The Peasant & The Pearvery good food; mediocre winevery good food; mediocre wine list; caring but amateurish service; food quality far exceeds unsophisticated atmosphere. at this price level, not nearly as good as Essen, va-di-vee, prima, and other restaurants in t his price range.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunch spotI love meeting friends at The Peasant & The Pear for lunch! Service is always great and there are some items on the menu that I love and that I stick to. I am vegetarian and it's nice to find a place that offers me and my meat eating friends a variety, but we love the Bishop Ranch salad so much that is always part of our order! Delicious! I usually pair this with a San Ramon flatbread or a Pear quesadilla. I could eat the spicy pear chutney with a spoon! And I wish all restaurants would leave water on the table for us to refill our own glasses. It's left in a nice bottle, very cold. The Peasant & The Pear is a lovely restaurant to lunch in and enjoy each others company. I have not yet tried it for dinner.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThe cheese fondue was notThe cheese fondue was not nearly as good as usual. It was barely warm and had a grainy texture. The corner of the patio where we were sitting had a lot of spiderwebs in the corner, needs a bit of cleaning up.
Overall I do enjoy eating there, the food is usually consistent and I mostly dine for dinner.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA Very Nice RestaurantThe Waldorf Salad was a very tasty salad with grapes, cashews, grilled chicken, Romain lettuce, raisins, and poached Bosc pears. Other people in our group had the chicken sandwich and raved about it. Also, my friend loved the asparagus soup.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!We loved this place so much we came here twice in 10 days! My filet was cooked perfectly. My fiance had the sea bass the first time, and lamb the second. My dad on our second round had the porkchop. Everything here is excellent!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMIt Hit all the Right Notes!Went for an early lunch and had a great time. The service was efficient/pleasant. I had the Pacific Salmon w/sauteed green beans &d crispy fingerling potatoes. Salmon was cooked perfectly, green beans al dente and potatoes done just right. My companion had the prime rib french dip w/french fries. Prime rib was done perfectly and the french fries had this great seasoning on them which was wonderful. For dessert I had the dulce de leche bread pudding which was studded with dark chocolate chunks and a caramel sauce as well as a decadant scoop of banana ice cream - wonderful. My companion had the chocolate decadance (flourless chocolate cake) which was definitely decadant! Overall a wonderful experience. Would go back in a heartbeat.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommend Peasant & The PearLovely neighborhood restaurant with delicious food, especially the pear brie quesadilla, the fondue, and the warm pear tart. Service is always excellent, ambience is very nice and comfortable, and easy parking in the back.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrated Birthday! We had a great experience at this restaurant!! Will go again. And again. Everything was fantastic.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMParty of 10The food and service were outstanding. We had a table with verbal Italian women as well as a couple of infants. We had a wonderful time (never asked to keep the decibels down and knew at times we were trying to talk above eachother). Our waiter was very attentive and our celebration of a 60th birthday was honored by a delicious pear desert surprise. Lovely. We were there way past closing yet staff were gracious until we were ready to go. A final offer by staff to take a group photo in the garden patio completed our luncheon. Thank you to all staff for providing a fabulous dining/celebration experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite SpotWe love the Peasant & The Pear and chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The salmon and bass were delicious and the staff is wonderful.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial OccasionSix of us went to have a late night birthday dinner and Peasant and the Pear fit the bill. Four of us are foodies and found the meals perfectly cooked and flavors blended well with each dish. We started out with the white cheddar fondue and the spicy ahi tuna...amazing! Three of us had pork chops, brined and grilled very tender. The salmon was fabulous and the New York bistro steak with point reyes blue cheese was out of this world. The last person in our party had the baby back ribs, the meat fell right off the bone. Since this was a birthday party we had to try the desserts. The Pear tart was recommended, but we decided on the bread pudding, vanilla creme brule (traditional) and the flourless cake...all we could say was yummmmm!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFriday lunchMy friends and I had lunch here while going on the local garden tour. We were seated right away and decided on the patio since it was more quiet. We were served water right away and were told the special of the day. The service was good and the food delicious with both of us enjoying salads. We have eaten here before and always enjoy coming back. When we left we were thanked for coming.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerThis is one of our favorite restaurants and have been here many times, and every time had a great experience. This time, we came here for dinner for our anniversary on a Tuesday night. The place was moderately busy and pretty full by the time we left. The servers were prompt, fun and friendly. The wine list, while not huge, is very smart with good selections in all price ranges. The food was excellent. We started with the battered and fried asparagus, which was cooked perfectly. My wife had the salmon and loved it. It had a seared crust and was cooked exactly the way she requested. I had the spring chicken, which was also cooked to perfection.