicious!! Fun!! Excellent service!!! We have NEVER been disappointed with The Pit. This is a wonderful place for celebrating--wonderful Southern cooking, attentive wait staff, coupled with some festive beverages---couldn't ask for anything more!!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA favorite for BBQ, fried chickenWe usually can't resist the fried chicken. But last time time we had ribs and brisket. Both were excellent. Done to perfection with just the right amount of smoke.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat RestaurantThoroughly enjoyed my first dining experience. I had reservations at 7:45 and arrived at 7:40 and was seated immediately. My food order was delivered to our table very promptly. We had finished our diner by 8:15. The food was delicious!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experienceMore restaurant should follow The Pitt's why they service. Service is everything. You can have great food and poor service people aren't going back. Great Great Job!!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for out-of-townersWe interviewed a job applicant and took him to The Pit and he was so impressed that it was easy to convince him to move to Raleigh!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingi have heard about this restaurant and wanted to try it. it was amazing.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time atThis was my first time at the pit and everything was amazing! The food, drinks, and service was all top notch! I will definitely be going again the next time I am in Raleigh.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing BBQ!We've tried every type of BBQ all over the nation and there is a reason that this is the place everyone recommends in North Carolina! Perfectly done BBQ that comes in large portions, has great sides, and a crazy good price (at least for lunch). The price goes up for dinner, but the portions stay about the same. Worth the price and the drive if you're coming from out of town!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEastern and Western BBQMy husband prefers vinegar-based barbecue sauce (Eastern), and I prefer tomato-based sauce (Western). Both sauces were available on the table. When our food was brought out, his pulled pork had been prepped with the Eastern style, and my beef brisket had been prepared with sweet/sour Western style. We both loved our food, from appetizer to dessert, and would definitely recommend this restaurant to others looking for North Carolina BBQ.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food

It was a great place to go and loved the atmosphere5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mother's DayI took my mom there for her first time on Mother's Day and it was great. It was a group of 5 and we were seated with no wait even though the place was packed. The wait staff was excellent, the food was of excellent quality and taste. We were served rather quickly for a holiday. Everyone in my dinner party was happy. We will go back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated a combined Mother'sWe celebrated a combined Mother's Day and birthday for our daughter. The food and service were great and a single slice of the complimentary chocolate cake was too big for our entire group to eat. We will certainly go back5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome!!!This is my favorite place to eat in Raleigh!! I have never been disappointed!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousThe food is always delicious! Any time we have family or guest come to visit they always want to eat at The Pit. Highly recommend dining there for some great BBQ.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGood EatingThe food was very good and all made in house. I am from out of town and came in town just to eat here for the first time. I will be returning with others for the good food experience.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing BBQThe Pit has lived up to all the hype I heard about this place. The restaurant was clean and the service was great. The food was amazing and probably the best BBQ I've ever had. I'll be thinking about their cornbread and ribs for a while. Great experience and definitely worth waiting until 9pm to eat!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat barbecue and the bestGreat barbecue and the best "like home cooking" Southern food I've ever had in a restaurant5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBest BBQ in the triangleAs the title says, the pit is the best BBQ I've had in the triangle. Everything I've had is great except their BBQ baked beans. I'd steer away from those. Otherwise you really can't go wrong with anything you order!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAccommodated our request forAccommodated our request for a table out of the way so we could open gifts, and they had no objection to the cake we brought. BBQ was very good.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent BBQ & Fried Chicken! We went for lunch just prior to graduation weekend and were seated promptly indoors. Staff was very attentive and knew the menu very well. We all tried something different and enjoyed our selections. The combo meal pork was ever so tender and delicious, with just the right amount of smoky flavour and the southern fried chicken was perfectly crisp and juicy! We will definitely go back to try the many other items on their menu!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and Service is GREAT!As usual, the food was delicious and the service was great. They were able to handle our group of 7 with patience and lots of attention to our needs.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMRaleigh's GemGreat bbq at really good prices. I recommend to anyone visiting the Raleigh area. Lick your fingers tasty!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat TimeWe were celebrating birthdays for 3 family members and really had a great time. Will definitely be back again!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great! We hadThe food was great! We had a wonderful dinner. Our meals were tasty and the service was great!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGo with the Chopped Pork!!!The best chopped pork I have ever had. The flavor was phenomenal!!! The pumpkin corn bread was fantastic.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time visitWe went to The Pit for the first time on a Friday night. I'm glad we reserved a table. Immediately after we got there the place was full with a line, including seats at the bar. The food was great. Probably the best thing we had was the BBQ Soul Rolls we shared for an appetizer. I could make a meal of jus those! It was simply great food and very good service. We enjoyed our evening very much.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMfun and yummy!great food, great vibes, great drinks!!!! Large portions on food . . . . would go back anytime with groups or just on our own!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFood reviewI was traveling for work attendin training at NCSU. Heard rave reviews from classmates who went the night before. Liked the online reservation process. Service and food was great! Best chopped pork I have ever had. Seasoned so well I didn't even need BBQ sauce. Prices very reasonable for quality of food.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious food, friendly ambienceWe had an early dinner on a Tuesday night (at 6 pm) and enjoyed the food very much. Fried green tomatoes for starters, and then the chopped pork and ribs. The sides we chose were extra good: a raw broccoli salad, grilled squash, sweet potato fries and slaw. Generous portions. Good value. As we were leaving, the place was getting packed. Glad we went early! Service was friendly. As we arrived early, there was easy street parking.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. BestFood was excellent. Best ribs I have had in a long time. The home made biscuits are to die for (FYI- the biscuits are not low fat, but they are so good you have to have one).
