Diner Reviews
  • "I'm glad I had a chance to dine here. I used a Groupon but I will definitely return. Food was great, service was awesome. A pleasant surprise."

  • "Diverse and exciting menu. The view is one of the best in Edmonton and the ambience is exceptional."

  • "Service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Other than the grilled Caesar salad that was delicious, the entrees were only mediocre. The dessert needs a lot of improvement, especially the strawberry cream puffs. Also, restaurant doesn't offer decaf latte, which personally, isn't acceptable for a fine dining restaurant."

  • "I was looking forward to eating here, had been to the Cooperpot and liked the atmosphere. We had the calamari, pasta special and peach tenderloin. The appie was promising, good flavor and very tasty. But the mains were let downs, pasta skin was too thick and tenderloin was over cooked. The service was great, waiter was friendly and polite."

  • "We have been to the Phork for lunch twice and both times the food and service were excellent. The menu is not large, but they offer some good daily specials that are unique and are normally a great choice. The grilled caesars salad is very good and can be chosen as a side dish with many of the lunch items. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a wall of windows with great views of the river valley, high level bridge and legislature grounds."

  • "Overall, found the dining experience enjoyable. Food was good but not great. However, the ambience is different, great view and a place I would probably enjoy on a cold winter evening. Parking was confusing. After we drove around finding a place on the street 2 blocks away we were told we could park underground right at the restaurant. The signage (or lack of) for the parking is anything but clear regarding whether if you are allowed to use it if you are unsure. All in all, we will return again at some point."

  • "We chose to have our anniversary dinner at the Phork. This was our second visit, so we were already repeat customers. Our first visit was in March, before the trees had leaves. At that time, one could very clearly see the bridge and the lights of the university. During this most recent visit, all the trees were fully covered, so there was not as much of a view of the river valley. This was a great locale prior to watching the Light the Bridge and fireworks displays. The service was wonderful, the atmosphere was romantic, and the food was tasty."

  • "I booked this restaurant for 14 people without having been there before. It was a little tricky to find, but we had amazing service from Natasha, the meals were delicious, and the live music was just perfect. I would recommend the huge portion of the ribs, and the Mac and cheese balls for an appetizer. Both a pleasant surprise."

  • "Our waiter was great. Food was yummy and you can't beat the view. The one thing that made the place seem seedy was the bus boy sitting at the bar sucking back a bottle of beer watching soccer in plain view in work wear. Even if he was done his shift, this killed that upscale, special evening feeling."

  • "The location of this place is amazing, parking attendant was awesome, there was no stress to find parking! Service was good but the waiter talked too much about his friends and family, it made for a rather odd evening out. Food was good."

  • "Service-outstanding and knowledgable. Food-outstanding full of flavor."

  • "The dining area was hot and humid. If it was not for a couple mentioning it we would have sweated through our meal. Our server seemed to be overwhelmed and could not remember to bring more than 1 drink at a time let alone bring that 1 drink we asked to ease her workload. Food? Well... Not the greatest perhaps it was cold. Raviolli was chewy like a pyrogy. Tiramisu!!! That rocked! I would only come here for that! Way to go mama Maione! Had high expectations...but not everyday can be a winner..."

  • "We were a party of six enjoying the evening with good food and wine. I had their scallop main dinner option and found it to be a bit small for the price but the flavour was good. We will probably return in the future as the live music was absolutely wonderful and the service was quite good."

  • "Dont believe the negative review. The Phork is fantastic. The food is amazing, the service is excellent, the ambience is spectacular. I highly recommend anyone to experience it for yourself. The tiramisu is the BEST IN THE CITY!"

  • "Always suspect of a place with a lot of tables open late in the week. Overall the meal was fine, but value per dollar was very poor. For between $30-37 per entree I was expecting a lot more. The service again was fine, but not outstanding when a couple spends $170 on dinner for 2 in a slow restaurant."

  • "Everything from the time we got to the Restaurant, to the time we left was amazing; Service was great, the starters we had were fantastic (Mussels and the Soup of the Day) the mains ( Peach Stuffed Pork Tenderloin, and the Bison burger) are a must have. For Dessert we had the Chocolate Torte a little rich but good and The Passion Fruit Creme Brulee very good! We will be back for sure to try more and take in the awesome view again. It was a great night out away from our boys. Will be recommending this restaurant to all of our friends and family."

  • "Service was great with not hovering at your table but there when you needed something. We ordered the pork tenderloin and was very tasty. Both the roasted Caesar salad and the potato and garlic soup were ordered and both were also very tasty. WE were too full for desert so not able to comment on those items."

  • "Service was excellent, food was above average and the wine list had a fantastic selection!"