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was satisfactory. ServiceFood was satisfactory. Service was excellent. Tables are too close together and noise level is high.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect NightWe went to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Great drinks too!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband said he would haveMy husband said he would have preferred that the chicken on his cobb salad be sliced rather than whole. It makes it so much more work when not already sliced. Other than that, all was lovely, as usual. Erin was a wonderful server.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, another deliciousAs usual, another delicious dinner. There are lots of great dinner places in Danville, this one ranks in our top 5. Everyone was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was very good. I recommend starting your meal with the spring salad with all of its wonderful flavors and ending the meal with one of their delicious desserts. The pear tart with vanilla bean ice cream was great. For the main course, I had the baby back ribs. The meat fell off the bone it was so tender. The macaroni and cheese was good. I was hoping the jalapeno coleslaw was going to have more of a bite than it did, but it was still good. The others in my party had the salmon. They all cleaned their plates. For those on a small budget, I would recommend it for special occasions.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, overall experience.Wonderful, overall experience. Fabulous food and the bar, although small, is very friendly for both drinks and dinner for two.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to returnI loved this restaurant. From the asparagus appetizer, to the corn soup, to my pasta entree with chicken and fresh peas, it was all great. I can't wait to return during the warm summer months and sit outside. Make reservations as it was 100% booked.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great, especiallyEverything was great, especially the food! My only minor disapppointment was while our server was fantastic, she was responsible for too many tables and the service was not that good.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was amazing and so wasFood was amazing and so was the service.
Will be returning soon and will be talking to friends about it.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSkip the holidaysWent for prix-fixe Easter brunch...did not execute the menu very well considering there was a limited selection. The food seems to have sat waiting so that it was delivered on time, but eggs don't sit under heat lamps well. French toast was not very "Foster"y and sourdough crust was very tough, wished I had a steak knife. Regular menu on non-holiday is much better.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe arrived before 1:00 butWe arrived before 1:00 but were promptly seated at 1:00. The restaurant was filled with families because of Easter. We were seated next to two charming families and enjoyed conversation with them. The brunch menu was fixed but with choices. My husband enjoyed the prawn salad followed by prime rib hash. It was delicious and the hash serving was very generous. I had the green salad with warm brie and then the salmon. Very tasty and well prepared. Presentation was beautiful. We finished with desserts, Pear tart and chocolate salted carmel truffle cake. Wow, both very delicious. I have been to this restaurant before for lunch and dinner. I have never been disappointed. Try it!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe eat here frequently andWe eat here frequently and laways enjoy ourselves. Lamp shank was off the hook for me and my husband said his salmon was the best he had. The wine selection was great as we ordered a bottle that was very notable. Pear tart was a great end with a shared glass of port. We look forward to returning as we spent 3 hrs there.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific lunchWent for lunch w/ the ladies and was sooo pleased w/my grilled chicken/brie/ciabatta sandwich accompanied with a spring salad. I'd like to try dinner next time.1/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic FindFrom start to finish The Peasant & The Pear delivered on a spectacular evening out. We had a wonderful table and service was 5 stars all the way. This was our first visit and they hit full stride on all dishes at our table. My wife had the Fisherman's stew full of perfectly cooked shell fish in a chile broth, mother-in-law the lamb shank, a Flinstone size shank with flavor galore and I had the cassoulet, a dish of duck confit, sausage and pork belly with white beans + a caesar salad. There was not even a morsal of food on anyones plate. The Peasant & The Pear will most likely become our go to place. Hats off to the very talented chef and owner Rodney Worth. He is worthy of the title "Iron Chef".1/25/2013 12:00:00 AMnice lunch spotlove this restaurant. great food, good crowd, nice location. Last time I was there the crowd was much older, perhaps average age was 70, but it was still good and it may have been just for that day.
Don't let them seat you in the back, changes the entire feel of dining experience.1/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Sunday BrunchWe enjoyed a delicious Sunday brunch with outstanding service and a delightful atmosphere. The Peasant & The Pear is highly recommended.12/9/2012 12:00:00 AM
