We had the pleasure of sitting at a small bar facing the kitchen, while the restaurant was doing a training for new cooks at another location. We basically sat through a seminar on whole-hog roasting, while enjoying an excellent meal. Certainly not an every-day occurrence, but it just highlighted the overall excellent experience.

They offer two sauces: Vinegar and sweet. Both are great and I am not even a vinegar fan! Free valet parking was a great start ( but of course who doesn't appreciate a tip). Immediate seating, someone at the table within seconds, not minutes, to take our drink and appetizer order, and the announcement that 3 people would be taking care of our group of 5's needs was not an idle promise. What kept the meal from being outstanding vs. OK was the small portion sizes for the premium price being charged for down home stuff like pulled pork, ribs, and fried chicken. it should have been wonderful for the amount charged. It was not. So I had to leave it at Energetic. Our table for 2 started out ideal and went quickly to where we couldn't hear ourselves due to the large groups nearby. If it wasn't for the excellent, excellent service the night would have been totally ruined.
Maybe I'm getting old, but I'm having to rule out loud places where we can't talk and enjoy each other's company as it's not worth the money. perhaps if we'd sat outside...
Anyway, back to the fantastic servicers on Tuesday night. This was some of the best service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. Many servers, pleasant servers, proactive and efficient.
