The PearlExcellent, as usualGreat meal, excellent service from Rico. Glad to see reservation timeliness is improving. Menu is great, one of our favorite new restaurants in Columbus.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!
Definitely one thatLoved it!
Definitely one that should go in the rotation, Cameron Mitchell knows how to do it!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMEAT DINNER, PASS ON BRUNCHi LOVE THE PEARL FOR DINNER. The food is great at night and because of that we chose The Pearl for brunch. The food was disappointing. The poached eggs were too well-done. They were more like soft boiled eggs, which doesn't work. The sausage sauce was too salty. There weren't enough brunch type choices. Everyone in my group (4 people) was disappointed. We won't be going to The Pearl for brunch unless it changes. We will still go for dinner, but we were really hoping for Cameron Mitchell greatness and didn't get it.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodThis was a fun place for a special occasion and to try something different. The food was fantastic and drinks were great too. The restaurant was busy so the service was a little slow, 10 minutes before our waiter came to the table in the beginning, but after that he was very attentive.
Over all, great new place in town. Next time I want to sit by the open store-front!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMitchell's has another winner.Early dinner on Sunday. Place was very busy even though it was around 5 p.m. Meal was excellent with the exception of the pie. Not much taste in the strawberry and chocolate concoction. Needs better grade of chocolate. Nice to have a good selection of oysters. The pork medley was especially good.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLively, delicious night outStarted the night with drinks at the bar. It was a busy night and the bartenders were a little flustered, but still friendly and helpful. The Grapefruit Punch was refreshing and tart. Husband enjoyed the beer selection. We were seated shortly after our reservation time. Our waiter was friendly, answered our questions well, but you could tell he was a little hurried. We started with the Baked Clams and the Deviled Eggs, both were excellent. Husband had the Beet Salad, Spinach salad for me. Next, I had the Pub Burger, medium, Husband had the Short Rib. I usually have "dinner envy" whenever I don't order a short rib entree, but not this time. The burger was one of the best I've ever had. You must try the Brown Sugar Pie a la mode!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic place to dine!From the moment we walked in the door we loved The Pearl! Up beat fun place to dine. Everything was absolutely wonderful from the friendly hostess, to the fantastic attentive waiter, to the great drinks and wonderful food! Loved it! Can't wait to go back!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingI love this reaturant! Food was delicious and the decor was outstanding!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother hit for Cameron MitchellGo to The Pearl. Enjoy the open air feeling in the front half with the windows wide open. The menu has twists on favorites. Of particular note, try the appetizer "Devils on Horseback" - figs stuffed with cheese wrapped in applewood smoked bacon. My 12 & 14 year old sons LOVED these! Everything came out prepared as described and promised. Our waiter clearly loves his job and was extremely helpful with explaining how dishes are prepared. Make sure to sample their in-house made hot sauce - smoky with a bite, very good on the Cuban sandwich. We will be back.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMHip place, delicious food & drinksCameron Mitchell sets high expectations, and The Pearl does not disappoint! Awesome hip atmosphere, terrific food, & delicious drinks.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great night at theWe had a great night at the Pearl. The energy in the restaurant was fun and the menu has a wide variety of items to choose from. The Devils on Horseback were delicious, as was the beet salad and fish and chips.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHot Spot in Short NorthGreat spot for a fun night with excellent food and superior service. Best fried chicken in Columbus and the desserts are killers.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGals' Night OutMy friends and I chose The Pearl for our gal pals' night out, and we couldn't have been more delighted with our experience. The food and service were outstanding, and the atmosphere was classy without being overly presumptuous. Furthermore, as we are all librarians, we were pleased as punch when we received our bills in used books!! A most memorable experience for our fun occasion!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMust returnToo many good things on the menu is a good thing! We will definitely be back5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly the gem of all CMI've been several times now and each time I love it. We took friends from California and another couple who all absolutely loved it andcan't wait to come back.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Pearl is truly a gem!Excellent service. Excellent food. Excellent atmosphere. I can't say enough good things about my recent night at The Pearl. I will definitely go back. Another bright spot in the best neighborhood in Columbus.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious! TheThe food was delicious! The pricing was appropriate! Can't wait to return!