Diner Reviews
  • "I LOVE "The Pearl", not only is the atmosphere extremely asthetically pleasing, but the food is divine and one of a kind. If I had to recommend any items, it would be the deviled eggs (which I typically distaste, yet some how The Pearl makes them perfect) and the braised short rib (an incredible melt-in-your-mouth texture, cannot even begin to put into words). Overall, another fantastic Cameron Mitchell restaurant."

  • "Found this spot on Open Table and after reading the reviews decided to try it out. Was not disappointed. Loved the monk fish and veges. Don't miss ordering the spoon corn bread...amazing with the accompanying honey butter."

  • "Great food and service as always. My only complaint was the large table next to us. I was there with my 2 little girls & they were telling lots of inappropriate stories & cussing a lot for sunday lunch time :( For this reason I tried to rush our lunch. If it was not for this (or if I had been there with adults) it would have been great!"

  • "The Pearl has been a favorite for my husband and me since our first experience. We go there as often as possible; for special occasions and just because. Everything we've tasted has been wonderful! Recently, the service hasn't been as good but we will continue to dine at The Pearl every chance we get!"

  • "New to C-bus and needed a suitable place for me and my 89 year old mother who LOVES clams and oysters. The Pearl was the perfect fit. Opening at 4:00 (thank you says Mother) The fresh shucked oysters and clams were perfect. The lovely hostess at the front was super friendly and accommodating. Cory, our server was efficient, friendly and very knowledgeable. Funky atmosphere gives the diner much to enjoy while relaxing. Thanks to all."

  • "As a returning guest, The Pearl had its ups and downs last night. Shrimp and Grits and Devils on Horseback were both amazing menu choices as were the fresh Oysters!; however, their version of Southern Fried Chicken left everyone wishing for something different. Although very busy, initial greeting and drink service was very slow, and the Margarita was not drinkable. Stick to the Moscow Mule for a great refreshing drink, if you visit. The Pearl is always fun and energetic but last night just a little better than average."

  • "Loved the food and the menu can appeal to a seafood or carnivore! Only complaint - it was fairly difficult to hear my companions because of the noise level BUT would still go back"

  • "My wife and I took my son and daughter in law here for their 1st anniversary. The menu is incredible. It ranges from burgers to excellent choices of fish and steaks. My son and I had the shrimp and grits. It was served with kielbasa, poblano peppers and Gouda cheese. Nice combination of flavors. We both loved it. My wife had the fish special of the night which was a white salmon I believe in a white wine sauce. Wonderful. I can't remember what my daughter in law had. The restaurant gave the anniversary couple a piece of their to die for brown sugar pie. Service was great. The atmosphere is so upbeat and fun. It's a great place to go in the Short North in Columbus. They will see me again very soon. Cameron Mitchell has scored once again!!"

  • "Took a business partner here. Great European inspired good. Wonderful oysters, mussels and fish. And the corn bread, as well as the deviled eggs were to die for. Not too loud. Fun scene. Not the preppy crowd, but the cool established crowd. I will go back"

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed The Pearl - the food and atmosphere reminded us of the years we lived in Charleston, SC. The food was wonderful!"

  • "My daughter made the reservations - wasn't sure since I am not an oyster lover. Bar packed, excellent beer selection, good Moscow Mules too! She advised the bacon wrapped scallops for a starter, best I ever had. I ordered the cheese curds - perfectly fried with a dipping sauce to die for. I had the Hanger steak, done exactly to my liking, with fried rice and a fried egg on top. Yum. I'd not only go back, I'd recommend The Pearl to anyone going to Columbus."

  • "Since this is a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, I guess I expected the food to be excellent. The only thing that deterred from an enjoyable experience was the level of noise and crowded conditions. We only had a table of four, but it was difficult to carry on any type of discussion without yelling at each other. I probably will not go back to The Pearl, but will certainly visit other Cameron Mitchell establishments."

  • "Cute place . Loud like Marcella's next door. Food took a long time as every table around us had theirs and was done by the time we got ours, no recognition of delay. Otherwise , fun to try something new . Get the cornbread for sure as an app!"

  • "Good experience overall, the salmon special and the shrimp & grits were both delicious. However, the restaurant was borderline uncomfortably warm and the service didn't seem genuinely friendly."

  • "Dining at the Pearl was fantastic. We sampled several menu items. The servings were perfect to be able to order multiple items to try. The service was top notch. We dined for our anniversary and they took care of us the moment we walked in. We will be back and we will be bringing friends to experience."

  • "We love Cameron Mitchell restaurants, but this wasn't one of them. Restaurant wasn't crowded but service was slow. Took 30 minutes for our entree. Kitchen must have overlooked it on a counter because the fish was room temperature when served. Took 15 minutes for the dessert. Oysters and crab appetizer were excellent."

