The Pirates' HouseA historic gem!.What a historic gem! Delicious food in a historic and intimate setting. I tried the luncheon buffet and what a treat. A great selection of Southern cuisine with healthy choices. The fried chicken is to die for. Imagine sitting in a friendly, comfortable restaurant constructed in the 18th century eating comfort food. You won't be disappointed.
The staff is professional, friendly and provides attentive service.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA delightful surpriseOn the recommendation of friends we tried this venerable restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. Great waiter, terrific food and delightful atmosphere if you like a little history with your meal. One of the best Seafood Platter's I've had since New Orleans.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great service!!!Excellent lunch buffet. Must try to squash casserole, not good for you but good for the soul. Atmosphere was great along with the service. It was not crazy expensive but you might want to make this a late lunch and eat a light dinner later one. The food was very filling. Bill was around $80 with the tip for 4 people. I guess that's not too bad for a large lunch in Savannah.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMHistoric and fun!Pirates House may seem a tourist trap, but the shrimp, oysters, and crab were delicious, and the charm of eating in the oldest house in Georgia, the Herb House, was the highlight. Our server was delightful, and our table in the perfect spot. plenty of free pRking. Don't miss it.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNice timeWe were a group of 6 adults first time in savannah ga

The pirate who ce to our table was extremely well educated and travelled and spoke several languages and made our visitor feel right st home. She invited him and his family to contact her on his nrxt trip to Denmark and she would show themall the right places to visit. A superb evening for all. It was Mother's Day and there was a small crowd waiting when we arrived. We were seated quickly and received excellent service. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was so nice. The building itself is historical and was decorated nicely. There is plenty of off-street parking, which is rare in downtown Savannah. We look forward to our next visit!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingEvery time we've been we've had an amazing experience and Mother's Day was no different. Thankfully we were put in a well lit back room with other families with children so as not to disturb those celebrating without children. Our waiter was wonderful. He was there when we needed us but not bugging us when we didn't (which is tough when you're battling with two toddlers and getting them to eat). This is a restaurant I see our family spending all major holidays and special occasions for many years to come!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunch buffet!Highly recommend the southern buffet for lunch. EVERYTHING was excellent, especially the fried chicken. Can't say enough good things about the food. Great historical spot and fun for all ages.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food! If that isnt enough of a statement about this restaurant then too, bad. I have been dining here since I was 4 or 5 years old, I'm now 50 and I still like it just as much as I ever did.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMoverallWe felt everything about the Pirate House was outstanding5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe drove from Atlanta to eatWe drove from Atlanta to eat here and it was very good food. Lunch was great. We had a party of 15 split into two tables. Our server was great, getting everything right considering how busy they were. Reasonable prices. Costumed employees dressed like pirates came around to the tables. A great touch! We had pictures taken with them. Lots of fun. Everyone enjoyed themselves.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPirate's HouseThe food was fabulous and the waitress was very attentive. I know
it was discontinued several years ago. That was part of the treat of going to the Pirates House....I know it has changed hands over the years
but that should have been one dessert that they kept.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFound off a tour and saw onFound off a tour and saw on travel channel. Food fair priced and over abundant. Best shrimp scampi I have ever eaten!!!!!!!!! The husband had salmon that had to weigh at least 3/4 of a pound and really enjoyed it. They brought us cake as a surprise to celebrate our anniversary. The room we sat in was built in 1734, the oldest existing building in Savannah. A true gem...don't miss this one!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGood long standing restaurant.Fun atmosphere in this old historic location. Food is good Southern style. Take kids they will love it4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMYO HO HOWe were in Savannah for the afternoon and enjoyed having lunch in this historic spot. We sat right next to the opening that led to the old rum cellar. Our server was great and ended up being from our home town. Nice wine list and we tried the southern buffet. The menu items the others around us ordered too. The food wasn't anything outstanding but it was a fun place to visit and the kids enjoyed the key lime pie and cobbler that was included with the buffet. The pirates that stopped by to visit our table were amusing as well. It was interesting to hear stories about the house.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe place is enjoyable, historicThe place is enjoyable, historic and interesting for a visitor to Savannah. The food seems average based on our one visit, although they did have the best fried green tomatoes we had in several days in Savannah. The historic location (including the Herb House from 1734, reputedly the oldest building in Georgia) is interesting in itself. It is a crowded, touristy place, but that is to be expected. A worthwhile stop for a visitor.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFine dining with an interestingFine dining with an interesting history & atmosphere and great food. The layout of the restaurant was really cool with many, MANY rooms. They had a great kids menu that made into a fun (cardboard) pirates hat with eye patch & earring that the kids could assemble & wear. My 10 & 13-year olds enjoyed the restaurant, although I was disappointed that there wasn't any entertainment for them. We were told over the phone that a pirate would come by the table, but the only pirate we saw was after dinner in the gift shop. Overall, dinner was pleasant to look at, a descent sized portion, and very yummy.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMKeep on ComingI've been coming here for more that 35 years, and it's
