Enjoy5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNice for a younger crowd...We were expecting an evening of relaxation, gazing through a grand expanse of windows with a view, as one would imagine having seen the photos. In reality, the view is interrupted by a central wall so only 2/3 of the Penthouse is available for the view...and that is limited on the lounge side to two group tables and scattered lounge cubes - on the dining room side, to tables without the stunning northern coastal exposure. The place was filled, however, the servers were eager to please, the food (salmon) was great, but we were a bit too old for the high level of activity and noise. If you're young, and the primary view is your partner, The Penthouse will please. We went for DineLA and ordered the beet salad (Crisy greens, lots of beets, goat cheese and candied walnuts)and crab cakes (one of the best I've ever had.)appetizers. Both were excellent. We each order the filet (one med rare,one well done). They were well seasoned and cook just as ordered. Desserts were both excellent, but I really liked the small ice cream filled puffs drizzled with chocolate sauce with whipped cream on the side. Bar area was very busy and loud, but once at the table it didn't bother us. Wait staff was very attentive.
