  • "Taking a client out to dinner can make for a great evening. We original booked the reservation for outside at 6pm...but the heat of the day was still with us and we switched upon arrival and asked for an inside table for 5. In the blink of an eye and roughly 4 minutes later, we were seated comfortable with a nice view to the patio courtyard....Pork and Beans was the special for the Sunday dinner menu....most others chose the salmon and we had one Bistro steak. A bottle of Russian River Hana Sauvignon Blanc and the meal was complete with peach cobble and chocolate decadence cake.....This is our favorite and though we have tried others...Rodney is always spot on with his menu and ingredients"

  • "On previous visits, I have enjoyed the Signature Chicken Salad enormously. Unfortunately, the other day was not one of these occasions. The chicken salad tasted weathered and was quite acid. It must have been an off day in the kitchen. I will return and order something else as the courtyard is pleasant for an afternoon lunch."

  • "My wife and I have loved this place since our first visit several years ago and this visit for our anniversary was very nice, but not up to hte standard we have come to expect from this outstanding eatery. As always, the food was wonderful. I had Paella de la Tierra and my wife had their signature Italian lamb shank with creamy polenta. No complaints at all with the entrees. The weakness was with the service. After eating we waited many minutes to be asked if we wanted to see the desert menu. She then had to go back to actually get them. Again, we sat for a long time waiting to order. I should also mention that the description of the cherry cobbler did not match the excellent cobbler. A minor detail. Still, a great meal."

  • "It was a spontaneous decision to stop here on our return from a wonderful day in Yountville. We arrived just a 'bit to early' but we sat at the bar with a glass of wine while everyone scurried about getting ready for the evening dinner crowds. When ready, we were guided to our table and we made our meal selections. The bread is awesome with rosemary and salted crust. Don't eat too much of the bread and spoil your appetite. I ordered the double pork chop and it was awesome. Carefully trimmed back to the bone and presented with perfectly steamed spinach and creamy mashed potatoes. Very nice indeed. My wife had the Salmon and was not disappointed at all. Although, a 'wild' catch would have been more to her liking."

  • "We took some family and friends to lunch on our son's graduation day. The food was not as good as it usually is, and the place was surprisingly uncrowded. Service was slow and the server seemed distracted. It took a while to get water and receive appetizers. The hostess indicated that they would make note of the occasion, but there was no mention of it through the meal. Still a very nice place, but we may go to one of their other restaurants before we return to this one."

  • "Some places are unique for ONE thing. For me The Peasant & The Pear is unique for everything. The atmosphere, the staff, the close proximity to work and home, and of course the delicious food. I have never had a bad experience with any of the above at TP&TP. If you don't believe me you should go try and prove me wrong. But make sure you go with an open heart and an empty stomach."

  • "It started with a pleasant waiter. He saw that we were celebrating and got right into the spirit. Giving us just the right amount of space and attention at the same time.. We tried so many things on the menu like the grilled shrimp appetizer and the ahi tuna appetizer which were both yummy. Because we had just seen the movie The Chef we ordered a Cubano sandwich for the table and then ordered the grilled salmon, the prawn salad, and the amazing hamburger along with a flatbread pizza. All excellent. "

  • "Had dinner at the "Pear" a few nights ago. This was a holiday weekend but no problem getting a table. The place was nearly full by the time we arrived but our table was waiting for us. Two couples with lots to catch up on. We food was great (we expected that), the service impeccable, the noise level was perfect for active conversation, and we had a wonderful visit. "

Lamb shank was had by three of us and the pork chop is the best my husband has ever had, so he says. ( he is very picky) Danville is such a charming town and this restaurant fits in very nicely."

  • "Was celebrating my husband's birthday. Mentioned to the maître D and during reservation. Server was cold and didn't even take the time to go over the daily specials. When we were done with the meal, we were presented with the check. Forget about celebrating birthday. Server didn't even asked if we wanted dessert. Disappointing! "

  • "I thought the restaurant experience was just "good". The service was timely and somewhat attentive. But the server was lacking in personality. Perhaps she is the quiet type a good quality but not for serving. We did not connect with her and part of the reason for going out is to interact with the people who are taking care of us. My wife had the lamb and it was not as good as in the past. Call me critical but when I am paying these prices I think I can get more out of going to Haps or a brewery in downtown San Ramon. We have eaten at the Peasant and the Pear several times and this just did not meet up with our standards."

  • "We met another couple for an impromptu meal and selected the P & P because it was advertised as "casual." Many customers were in casual dress, but the ambiance of the restaurant itself was very genteel. The Cesar Salad was very good with excellent optional anchovies and large enough for two to easily share. My husband had the much talked about lamb shank; nothing remained of his meal afterwards but a bone. I had a San Ramon flat bread pizza and found it very flavorful. Our friends were equally impressed with their meal choices. We had not been here before but will certain return. One hint for newbies like myself, there is a back door from the parking lot. You don't need to walk around the block to the front of the building."

He was an older gentleman...he seemed overwhelmed or distracted, almost unpleasant. However, the wonderful waiter & other staff made up for it and made the experience very nice. The harvest pizza was fresh & well balanced with sweet, savory, salty & aromatic flavours. "

  • "My friend and I have eaten lunch here for several years after the AAUW garden tour and holiday homes tour and always get good service.This year we both had the bistro burger and it came cooked just the way we requested. My Friend said it was the best burger she had ever eaten but it is big and we were both too full for dessert. We were seated promptly and water was brought right away. Our order was taken soon after we arrived but we were given time to enjoy our lunch without being rushed."

  • "I usually have the black and bleu salad, romaine, blue cheese and filet mignon tips, which is an excellent lunch item. Their happy hour, 2:30pm to 5pm is fabulous. They have a great NY cheese fondue with pear slices, grapes and bread, and different flatbreads that are very inexpensive. The calamari is okay if you like jalapeno's - pretty hot!! The happy hour prices are hard to beat."

All meals were satisfactory, but it was mentioned by the two with quiche that the presentation was rather abysmal. Quiche which was the same color as the plate was just tossed on with no sprig of parsley or anything for color. "
