Diner Reviews
  • "From the free online reservation to the friendly staff through the entire meal we were quite pleased with our experience at The Pearl. The jalapeño cornbread was a great starter for four of us to share. I was wonderfully surprised by how good the Cuban sandwich was, and there were ample drink options as far as beer, wine, and cocktails. We spent two hours there on a Saturday evening and never felt rushed. All in all it was a great experience."

  • "Food is over-priced even for a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. Food is ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Seating is very close together, if you are looking for an intimate location this is not it. Have enjoyed all of Cameron's restaurants multiple times. Unfortunately The Pearl misses the mark."

  • "Great Short North spot. Better service and not as crowded together as other eclectic places in the area. Food was good. Small selection of oysters but worth ordering and sharing. Everything we ate had a good presentation and the taste was excellent."

  • "This is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots! Great food, fantastic service, always fun. Try the Manhattan - its a must!"

  • "We dined at The Pearl and had amazing service from Andy! This is the second time he has waited on us and his service is always above & beyond! The food was amazing and Andy have us great recommendations on what to order. Fun atmosphere! We will dine here again & highly recommend it to our friends!"

  • "Wonderful menu (try the spoon cornbread, pork belly taco, and curds). The punches are delicious and the fried chicken is fantastic. Go. Do it."

  • "I have been to the Pearl many times and always had a wonderful experience. If you like raw oysters, stop in during happy hour because they are $1 a piece and also cocktails are half off during that time. The chicken and waffles served during brunch are excellent and I've also had a couple of the dinner items and was very satisfied with each."

  • "I've been to the Pearl a couple times now and haven't been disappointed. I ordered the roast chicken with quinoa and it was super delicious. Definitely save room for a piece of pie because it was outstanding."

  • "Great time. It was our second visit and we'd still go back. It seems like it's obviously 'engineered' to be trendy, but it still works. Hostess, bartenders and server were all very friendly, good was excellent and they comp'd a beer just for waiting for the line to be changed. Overall a great time and a vibrant atmosphere!"

  • "My parents came into town to visit me from Chicago and I wanted to show columbus off a little bit. I love the pearl for its sophisticated atmospher and great food and drink menu. I love that it doesn't feel too stuffy yet you feel like you are in a place where the service and dining are above par. Coming from Chicago my family is used to fine dining pretty anywhere and this place is right up there with what we're used to!"

  • "We had a vendor coming in for a visit and wanted to take them somewhere they wouldn't likely have in their home town. We chose The Pearl based on past experience and location to our guests hotel. Reservations were made for 7. The only complaint I have about the entire evening was that we arrived at 7 and still had to wait for about 20 mins before we were seated. The restaurant doesn't have many tables available for parties over 4 people. The food was excellent and the wine was great too, though pricey. Our server was attentive without being a bother. I would suggest it to others."

  • "We enjoyed our time. The menu is limited and nothing grabs you. The food was good, but I felt it could be a little more interesting."

  • "This place was amazing! I was looking for a new place, with good food and a fun scene. The Pearl came highly recommended....and now I know why! The Pearl delivered twofold! My friends were in from out of town and once they were home they were writing me to tell me how much they enjoyed this place and were ready to go back. I couldn't agree more!! The oysters were FAB and that burger...o.m.g!! The staff was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere bustling with energy. The Pearl is a definite "go to" place....so if you haven't been-- GO!! I am already looking forward to my next visit!"

  • "First experience wasn't that great so we finally returned for a second try and we can gladly say it was much better experience. Apps and cocktails were once again fantastic (try the Moscow Mule!). My wife is vegetarian and she had side of cauliflower and spinach salad; both were great. I had the Pork Trio which had pork cheek which I wanted to try and it was excellent."

  • "Very nice ambience. Great service and food is good. Comfortable atmosphere. Only issue here is parking. We visited on a week night. I don't think I would go on a weekend due to parking concerns"

  • "Late me say, the look of this restaurant is awesome! I can't believe it's the same building. 5 stars to the decor and layout etc. Our server Channing was really knowledgeable and confident, and there were no loose ends to speak of whatsoever from the hospitality down to the incredible speed that food comes out of the kitchen. There's a reason that place is packed every day of the week. Now two things in the negative I will speak of. It's VERY expensive. Beers are super steep. I tried the sea bass dish, and it was well cooked but the flavors were nothing special. And 11 dollars for 3 forgettable oysters seemed steep. It's a shame if the food wowed this would be an A+,alas the cuisine was pretty uninspired. It's a weird menu to pick from."

  • "I loved everything about it except our waiter. He seemed arrogant and not attentive. Whenever we asked for something, he said no problem but his body language said, you are bothering me."

  • "I took the boss to The Pearl and he is use to good dining being from Chicago. We enjoyed it and found the service to be outstanding. The drinks and appetizers were expensive but good. Food was flavorful. However with a name like The Pearl we expected more seafood options."

  • "Menu was too limited for us, we left The Pearl and went to Marchella's."

