Diner Reviews
  • "This is my mother's new favorite restaurant. My sister and I took her here for her birthday a couple of weeks ago and she loved it. So when we were looking for a place to go after a show at the Lesher Center, Mom suggested we come back here. The only criticism would be that our table for two was practically right on top of another table with two guests. A private conversation would have been impossible. It was just lucky that we all ended up getting along and enjoying our conversation with them, since it would have been awkward not to have included them in our conversation."

  • "I met with my IT consultant for a review of our contract and to discuss upcoming planned implementations to our marketing efforts. Perfect spot for this....outside in the fresh air, just enough sunlight to brighten the day. Ideas flowed and the service was respectful and attentive. Not overly assertive, but truly a servants heart. The food was better than average for lunch. A nice menu that offers different ideas and suggestions for nourishment. Much like out meeting, new ideas that are a cut above....I'm a fan! "

  • "The food was amazing and so were the drinks, make reservations and make sure to tell them if you want an inside table or outside table. There was live music Saturday night when we were there."

  • "Had dinner dinner and went with the waiters suggestion of pork and beans which is a pork shoulder over beans. It was fantastic. The pork was so tender it broke apart easily with a fork and full of just wonderful flavor which paired well with the equally flavorful beans. My husband had the paella which was also delicious. Can't wait to go again."

  • "My review is too long. I can't tell my story. Guess they don't want to hear about the problem I experienced at all."

  • "Peasant & The Pear is among Danville's better choices. Consistent and comfortable."

  • "Having eaten lunch here many times before, this time was a bit disappointing. Our server recommended the waldof salad which came with a hunk of chicken breast on top and was under dressed and bland. I added lots of salt and pepper and extra dressing but it needed more zip. This place can be inconsistent so I will chalk it up to that and probably try it again but do not recommend this salad. My friend had a special salad which looked and tasted much better and she enjoyed it very much."

  • "Our group of 5 alumnae from elementary school get together regularly for mini-reunions and lunch. Had a very nice experience here. We were free to stay as long as we wanted to and to enjoy a leisurely lunch. The only negative is that our server neglected to tell us of the lunch special. We only learned of it by overhearing it announced by a different server at the next table. It was a mixture of shellfish and sounded delicious. Several of us would have ordered it if we had been informed. By the time we heard about it, we had already been served. We mentioned this oversight to our server. She seemed surprised that she had neglected to tell us about the special."

  • "If busy, it he restaurant can be a bit noisy but they do have a back room and the tables a further apart. I asked to be seated back there and was able to visit with my out of town friends. Food is always wonderful. The owners have several other restaurants in the area and all are very good."

  • "We had a very nice meal although it seemed like the Danville omelet was a bit bland. Service was excellent and the mimosa was delicious."

  • "Food was excellent. Didn't care for seating arrangement, noisy since seated in such close proximity to other patrons, not able to really have audible conversation with guest, and too close to other table. Felt like I was really having lunch with 5 people instead of 1."

  • "As always, server was charming and went out of the way to meet our needs."

  • "I love this restaurant! I dine here as often as I can because the food and service are amazing. It's nice being able to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the ambiance of the patio."

  • "We made reservations for my sons birthday. We had to push them an hour later at the last minute because we were in a minor car accident. They gladly obliged. We were immediately greeted and seated. Even before we ordered our meal we were treated to a starter plate as a nice gesture because of the car accident. That started off the dinner nicely. The four of us each choose something different from fish to steak, lamb and risotto. Every plate was prepared perfectly. They topped of the meal with a delicious birthday dessert. Enough for the four of us to share. It's difficult to find a restaurant that my entire family loves. The Peasant and The Pear achieved it beautifully. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go back."

  • "We went here for my birthday celebration and brought friends who had never dined here before. Everyone loved the food, wine, and especially the dessert. We will always keep the Peasant and the Pear (and Rodney Worth's other great restaurants) on our list of places to eat!"

  • "The staff could not have been nicer and was very accommodating. We unexpectedly ended up with an extra person and they found room for us despite the fact that the restaurant was crowded."

  • "Drinks: STRONG, but not overpowering. Perfect. Pear quesadilla - loooooved it! A great idea for a brunch or something along those lines. Beet salad: tasty and fresh. Double porkchop: perfect! The sides were tasty, but not impressive and I was slightly disappointed with the mac and cheese as it was not very cheesy, seemed more mayonnaisey. Paella: wonderful. Pineapple upside down bread pudding: A small portion, but oh so divine! Service was above average. We will come back!"