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMabsolutely fabulous!We had a WONDERFUL Mother's Day brunch at The Pearl. Columbus's dining scene is full of great restaurants and yet the Pearl has already managed to become one of my favorites. Unsurpassed service and food. Everything on the menu a delight! I've had the Tavern Benny and the Huevos Rancheros... both unbelievably delicious! I've tried bits of the pancakes and grilled cheese as well, you can't go wrong! Love this place! (and so reasonably priced as well!)5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPearlifficMy wife and I attended the Pearl for a combined birthday and Mother's Day celebration. The food was phenomenal. We enjoyed the bacon wrapped dates, spinach salad and dressed blue crab as appetizers. They were all perfectly sized and tasty. My wife had the pub burger and I had the chicken wings confit and they exceeded all expectations. We were simply too full for dessert.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat conceptIt is nice to see this concept in the CM line-up! The food was good, the service was GREAT, and the wine list is nice. I was left a bit flat by the punch offerings - have had much better offerings at a couple of NY "GastroPub" establishments. We had reservations at 7pm, we arrived at 6:45 and were not seated until 7:20! Although we were offered a high 4-top in the bar at 7pm, (our reservations were for 8 people - 5 people showed) we turned it down due to the lack of space in the bar area. In all, we had a good time, but not sure we would go back as a group. However, I think my husband and I will venture back in the near future!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMthe pearl is awesomeFood was awesome as was the service and the decor was very nice. A little pricey but worth it. CM restaurants are great.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWife's birthday dinnerThis place was amazing! The staff has an excellent knowledge of the menu and are very helpful. The pricing is very reasonable and the food is fresh. I have already recommended it to many people. It is a busy place (two hour wait on Tuesday night), so be sure to make reservations. Well worth it.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMfried chicken is excellentHad the southern fried chicken. Chicken was moist, tender, flavorful, not greasy. Top notch. I found it needed a little salt, but this wasn't a problem. The sticky bun it came with was also breast, as was a beet salad I ordered. The collard greens though were far too salty for my taste.
My wife had the fish and chips. Fish was good but the fries were not so great. They tasted a little burnt or as if they'd been fried in oil that needed changing.
The kids liked their burgers but weren't crazy about the fries either. Overall, the fried chicken is so wonderful that it's worth a visit, but not everything we tried hit the same home run.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall Great ExperienceMy husband and I found The Pearl while browsing through the restaurants on Open Table, looking for something new. When we arrived, we were seated immediately and I loved the atmosphere and "style" of the restaurant. At our table, there were mason jars for our water glasses! The menu was small, but you could tell that each dish was carefully selected. We ended up ordering the parmesan baked clams, the Ricotta Dumplings and the special, which was a Red Snapper. Every single dish was delicious and we would highly reccomend the food again and again. The only drawback would be the portion size vs. the price and even then it wasn't like I left hungry. Oh... and we had the pleasure of sitting next to Mayor Coleman :)5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMNice new restaurant in Short NorthThe menu is very limited - not a broad selection. The fish & chips were very good - the tarter sauces was VERY good! Cocktails were good. Loved the decor of the restaurant.. Service was very good. We had reservations & I highly suggested having them. All-in-all it was a great experience - just wish the menu had a better or bigger variety.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNiceEverything was very good about our dinner at the Pearl. There was little wait for either our drinks or food. Service was attentive. Noise level was high--dfficult to have any lengthy conversations.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperienceThe atmosphere is cool and the food was outstanding as I have come to expect from Cameron Mitchell Properties. The real treat for me was the staff. Restaurant employees create and maintain the energy of any dining establishment. From the second my party walked through the door at Pearl we felt welcomed. The energy level was high, even at 3:00 in the afternoon. Service and product knowledge were both off the chart good which was important since we were ordering oysters and had limited knowledge regarding a couple of the varieties offered. After dining we stopped at the bar for a couple of extra beers and found the bar staff to be excellent as well. Highly recommend Pearl.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting but averageWe were interested in trying this new place. It was a nice night and the bar was open to the outside. Our seating at a round high table was OK but not totally comfortable. The waitress was great. The menu was limited and the overall quality was just average. I wouldn't travel to the Short North for this but would choose a local bar and grill.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing experienceMy boyfriend and I had an amazing time at this restaurant - the people, the decor, the food - all amazing! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will be going back!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFried Chicken in the Short NorthThis is a favorite new destination. Great, eclectic mix of a menu that is definitely for foodies. On this visit I finally got around to trying the Fried Chicken. Served southern-style with four very manageable pieces with perfectly crispy, light, seasoned coating wrapped around juicy, tender meat. The greens were vinegary and authentic and the cinnamon sweet roll in the basket was the perfect butter-sugar delivery system in a soft, sweet dough.