  • "I like the pearl for trying different appetizers and foods. Thought that the idea of bringing the check out in a book that you are free to write in was a awesome idea."

  • "My boyfriend loves oysters and has been wanting to try The Pearl since it opened last year. The service was excellent and the food was very good. I'm a bit picky, but was able to find something that I enjoyed. The drinks were also excellent."

  • "Great decor with a nice crowd of professional people there for happy hour. The menu is small enough that each selection should be able to be executed perfectly but was not. I had the grilled brie cheese with pear. It was so greasy that I could hardly eat it. My husband had a cheeseburger that was prepared well and the fries were good. The happy hour smoked salmon was good but not something we would likely order again. I would return again for a beer because they had a great selection of craft beers on draught but never again for the so-so food."

  • "We don't get downtown in the evening that often, but have been to The Pearl twice now and it was worth the drive, and gives you a chance to take a walk around the short north area to see what's happening. The baked oyster appetizer was awesome, but it was small to share with only three. Arctic Char was a repeat for me, and just as good as the first time - really loved the grilled cauliflower. We split a spinach salad providing just the right amount, and my husband dove into a monster strip steak. I really liked that they focused on a vegetable side with each dinner, not a starch. Prices were very reasonable for the quality. It is pretty loud, so plan for that."

  • "Off to a poor start with front of house staff. Open tables visible for our group of 7, had reservation, but their plan was to sit us In occupied spaces that were not clearing. Not pleased when I requested attention. Menu is fine if limited. Every plate with a pile of fries were cold. Fish fry was good, burgers as well. Roasted chicken choice very small. Not a craft beer fan, but they offer many choices. Too many other really good spots in Cbus to wait on que for this one. Was not impressed enough to return."

  • "Initially I had a party of 4, then I obtained two stragglers. The hostess and wait staff were very accommodating. Not only had my party grown unexpectedly, but they were unbearably late. Again, Josh, our waiter was very understanding and made sure I was comfortable until everyone arrived. He was very patient and attentive Thank you for making my first experience at The Pearl a great one. I plan to visit often...alone :)"

  • "I want to like The Pearl SO badly. This is the second time I've dined at this restaurant and, although this experience was better than the first time, I still was not impressed. The wait was over a half hour (with a reservation) but we got a great booth toward the back of the restaurant so we quickly forgot about the fact that we didn't sit down to dinner until after 9:00pm. The waiter was nice, however he frequently stopped looking at us while taking our order to watch the March Madness game on TV (we get it, but come on!). The drinks were watered down and the food was just 'OK'. The Fish and Chips meal was the best at our table. I had the special which was mahi-mahi with couscous. It was cooked well, but the flavors were bland."

  • "We loved the freshness of the food. We also had the deviled eggs as a starter...delicious. We needed gluten free menus and choose the Artic Char and would highly recommend."

  • "For a restaurant called The Pearl there were very few seafood choices. Only 3 types of oysters on the half shell and far more expensive than other oyster options in the area. One of us ordered a steak medium that was delivered to the table as a still mooing very blood red rare."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Bustling atmosphere and close quarters reminds you that you are downtown and lucky to get a seat. My salad was an a-la-carte blue-cheese and nutty flavor which I will order again. Dinner was fried AWESOME chicken. It was four or five balls of chicken breast (not a typical shape), lightly breaded but not too crunchy. It was so moist and flavorful! My friend had a spinach salad and the homemade sausage sampler, which she loved. It was tender, sweet and a little like the sauerkraut it was served on. She did have to keep her imagination in check, though, while eating the dark, curled piece of sausage. Wine by the glass selection is ok but this is a tavern that specializes in beer. Can't wait to go back and take more friends!"

  • "Appetizers of baked clams and french fries and for dinner the sea bass with cauliflower purée was outstanding and last but not least the strip steak, medium rare was cooked to perfection! My boyfriend and I had a gift card and after our great experience we were both disappointed we hadn't made it a point to try The Pearl sooner. We will defiantly be back!"

  • "Food was excellent especially the spoon cornbread appetizer. The striped bass entree was tasty as well. Service was good, but not great. A plethora of servers and many of them spent their time talking to each other rather than serving guests, while our drink glasses went empty. Took far too long to get a beer from the bar that was no more than 15 ft.away. Less than wow service will not deter us from coming back. The food speaks for itself and we loved the diner like atmosphere."

  • "Had a lovely meal with out of town guests form NY. Our sever was a little frazzled with how busy he was, but he was pleasant and our food was quite good. Lots of gastro-pub fare options - love the bacon wrapped dates - YUM. Have been back since and will be back again."

  • "I have a new favorite in Columbus. Whether dining out for a romantic date night or just stopping by the bar for their happy hour specials , this place is on point. From their confit chicken wings to their pork trio, even their expertly crafted cocktails left nothing to be desired. The decor is beautiful and the staff was beyond helpful and friendly. Being from Cleveland makes me want to make the drive down just for this place !"