  • "I had a fabulous lunch here with a friend 6 months (or so) ago. Yesterday, not so much. Got seated by the kitchen, had a server who apparently had better things to do. She did take our order and brought the check. That was about it for "service." Oh wait, she remembered to ask if we wanted dessert. Maybe she saw the look on our faces when she brought the check. Since it was my friend's birthday, we did want dessert. Food was good, but everything else made it just okay. I think of myself as a pretty good tipper, but now I have more money left on my gift card than expected. Maybe will try again in another six months. I am sure we'll have a different server."

  • "The Peasant & The Pear has always treated me well. I have never been disappointed with the service or the food. I on't frequent this restaurant, but have been about 4-5 times in the past few years... and I will say they are consistently a good choice particularly for a good "date" spot. Sound levels are great so that you can converse and yet you don't ever feel like you are sitting "all alone". Servers have always been helpful and professional... and the food is generally delicious. My last visit here was not as great as in the past, but it was certainly still worth the reasonable prices they charge. I would definitely recommend this spot to any of my friends as an excellent place for a quality dinner with your significant other."

  • "I asked my dental assistant for a place to meet friends in Danville for brunch and, without pause, she said "The Peasant & The Pear". It was great to make reservations through OpenTable. The four of us had a great time talking and the food was delicious. I'm glad I took my dental assistant's recommendation and will continue to forward the message to others."

  • "Yummy Salads, Grilled Shrimp Cocktail, Salmon, with Kale & Quinoa....our dinner was fabulous as always. On the service front, the hostesses are lovely, but the restaurant could be better with attention and wait times."

  • "We have eaten several times at the Peasant & The Pear, and can honestly say that the food and service have never disappointed us. There is always plenty of variety to select from, and a great wine list. The menu changes from time to time, but for now, we would highly recommend the braised lamb which was fork tender. The only downside is yes, this restaurant is expensive, so be prepared to spend $20-$35 for your entrée plus $5 for sides, with the tradeoff being the food is wonderful."

  • "Service was off. Restaurant was not all that busy yet - slow to get service. Kudos to a server who remembered us from previous visits. He noted our server was nowhere to be found and graciously offered to place our drinks order, which he returned with right away. When our server arrived, we placed the order and advised her, after we finished our drinks, we would order wine to go with the meal. She placed the order in and it was delivered in under two minutes- we had barely begun our drinks. Naturally, the wine was moot, as we still had full drinks to accompany the meal. Food, as usual, was wonderful. Service on this early Friday night - not so hot. Not usual for this perennial favorite of ours."

  • "5 friends celebrated a birthday lunch here on Tues., Feb. 18. One of us ordered coffee; it came cold and with a "burnt taste". We told the server who replaced it with not so much as an "I'm sorry". She basically vanished thereafter. After lunch, coffee was ordered again. Server put it down so hard that it sloshed over the side; server ignored this and walked away. Server was called back & asked for a napkin to put in the saucer. Still, no apology. this is inexcusable service for a restaurant that prides itself in good food and good service. Our poor service did nothing to enhance this restaurant's reputation."

  • "The food was great as usual -- my husband had the filet mignon, and I had the gnocchi with black truffles and mushrooms. The only things that detracted from the experience were that the tables for two are set too close to each other, so we felt like we were having dinner with the couple sitting next to us. Also, the music could be set to a lower volume. Otherwise, a great experience as usual."

  • "Peasant & The Pear is one of the best restaurant in Danville, I've been here several times and tried a few dishes that have been consistently good, selections are OK but each dish is packed with flavor. A real neighborhood gem!"

  • "I took a client and his wife to dinner here and we had a very pleasant meal with attentive service. The food was very good. The portions of the appetizer, salad and dessert were large enough for 3 to share. I would go back there."

  • "Very good selection, three person party all tried something different and to a "T" all food was prepared and plated expertly. Food was Very Good from Scallops to Filet Mignon.....Great experience, bit pricey but a wonderful dinner.!"

  • "I took my girlfriend there for a valentines day dinner. It wa spendy but worth it. Even though they had a no substitutions special menu, they had an "off menu" vegetarian option for the main course. I called ahead to confirm the reservation and the vegetarian entree. When we got there our server already knew that we were ordering that and was very helpful. I recommend it for a special night out. We loved it!"

  • "This restaurant is a star. Its the only place in town where you can hear yourself and others to have a good conversation going. We have made the rounds and some are so noisy you can't have a relaxing time. The noise is offensive and I want to finish the meal and get out. Food is good too. The lamb shank is to die for!"

  • "Everything was wrong about our brunch experience on Super Bowl Sunday. The food was tasteless. The service was HORRIBLE. We waited 10 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink. We waited another 10 minutes to get the drinks and another 20 to get the water we asked at the same time we ordered the drinks. They didn't come back to take our food order for yet another 10 minutes. My wife who always insists on overly generous tipping agreed we should only leave $1. We enjoyed our first visit to this restaurant for dinner so I'll assume it is the daytime help that is incompetent."