Service was via a team of servers working an area. (Great service model). There was always a server within a few feet if you needed anything.
I recommend getting a reservation (via Open Table) if timing allows. Waits can be lengthy due to its popularity. Parking is limited in the area (mostly on the street). There is valet parking available.
We will definitely go back again.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was outstanding andThe food was outstanding and the service was just as good. We used open table to make sure that we were able to secure a table for our visit to the south. The restaurant looked very impressive, but our seats were too close to the other tables. It was hard to maintain our own conversation and we heard everything that our neighbors spoke.
Our drinks were very imaginative and unique creations, full of infused liquors. The Cherry infused bourbon was amazing. I ate the double combo, combining pulled pork with spare ribs. My only complaint was that I didn't have the triple combo and add some brisket. I'll try it next time I am in town and this is definitely a place I will revisit.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good, and busy!My husband had the Carolina ribs, and said they were the best ribs he's ever had! Also enjoyed the banana pudding (came out warm from the oven) and the brunswick stew and BBQ sandwich. Portions are huge. Everyone had take home enough for another meal.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale Comfort FoodGood ol' southern cooking goes uptown, featuring their Eastern NC-style BBQ - which has a smokey flavor, isn't too vinegary, and w/o the gristle & fat often found in cheaper BBQ places. Just fantastic. Mac & cheese also delish. And a fried pimento cheese appetizer - who'd a thunk it, but wow! Well, everything was yummy (except the deviled eggs - kinda meh). Our knowlegeable, upbeat waitress made the meal even better. I was especially impressed with how all the waitstaff kept an eye on all the tables so folks were never without attention. Not cheap, but totally enjoyable. Locally sourced meats, veggies & beer list, too. Definitely get a reservation - this place was hopping even on a Tuesday evening.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe visit The Pit regularlyWe visit The Pit regularly and consistently have a great experience. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I highly recommend a visit, be sure to save room for the carrot cake for dessert.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed Sunday lunch. LovedWe enjoyed Sunday lunch. Loved that we had made a reservation as there was a long line. It seemed that they seated people fairly quickly.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the best meal I haveThis was the best meal I have every had in my life.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome food. You must sample the brushetta...to die for! High marks for the brunswick stew which I don't particularly care for but one of my guests ordered a bowl. An enormous bowl! My expectations for sampling quality southern cooking was certainly met.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great. the serviceThe food was great. the service eas outstanding.Took my business prtner and a client there for a meeting. It went wonderfuly. Will definetly go again.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Pit is the Best!Love the Pit. Great barbecue and fun, happening place in a very active area full of energy. Polite staff and we got a great table. Well done. Pit crew!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome place for a greatAwesome place for a great BBQ. BEST I HAVE EVER EATEN. We drive all the way from greensboro a couple time a year to eat there. We always bring friends.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways greatI LOVE this place, some of the best BBQ I've had. I've never had a bad experience when I've gone, whether it be two or ten of us in a group. The environment is comfortable for any occasion, whether you're dressed up or wearing shorts and t-shirts (as we were). Word to the wise - make reservations whenever possible. We made reservations shortly in advance and had no problem being immediately seated upon arrival. However, there were throngs of people waiting outside that hasn't made reservations ahead of time.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was reasonably priceThe food was reasonably price and very good. The service was excellent. Wehad a wonderful time4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. ThirdGreat food and service. Third time visiting. Can't wait to come back and bring the family.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMlove this place. one of mylove this place. one of my favorite restaurants in raleigh.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time atThis was our first time at The Pit. We received a gift card and decided to try it out. We were not disappointed. We especially enjoyed the mac and cheese and creamed corn. The smoked turkey barbecue was a bit too spicy and overpowered the "smoked" flavor. We tried the apple dessert and it was delicious. Overall we had a great dining experience and will visit again soon.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best BBQWe invited some friends of ours from out of town and they were very impressed by the food, the kindness, and the prices. We brought them two years ago when they came back
they wanted to come back to the pit to eat.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBest BBQ chicken you willBest BBQ chicken you will ever eat. Loaded fries are great. Service is above average, tables are close together and its loud but worth it. Biggest crtique is that Brisket seems to run out all the time before 8 pm. If it is that good then give us more!!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMChi-town BBQ lover-loved the PIT!Coming from Chicago... looking for some great NC BBQ... this was the place... didn't disappoint us... other than being out of brisket.... but the pork/turkey combo, mac-n-cheese, red beans and rice... now that's a meal... and the sweet tea... only Nelly out of Myrtle Beach does it better
Hope I get to come back for a second chance at the brisket4/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
