Diner Reviews
  • "What is normally great food was very salty and we had trouble finishing. The place itself was as charming as ever and service was very good."

  • "Service was great..but this is the second time eating here we noticed the food is getting saltier..Hey guys I know it's southern comfort food, but cut back on the salt..."

  • "Great vibe, delicious food and loved the décor. We will be back to try some of the various dishes."

  • "Food was overpriced. We couldn't see the pie and oyster menu from our table, and they didn't have a paper menu to make it any easier. Our table was far too close to the next table, and our conversations kept overlapping with theirs."

  • "Great eclectic menu, really enjoyed the experience"

  • "We had a special occasion reason to go out to dinner. My husband and I were renewing our vows the next day. Excellent service - we wanted to sit, relax and talk & felt comfortable doing that and waiting to order. We tried oysters and the parmigianno w/ bacon clams. I liked the oysters better. Hubby had cuban sandwich and I had the special. Perfect portions & very good. I had the flourless cake and hubby had pecan pie. The coffee was excellent. Hubby has a very discerning taste for pecan pie because it's his favorite & he said it was good. The option of Jeni's ice cream is terrific. Even though it's a casual place and has energy, it's nice for couples or groups. I think you could dress any way you want and fit in. Really enjoyed our visit."

  • "Atmosphere is top notch, but the food could gave been way better. Braised short rib was just soggy and lacked any real flavor. Spoon bread was amazing, however."

  • "Great food. Amazing service. Friend chicken, shrimp & grits, dates, sticky buns......mouth watering"

  • "The food is spot on as is the service. The drinks are always great. I love this place!"

  • "Great place. Great food. Great staff. 1 of the managers (Derek) always goes out of his way to make our dining experience the best."

  • "We enjoyed eating at the Pearl. Had a cozy, casual, trendy feel. Friendly, prompt service. The food was fantastic. We had deviled eggs and clam chowder as appetizers. The clam chowder was served with a couple of clams still in the shell. Fresh, hearty, creamy and delicious. Deviled eggs were perfect, but we did think the portion was small. (2 eggs, or 4 egg halves) Next time we would order two. We also got the hangar steak which was tender and delicious. The sauce was a little spicy (in a good way). The mud pie was my dessert and was rich and delicious. My husband got the brown sugar pie, which I thought was delicious. He was a little disappointed by its non fluffy appearance/taste and would have preferred a more substantial pie."

  • "We went expecting a restaurant not a glorified bar scene with upscale yet mediocre food. The service was the best part of the experience but the wait time, despite having reservations was beyond acceptable."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "Great food and great service. It is really noisy and busy so if you are looking for a nice quite dinner it's not for you."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "We finally made it down to the Pearl and it was very good! We liked the ambiance and the waiter's knowledge of the menu and also purchased a Moscow mule with the copper mug! Will definitely return."

  • "It was loud, so maybe dining as a group would be difficult to carry on conversations"
    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "Overall we had a poor experience. Dinner took a long time, but service was poor, another unusual Cameron characteristic. Chicken was good, Steak was excellent. The tower of seafood, just not so good, especially for $90. surprised it was not better."

  • "I LOVE "The Pearl", not only is the atmosphere extremely asthetically pleasing, but the food is divine and one of a kind. If I had to recommend any items, it would be the deviled eggs (which I typically distaste, yet some how The Pearl makes them perfect) and the braised short rib (an incredible melt-in-your-mouth texture, cannot even begin to put into words). Overall, another fantastic Cameron Mitchell restaurant."

  • "Found this spot on Open Table and after reading the reviews decided to try it out. Was not disappointed. Loved the monk fish and veges. Don't miss ordering the spoon corn bread...amazing with the accompanying honey butter."

  • "Great food and service as always. My only complaint was the large table next to us. I was there with my 2 little girls & they were telling lots of inappropriate stories & cussing a lot for sunday lunch time :( For this reason I tried to rush our lunch. If it was not for this (or if I had been there with adults) it would have been great!"

  • "As a returning guest, The Pearl had its ups and downs last night. Shrimp and Grits and Devils on Horseback were both amazing menu choices as were the fresh Oysters!; however, their version of Southern Fried Chicken left everyone wishing for something different. Although very busy, initial greeting and drink service was very slow, and the Margarita was not drinkable. Stick to the Moscow Mule for a great refreshing drink, if you visit. The Pearl is always fun and energetic but last night just a little better than average."