  • "We had a gift certificate from our Realtor plus I had heard of this new restaurant and wanted to try it. I wanted to enjoy it since it was a gift. View was excellent and so was the decor. It looks like this should be a great place. Halibut and bacon soup was bland with poor ratio of bacon to halibut. It was a whole lot of meh. Bacon flavor could have permeated the creamy broth mixing with the subtlety of the halibut. Next was the bison burger. It was dry which makes sense since bison is somewhat hard to cook. They could use some practice. Also the bin was soggy on the bottom and really crusty on the top. Perhaps it was stale. One of my co diners had the same issue with her bun. Overall a great spot; not good value for the money"

  • "The wine and the dessert were the best parts. The good was (for the most part) bland. Our waiter did not bring the salad we actually ordered. Overall a disappointing visit. "

  • "The food, service and ambience was a lot more that I expected. It's so nice to see staff that is trained in the art of serving. Professional serving seems to becoming a dying art. I felt like my patronage was really appreciated, and the staff really cared about making my evening as enjoyable as possible. I think the manager made it to every table. The live guitarist was a nice touch and the view was amazing. I will certainly return and will not hesitate to recommend this wonderful restaurant to others."

  • "Good but not great. Had a steak, not cooked to medium rare, but medium well instead. Bread was a fairly bland opener. I had to ask the server what the features were.., and then she recommended against it...(the ravioli.. She said the portion was too small)..."

  • "Great Service. Our waiter Shawn was very attentive and informative and also had a fantastic personality. We ordered the buttermilk wings, bison burger and ribs. Each item was amazing and so were the drinks. We normally avoid fine dining restaurants because we tend feel out of place but we had a Groupon. We will be happy to return many more times."

  • "Construction at front. Signage non existent. Not an inviting entryway. Waiter too familiar. Joined our conversation at one point. Almost bullied us into ordering things we didn't care for. Too self assured. Even pushy. Food mediocre. "

  • "Terrible service, nobody greated us when we arrived, server didn't know much about the menu or the special of the day, she didnt offer refills on drinkd and she didn't even say thank you when we paid , she just walked away. It could be a romantic dining experience but the manager was very unprofessional . He was not only was playing hide and seek with our waitress but was also LOL ing very Loudly very often by the area with wine glasses! It was very annoying . The food was good but overpriced for the ambience . Very disappointed in this place. The chocolate brownie dessert was good and a large portion. ( great for sharing) "

  • "The room is and view are lovely but food was mediocre. Matt the waiter was friendly but had to read the specials. Several times a server brought the wrong food to our table. Restaurant smelled like fish. My husbands steak was warm, potatoes tasted stale. The soup of the day was average and chicken wings tasted good but were not crispy. Will not return."

  • "Beef carpaccio was great. Fish cakes needed some kind of acidity or brightness added. Our server had no real idea what the pasta special was, neither did the other server we heard describe it. The pasta dish was a bit too sweet and needed salt. Tiramisu wasn't boozy enough.. The creme brulee needed more sugar on top for a bit thicker crust. It was an alright meal, but very hit and miss. "

  • "In and out in just over an hour at lunch time. Food was really good, had the boar belly club and my guest had the grilled cheese. Service was prompt and the server was very pleasant and perfectly attentive."

  • "Waitress spilled water on chair and dropped utensils on floor. There was a wine special on Tuesday's for 50% off, we were told that if we used the group on coupon they would not honour the wine discount. The wine menu is way overpriced. We ordered a shrimp Patron appetizer. It was cold, tasteless, there was no hint of Patron Tequila. My wife and I each had the halibut, it too was tasteless, overcooked and dry. It came with 5 green beans and mashed potatoes for $33. Again overpriced! I was told they accepted all major credit cards when I called. This was not the case, my Amex was REFUSED! Good thing my wife had a different credit card or we would have been scrambling to pay for this substandard meal. My wife still insisted on tipping. Hummm!"

  • "First brunch was served on Mothers Day, it was awesome! I would definitely recommend to my friends for any meal. This is not a place I'd recommend for younger children. We will definitely be back!"

  • "I took my parents here for Mother's Day dinner. For three people, one appetizer, main, dessert and drink and no alcohol, the bill came to just under $200 after tax and tip. I leave it to you to judge if that makes this a special occasion restaurant or not for you, but I can say that the food and the view did not disappoint!"

  • "The food was excellent, I had a bacon wrapped pork tenderloin stuffed with peaches and a rice crocet with ginger and mango sauce. Absolutely amazing. We finished dinner with the delicious tiramisu. The ambiance was very much helped by the beautiful view of the river valley and legislature and our server was charming and friendly. "

  • "The food was a little different but was very, very good. It has a great view of the High level and river valley. Our waitress was on her first day but was very good."

  • "Booked dinner here after being recommended by friends...so disappointed. Service was less than stellar, waited 25 minutes for drinks to arrive. Wine list is quiet limited...lots of $10 wines that are listed for $40. Appetizers were luke warm, entrees over cooked...both the lamb and the halibut. Given that there a lot of really good restaurants in Edmonton, we will not be rushing back to this one."