Our server recommended a great IPA for me and the beer list alone is worth the trip -- paired with the dozen icy cold oysters and sauces it was a great way to start the meal. Can't visit this place enough!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was stellar. FoodEverything was stellar. Food was absolutely amazing with an emphasis on the fried chicken and sticky bun. The punch was not only delicious, but unique and a great way to share cocktails amongst friends. Katie was friendly, attentive and charming. The Pearl is a great hit and I can't wait to go again on my next trip to Columbus5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat casual placeReally enjoyed the Peral. The oysters were delicious and the atmosphere was fun. The menu was diverse and my entree, the hangar steak was delicious. My only complaint was that the fish selection was a bit of a challenge in that they were compared to salmon and if you don't like salmon, you had to go the fried route. Outside of that, very enjoyable.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAn exceptional experience!An exceptional experience! Took our daughter to The Pearl for her 16th birthday (her choice) and the whole evening was perfect. The staff greeted her with a virgin "birthday" cocktail. Numerous staff members stopped by our table to tell her Happy Birthday. She loved her meal and even said she wanted to come back to The Pearl on her 17th birthday. She finished off her meal with a fabulous dessert!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMa little cramped and a littlea little cramped and a little expensive but the food is glorious... try to get a seat near the open windows in the spring/summer!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic PearlsLike a string of pearls that are basic and goes with everything so does the "Pearl". This is our third visit and the second for brunch. The bloody mary and smoked salmon is our favorites for brunch. Most the appetizers are very good. I had the grilled cheese sandwich with pear and I wasn't impressed. My son was disappointed in the heuvo rancheros. He thought they had a funky sweet taste. We hear the fried chicken is good and are looking forward to trying it next time. Like all CM restaurants there is more good about the Pearl than bad and we will continue to visit.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMI went twice in a week becauseI went twice in a week because when you find great food and service combined, you want to share it with great friends!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place - haven't hadGreat place - haven't had the brunch YET but have heard it is incredible. The deviled eggs are amazing. Salmon cooked to perfection.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable time at very well-runEnjoyable time at very well-run establishment. The menu is unique yet familiar enough to provide an option for everyone in your group. Perfect fit for the Short North neighborhood!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. LoveGreat food and service. Love the oysters and blackberry and sugar pies. Very noisy.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe design was wonderful.The design was wonderful. Just the right amount of quirkiness. Very comfortable Just great. I can say the same for the staff. They seemed just right for the environment of the restaurant. The menu was interesting......and enough different that we had to ask questions, which I like. I had salmon which was undercooked for my taste although I know many people prefer it that way. We enjoyed the oysters and deviled eggs! I love the name, "The Pearl".4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMmixed but hopefulfrench fries were cold and not crisp; fish and chips; the fish was mostly batter and grease;
salad was very good; cajun oysters were served cold;4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it! Delicious!Loved it! Delicious! Service was so fast on everything!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAll of the food that we orderedAll of the food that we ordered was excellent. Great beer list as well.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMReally loved the fun drinkReally loved the fun drink menu, and the service was fantastic!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was some of theThe service was some of the best we received in Columbus. The food was very very good, however a little more bland that we expected.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMjust love everything about PearlIt has become on our favorites. When your twelve year old is excited to hear that's where your headed, that says something. Made it there for the transition from brunch to dinner. We all ordered off the brunch menu. Once again we were impressed with what each of us ordered that we all shared.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat New PlaceFood was absolutely delicious .Seating is a little to close together.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMCool environment with friendlyCool environment with friendly service and over priced food. The food was good but not good enough for the price I paid. I would go back for happy hour special but not for dinner and I would try the brunch4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat OystersWe heard that this place has their oysters flown in daily, and judging from the quality and price it's true! The Pearl has several varieties of east coast oysters as well as some from the west coast. You'll pay almost $3 per oyster, but remember that you're in Ohio--you don't really want bargain oysters this far inland, and these were worth every penny. My group of four had 2 dozen, along with drinks and appetizers. Everything we tried was delicious, fresh, and delivered by friendly servers--the manager was also great. Even though we arrived much earlier than our reservation time he sat us immediately. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves fresh seafood. Tip: oyster bar in front is first come, first served.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMTwo people in our party hadTwo people in our party had the braised short ribs over horseradish mashed potatoes. That dish got rave reviews. A third guest opted for the special which was Scottish salmon and quinoa. She was delighted with her selection as well. The final guest had the fried chicken. That got mediocre review. Didn't appear to be fully cooked and the cinnamon roll side made for a strange combo. Atmosphere was loud, every energetic, very crowded. Tables close together. We sat in back where it was a bit easier to converse rather than the bar area where we started out. Will try this restaurant again.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