  • "The Pearl has been a favorite for my husband and me since our first experience. We go there as often as possible; for special occasions and just because. Everything we've tasted has been wonderful! Recently, the service hasn't been as good but we will continue to dine at The Pearl every chance we get!"

  • "Loved the food and the menu can appeal to a seafood or carnivore! Only complaint - it was fairly difficult to hear my companions because of the noise level BUT would still go back"

  • "New to C-bus and needed a suitable place for me and my 89 year old mother who LOVES clams and oysters. The Pearl was the perfect fit. Opening at 4:00 (thank you says Mother) The fresh shucked oysters and clams were perfect. The lovely hostess at the front was super friendly and accommodating. Cory, our server was efficient, friendly and very knowledgeable. Funky atmosphere gives the diner much to enjoy while relaxing. Thanks to all."

  • "My wife and I took my son and daughter in law here for their 1st anniversary. The menu is incredible. It ranges from burgers to excellent choices of fish and steaks. My son and I had the shrimp and grits. It was served with kielbasa, poblano peppers and Gouda cheese. Nice combination of flavors. We both loved it. My wife had the fish special of the night which was a white salmon I believe in a white wine sauce. Wonderful. I can't remember what my daughter in law had. The restaurant gave the anniversary couple a piece of their to die for brown sugar pie. Service was great. The atmosphere is so upbeat and fun. It's a great place to go in the Short North in Columbus. They will see me again very soon. Cameron Mitchell has scored once again!!"

  • "Took a business partner here. Great European inspired good. Wonderful oysters, mussels and fish. And the corn bread, as well as the deviled eggs were to die for. Not too loud. Fun scene. Not the preppy crowd, but the cool established crowd. I will go back"

  • "My daughter made the reservations - wasn't sure since I am not an oyster lover. Bar packed, excellent beer selection, good Moscow Mules too! She advised the bacon wrapped scallops for a starter, best I ever had. I ordered the cheese curds - perfectly fried with a dipping sauce to die for. I had the Hanger steak, done exactly to my liking, with fried rice and a fried egg on top. Yum. I'd not only go back, I'd recommend The Pearl to anyone going to Columbus."

  • "Cute place . Loud like Marcella's next door. Food took a long time as every table around us had theirs and was done by the time we got ours, no recognition of delay. Otherwise , fun to try something new . Get the cornbread for sure as an app!"

  • "Since this is a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, I guess I expected the food to be excellent. The only thing that deterred from an enjoyable experience was the level of noise and crowded conditions. We only had a table of four, but it was difficult to carry on any type of discussion without yelling at each other. I probably will not go back to The Pearl, but will certainly visit other Cameron Mitchell establishments."

  • "Good experience overall, the salmon special and the shrimp & grits were both delicious. However, the restaurant was borderline uncomfortably warm and the service didn't seem genuinely friendly."

  • "Dining at the Pearl was fantastic. We sampled several menu items. The servings were perfect to be able to order multiple items to try. The service was top notch. We dined for our anniversary and they took care of us the moment we walked in. We will be back and we will be bringing friends to experience."

  • "We love Cameron Mitchell restaurants, but this wasn't one of them. Restaurant wasn't crowded but service was slow. Took 30 minutes for our entree. Kitchen must have overlooked it on a counter because the fish was room temperature when served. Took 15 minutes for the dessert. Oysters and crab appetizer were excellent."

  • "This is my favorite brunch place. The bloody marys are hand-crafted - and you get a small Miller beer to pour in as you drink. The omelets are fluffy. The toast bar has been set at a new high. The staff are friendly and spunky and good at their jobs. Lately, the construction noise has been a challenge - opening the front window is iffy on some mornings (new hotel going up on the block) - but the place is always packed anyway! That tells you something. Reserve for dinner at least a week ahead. Arrive for brunch as close to 10 am as possible - and if you can, make a reservation. Oh- and I love it that the bills come inside discarded books. You can write in them! It's a hoot to read what others have written. Bon appetit, auteur!"

  • "After having very sub-par experiences in my first two trips to The Pearl, I have finally been impressed by the restaurant. They oysters have always been excellent, but this time I had a very good meal. The hangar steak was delicious and I would definitely recommend it."

  • "Bustling on Saturday night! Kinda loud if you want to converse. Menu was interesting. Charcuterie tray was yummy. The old-style martini glasses are cute, but sure don't seem to offer the same size pour as the "V"-shape. Mojitos needed a little work. Overall, a fun evening."
