The Pelican Club, offering a wide range of fabulous New Orleans dishes, consists of three dining rooms and a large bar fashioned from a handsome, 19th-century French Quarter townhouse, rising from the corner of Bienville Street and Exchange Place in the heart of the French Quarter. Owner, Richard Hughes, and his wife, Jean Stinnett-Hughes, transformed a neglected architectural gem into a welcoming restaurant decorated in a crisp blend of traditional and contemporary. Each room has its own ambiance, created with such diverse elements as burnished Louisiana cypress, contemporary paintings by New Orleans artists, antique prints, and the dramatic contrast of black-leather banquettes against cream-colored brick walls. Such an atmosphere is sure to make your meal feel like a truly New Orleans experience.Continued

  • "This is about our 3rd time at Pelican. It never disappoints. The chef really knows how to handle fish. The crab cakes appetizer was fabulous. They have a signature whole flounder dish in a slightly sweet Asian sauce which is delicious, but unfortunately has a myriad of bones and takes forever to eat. I still like it, but my husband said he wouldn't order it again. The service was as always extremely good and very friendly. They also have very good cocktails."

  • "I have been here before and made my reservations through Open Table weeks before my trip to New Orleans. Had the Cioppino and had a wonderful (but a little bit messy) time searching for and enjoying shrimp, scallops, shrimp, and fish from my pot. Then crispy bread to soak up every last drop of sauce. My colleague had the lamb and was kind enough to share. So delicate and tasty. This is a great place to eat and in fact, dine. I will be back on business in five weeks. I look forward to another great dinner at the Pelican Club!"

  • "This is just a great restaurant, plain and simple. It's beautiful, the food is marvelous, the service very attentive without being overbearing. My only complaint is that the fish that I ordered was not what I expected. It's my fault for not inquiring as to the preparation. I expected it to be grilled, but it was lightly breaded and sauteed. I would have preferred the fish to be grilled. Other than that, an excellent meal."

  • "This restaurant seems to be good at handling large parties of 8 or more people. Our server was very helpful, kind and attentive also to our party of 2. The baked oysters were very good as was the white chocolate bread pudding other than that it was nothing special. I would not recommend this place for anyone seeking a great dining experience."

  • "The Pelican Club has always been a standard standby for New Orleans diners in the French Quarter. Definitely make a reservation if you're on a timetable. The staff is always helpful and friendly and works very diligently to make your dining experience an enjoyable fun and entertaining. I've had multiple family and corporate dinners there as well, and they are very adept at handling large groups and give them a "New Orleans" dining experience. The food is very good as well too, offering a range of seafood, meat, and "creole" style dishes."

  • "So I have mixed feelings about this place, the appetizers were great, mainly the escargots, but their duck was not great, although it is a trio, none of the cuts tasted as good as I expected and that was the main reason we chose that restaurant. The wife got the lamb chops, would say the same as not up to our expectations. desert though was pretty good mainly the pecan pie."

  • "First time in New Orleans, we were having Brunch at Green Goddess next door and a local lady said The Pelican club was her favorite. We decided to go for dinner, made reservations and headed there. Waitress was excellent! We both went for the 4 course meal, great choice! lots of food but go for it! I tried the oysters, both soups including Gumbo was delicious! Flounder was exquisite. Dessert was delicious. Coconut cream pie and chocolate decadence was just that! I recommended to anyone looking for great food and reasonable price for what you get. Cocktais were awesome as well! I will go back!"

I had the 4 course meal with the filet mingon and it was fantastic! If you do go there I recommend Marcus. Very professional and also has a good time. Even gave me champagne for my birthday. The food takes awhile to come out after each course, but who cares when you're eating some of the best and freshest seafood ever. The service is excellent. Dessert is not the best.   • "We have visited this restaurant on multiple occasions and keep coming back. Our only complaint in the past has been the noise level in the restaurant when it is running with a full house. We visited The Pelican Club on the night of the NBA All-Star game and found it to be very comfortable.. I think the food was the best ever and since it was not running at full house, the high level of service was even more (extra) attentive. This is one of the top five restaurants in the French Quarter!"

I had their wonderful lobsters with shrimp and scallops with escargots as an appetizer. My Valentine date (wife) had a scrumptious seafood salad and we shared both.   • "We had the good fortune to meet the owner of Windsor Fine Art on the golf course at English Turn. We picked his brain for dinner recommendations since he was a local and had obviously sampled many of the upscale offering of New Orleans. One of his recommendations was The Pelican Club and they had an opening that night. We were not disappointed. The seafood offerings were plentiful and their steak was superb. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. A great end to a great day in The Big Easy!"

The hostess had our table waiting after making our reservation on OpenTable. We had a great table in the corner of the first dining room - I would definitely recommend this location for a romantic dinner. Our server, Randy, was very knowledgeable on the menu and gave us excellent dish recommendations. We both chose the 4-course prie fixe menu. All the dishes were fantastic, but the gumbo, trio of duckling, and chocolate decadence cake stood out. The wine list was extensive and had several affordable options. It was great to go back to Pelican Club. We'll make sure we return soon."

  • "My wife and I had dinner there on new years day. I would describe it as mediocre food, mediocre service, mediocre art on walls of main dining area. Steak was literally inedible because it was so sinewy it could not be cut or chewed. Lobster was a bit gummy. We had previously eaten there 5 years ago and had a much better experience. Would definitely NOT recommend to friends."

  • "We thorougly enjoyed our dinner at The Pelican Club. We had the Turtle soup, Shrimp and Crab cakes, the Cioppino fish and pasta dish as well as the black drum fish with crabmeat. Everything was delicious and very well prepared. We left some room for the sorbet with fresh fruit and the pecan pie which were also excellent. Other than a rather large group of loud diners there that night, everything was very enjoyable. Our waiter was very accomodating, efficient and friendly - one of the best waiters we encountered during our 4 day visit."
