Famed designer Thomas Schoos (best known for his work on restaurants such as Koi and TAO New York/Las Vegas) has teamed up with executive chef Seth Greenburg,… to manifest a new visual celebration of the senses. The Penthouse features a contemporary American Menu with bold global influences. Chef Greenburg who draws inspiration from the foods of France, Spain and beyond, presents a menu utilizing seasonal ingredients sourced from the Santa Monica farmers markets combined with unique ingredients from across the globe. This innovative menu includes dishes such as Crispy Duck Confit with Shaved Apple, Arugula and Black pepper Gastrique; Charred Octopus with Cannellini Beans and Spring onion Chimichurri; New Zealand Snapper with Potato Gnocchi and Steamed Clams; House Cured Charcuterie; Natural Premium Angus Beef. "We had a fantastic time at The Penthouse restaurant. The food, cocktails, view, ambiance and service was top notch. We arrived and our table was ready, our server was very friendly. Overall a great time. Would definitely go back."

"Very Noisy due mostly to the bar area making up about 75% of restaurant. Service was very slow due to a "computer issues" so my experience may not be typical. Views are outstanding. Worth visiting for the view."

"ehh--that would be my description of our Easter experience at The Penthouse. Probably a bad call on our part to go there given it definitely draws singles and couples and party pals. The food was very average. The pizza was forgettable, steak decent...but good mac n' cheese. The waiter was polite but barely audible and was uneven visiting the table. You pay up for the view so we came away feeling a bit foolish for spending the money given the service and food were below average...but, the restaurant has amazing views and that in itself is always a reason to visit. I think this is a better brunch spot or happy hour location--not really a place for a family dinner, or a dinner where the food is the...even when we want to be a little more "hip"

"Wanted a memorable Easter Brunch....The Penthouse delivered! We had a window table - view of the ocean was spectacular. But you can see the ocean or city view from any table. Service was great, not rushed for a holiday. Good Mimosas. Belgian waffles extremely light and melt in your mouth good. Good feedback on the Huevos Rancheros as well. Prices were moderate (again, for a holiday in particular). I liked that there was no prix fare or limited menu because of the holiday. The selections were plentiful. We WILL be going back. A dining gem!"

"I setup a business lunch here not having seen the restaurant nor met my clients before. I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very inviting and the view from the restaurant was amazing. The decor and the vibe was top notch.

The only downside for me was the lunch special. I ordered the Sea Bass ~$25 and was presented with a tiny little piece of fish and some mushy risotto that didn't warrant the price. I ate it but was not impressed. They could have done much better. Next time I am going for the Grilled Cheese and Beef Tips."

"The view of the beach and ocean is breathtaking. The lunchtime service for our party of six that included two children was excellent. Both the children's and adult's menus provided a variety of dishes. We can recommend our choices of fried chicken salad, sea bass, and sliders."

"I read some of the previous comments about the $35 flat bread appetizer, but didn't see it on the menu so figured they had taken it off. I ordered the "special" flat bread with black truffles and lo and behold - there was the $35 flat bread. It was a surprise at the end of the night when we got our bill. I really wish they would have mentioned that the price was a bit higher than their other $15 flat breads. I think it is sneaky and misleading. Don't get fooled! Not to mention the rest of our meal wasn't even that good!"

"The food is always good, the service is always fair, even with a reservation and open tables you still have to wait a while to be seated. They try, but the bar is backed up and you have to wait for drinks to be delievered to your table so if you want them before your food, consider ordering before you get to the table. Often parts of your meal are forgotten and you have to grab any waiter for help. It's pssoible they're under staffed when it comes to waiters, or some just aren't trained that well. A friend purchased what she thought was a great idea, a Gilt certificate for brunch with all you can drink, what you are not advised is there is a select menu that you must use if you have a Gilt certificate and not the best table."