still great.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA Unique Dining ExperienceMy recent visit to The Pirates' House was probably my sixth one. I am a repeat customer, and eat there at least once almost every time I am in Savannah. The history and ambience can't be matched, and the food is wonderful! Any place that can produce great service, delicious food, and a sparkling clean facility like that with such a high volume of business amazes me. My 5-year-old daughter and my young nieces absolutely love the atmosphere, the cardboard pirate toys, and the "roving pirate" who comes around to the tables. I also appreciate the gourmet-caliber food (especially the pecan encrusted chicken) and the great selection of beers and wines. For all of the reasons given, I would classify this as a truly unique dining experience.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thoroughly enjoyed ourWe thoroughly enjoyed our Easter Sunday Brunch and appreciated the fact that the Manager was very attentive and welcoming.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAt the last minute, we wereAt the last minute, we were able to get a reservation for the Easter lunch buffet. The food was the best southern style food we had during our 10 day trip through SC and GA. Definitely recommend this place to anyone with a hearty appetite. We will be coming back the next time we are in Savannah.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVery friendly and comfortableVery friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Food was excellent as well as service. Would go again.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAWESOME!!!From the moment I walked in I knew I would love this place and I wasn't disappointed! From the decor and the history, this place was amazing! The food was amazing! So much to choose from, it was hard to decide! I love to go places that aren't "cookie cutter" in decor and in food! The only thing that would have made this more exciting would be to see every room! Love it, love it, love it! You can be sure all my friends will know about this place!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWE HAVE ATTENDED THE THANKSGIVINGWE HAVE ATTENDED THE THANKSGIVING BUFFET AND THE EASTER BUFFET. THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AND I INTEND TO EAT AT THE PIRATES HOUSE AGAIN ON THESE HOLIDAYS.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFun!Fun place. Lots of history! Food was ok...typical fried seafood selections.
Probably should have gone with the pasta. Very nice appetizer!
Exceptionally good service!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere and consistentGreat atmosphere and consistent theme. Friendly pirates visit each table.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMshort notice birthday lunch successMy wife, daughter (11) son (2.5) and I were returning from a weeklong trip to Disney. It was my daughters birthday and we were driving back from FL. We looked up places that would be cool/fun and have some history...which could accommodate us on a busy day for a birthday lunch. I used open table to book the restaurant (heavy user) and put the birthday ask for my daughter in the notes. We got there. It's the oldest house in Georgia. Tons of kitsch and pirate themed stuff. Well done. Cool atmosphere. The place was jammed yet they seated us within 5 minutes of our reservation time. Food was yummy. Great buffet for kids. All in all...I jaded NY'er would say...get to this place. My daughter loved the lunch. Phew!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to dine if youGreat place to dine if you have reservations for a concert at the Morris Center. A pleasant experience, shall go back again.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI liked it better than PaulaI liked it better than Paula Deen any day... specially their Fried Green Tomatoes... A little over prized though, but good. The pecan chicken was awesome too!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious whichThe food was delicious which surprised us. The fried chicken was absolutely the best we have ever eaten.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a large party (11),We had a large party (11), and each person got something different from the menu. Everyone enjoyed their choice as well as samples from the others' plates. We had a wide range of tastes in the party as well, including seafood lovers and haters, picky children, and teens who usually eat pizza. The spring rolls were especially good with pulled pork and collard greens.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place. We were seatedGreat place. We were seated in a small room with two other tables. Would have preferred to be in the large room, but the rest of everything was excellent.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, we had a great experience.Overall, we had a great experience. The theme and layout of the restaurant is very enjoyable. I ordered the honey pecan fried chicken, and it was absolutely excellent! The history and some ghost stories were told by a pirate wandering around the building, which is a fun addition (though his costuming could be much better). Our server was also one of the best we have ever had.
The only thing I would suggest for future patrons...if it is chilly outside, bring an extra layer. The old building gets very drafty. We were in one of the side rooms next to two outside doors on a windy, chilly day. The flame on our table was even dancing in the wind. Had to order (bad) coffee at dessert to warm ourselves.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