  • "This is my favorite brunch place. The bloody marys are hand-crafted - and you get a small Miller beer to pour in as you drink. The omelets are fluffy. The toast bar has been set at a new high. The staff are friendly and spunky and good at their jobs. Lately, the construction noise has been a challenge - opening the front window is iffy on some mornings (new hotel going up on the block) - but the place is always packed anyway! That tells you something. Reserve for dinner at least a week ahead. Arrive for brunch as close to 10 am as possible - and if you can, make a reservation. Oh- and I love it that the bills come inside discarded books. You can write in them! It's a hoot to read what others have written. Bon appetit, auteur!"

  • "Bustling on Saturday night! Kinda loud if you want to converse. Menu was interesting. Charcuterie tray was yummy. The old-style martini glasses are cute, but sure don't seem to offer the same size pour as the "V"-shape. Mojitos needed a little work. Overall, a fun evening."

  • "After having very sub-par experiences in my first two trips to The Pearl, I have finally been impressed by the restaurant. They oysters have always been excellent, but this time I had a very good meal. The hangar steak was delicious and I would definitely recommend it."

  • "We arrived at 5:00 PM and took advantage of the happy hour with half priced wine by the glass. I mistakenly ordered a glass of bubbly which my stomach can't take and when Eric our waiter brought it I said that I'd made a mistake. He asked what else I would like and brought it out right away. That kind of service is much appreciated! Both of our entrees were excellent, and we did save room for Boston Creme Pie which Eric recommended and he was more than right. Great dinner, great service, one could ask no more. Larry & Marilyn Delk"

  • "Food was very good! The Raw Shellfish Tower was delightful - oysters were tasty; clams weak; crab and shrimp delightful. This was a first time visit and we will definitely go back especially for the oysters! Roasted Half Chicken was cooked perfectly; very juicy and moist. Noise level was a bit over the top but if you're looking for a nice place to unwind and just enjoy, this is a great spot. Seating is a bit crowded - every time someone was seated beside me I had to turn my head so not to get butt bumped in the face as they maneuvered into their seat. Servers and bussers do a great job of working together. Timing on food service was excellent."

  • "We have been to the Pearl twice now, both for Sunday brunch. My family absolutely loves to go to the Pearl because they have muted lighting, seating that is properly spaced, and the most delicious food. We love every item on their brunch menu. Everything is superior. Especially love the Stuffed French Toast and Pancakes. Their Grilled Cheese is also a true find, as well as their Deviled Eggs (scrumptious). We can't wait to try a regular lunch and dinner."

  • "Went here for brunch. We really enjoyed it except for a couple of "bumps". All the food was great except the endive salad. I was gritty, so we asked for a remake and the second one was gritty too. Couldn't eat it. They served all but one entree and after a while we asked where it was. Then it was brought to the table immediately."

  • "Food was good! I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was a bit dry but with the whole dish was still tasty. My guest had the banana French toast which I tried and was awesome! Seating was a bit too close to other tables which would make it hard to have any personal conversations."

  • "My husband and I recently picked The Pearl for our 5 year anniversary dinner. So glad we did. I'm not exaggerating when I say we both thought it was the best restaurant we've ever been to. The food was unlike anything we've ever tasted. It's been two days and my husband won't stop talking about their Cuban sandwich haha!"

  • "I love oysters and always wanted to try "The Pearl" . So my husband took me there on Gallery Hop Night. I knew I would have oysters on half shell, my husband chicken or burger. We ordered Chablis right away and it came immediatly but it was not the one we ordered, it was a more expensive one. So we asked for the one we ordered. We got it - but from this moment on, we were neglected by the waitress. She let us wait to take our order, she didn' t tell me which oysters I got on my sample and it was not because it was crowded and she was stressed, she wanted to be unfriendly to us. 9 of the 12 Oysters were really good, the 3 big ones were tough and tasteless, my husbands burger ordered medium was well and the fries too salty."

  • "The dinner on Wednesday evening was very mediocre at best. I had the fried chicken and it was very dark in appearance, so I suspect the oil that was used to fry the chicken may have been old, plus, the chicken itself was not very meaty. I was also disappointed in the taste of the chicken, so cross this menu item off your list. My friend who was visiting from Chicago had the Burger and he said it was just OK. The Server (Corey) was good - very professional and attentive to our needs."

  • "The service I would give a 3.5. The server was always present for too long when we didn't need/want him/her, and not present when we needed him/her. His/her menu knowledge was kinda lacking too. My fish 'n chips, though, was perhaps the best I've had anywhere, although the chips/fries (while tasty) were cool by the time they arrived to the table. The oysters were very fresh with a tasty take in mignonette sauce. Overall it was a good restaurant, with great food. I would go again."
