A word from The Pearl
A Jewel Long in the Making. And well worth the wait. Cameron Mitchell’s first new restaurant concept in five years, The Pearl, is a well-polished culinary jewel that showcases made-from-scratch food, classically inspired cocktails and an exclusive selection of Ales, Lagers & Stouts. All within one urban and cozy tavern. White exposed brick, original hard wood floors, over-sized iron beams and windows that open to High Street complete this unique gastropub, located in the Short North Arts District.

Nice, pleasant experiece. Went early prior to a hockey game so we were in and out in a timely manner. Menu seemed a little limited; but what the group of us had was wonderful. Wine by the glass seeme a tad high.

Its thier first week of operation so my review should be tempered by the fact that they are working out kinks with service & menu. No one is a bigger fan of Mitchell's restaurants than I so perhaps my expectations were to high. They were VERY busy for a Sunday & our service was sub-par with several order mistakes, tardiness and general lack of knowledge of the menu. The food menu is varied but frankly I would have been happier with some "feel good" additions and less of the fanciful "pickled herring" (who orders that!? & why can't i get shrimp that aren't messy "peel and eat"?. They will get this place up to par, but i suggest you give a few weeks to iron out the wrinkles. Based on Cameron's reputation I will give them a second chance.

A fun, energetic addition to the Columbus dining scene. The oysters, their star, truly were outstanding. The staff is knowledgeable and the environment interesting and inviting. We felt, briefly, that we were on the Cape.

Good experience, overall. Way too crowded when we arrived, and we had to wait for an hour (despite having reservations)to be seated. It was opening week, so I suppose they get a pass. Eclectic menu, with prices ranging all over the place. Would love to go back and try more of the oysters & snacks/appetizers...that's definitely what will set them apart. Not super accommodating for groups of more than 4, and based on the menu offerings, could get really pricey if you are trying to share with more than 2-3 people. Excellent waitstaff and good environment. Will definitely go back, but will wait for some of the hype to die down.

What an extraordinary experience! Cameron Mitchell and his team have done it again. I love the look and feel of the place. From the decor to the waitstaff uniforms to the food and house made tonic that made my G&T sing. The Pearl is a great addition to Columbus' food scene. The confit chicken wings are a must-have. For snacks, try the Devils On Horseback. They are unique but simply delicious. Save room for pie! Can't wait for my next meal at this gem of a restaurant.

It was the first Friday they were open so we had high expectations but a forgiving attitude. Apps were delic (pickles & deviled eggs), drinks were tasty, but some of the main courses didn't quite live up to our expectations. Crab was very good, fish and chips was marginal (coleslaw was straight pepper), fish of the day was excellent and hangar steak was not good at all. If you want a good hangar steak, go to 3rd & Hollywood for their Tuesday night special. The pearl's meat was rough and the flavor of the kimchi was potent but not delicious.

We indoctrinated three-day old The Pearl-Restaurant, Tavern & Oyster Room in Columbus' Short North with our presence Thursday evening. Two amoung a packed crowd of new-restaurant diners. Most much younger that us, but a few other old goats around. We loved it! Great food (you have to have their Grilled Cheese Brie, Pear Jam, Roasted Squash, Arugula Pesto sandwich and the hot N’Awlins Style Baked Oysters. This is Cameron Mitchell’s first new restaurant concept in five years..and, if tonights crowd, delightful and attentive wait-staff and food is any indication..it is going to be another successful Mitchell success story.

Great Venue. Very Trendy. Excellent Food. A place to be seen. Just opened so it needs to get some of the bugs out of service and service time. Was there 30 minutes early for reservation time. But still had to wait another 40 minutes after reservation time. Nevertheless, worth the wait. Excellent:

The Pearl was a delicious experience and we look forward to many more meals there! The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed, the drinks were refreshing and the food was delicious! Their menu offered a great variety and some choices we have not seen at other Columbus restaurants. The Pearl was worth the wait; another fantastic dining experience courtsey of Cameron Mitchell!

The food was fantastic and the interior very unusual and comfortable. We made a meal of the starters and small plates. All were excellent. The oysters were great and exceeded expectations. But at $9 for 3, they should be. The brown sugar and butter pie was really good, although very dense and somewhat chewy. There was lots of wait staff, although they didn't always know which tables ordered what. We had four plates brought to us that were not ours. All in all, we would definitely go back.

It was a fun night...the oyster bar is a fun addition to Columbus. The atmosphere is fun and busy. The menu is more casual than I thought it'd be with less seafood than I thought would be there. Food-wise, it was good, but not "to die for" perfect, amazing bites. But, I need to try more menu items to know more. The bacon-wrapped, stuffed dates appetizer were tasty and good. Pork bao buns were okay. I ordered the Cuban confit sandwich. I didn't love it. I did love my Chesapeake oysters. Overall, a fun place to meet up with friends. I think drinks and oyster bar is what it does best.

Maybe I was misled, but this is hardly a seafood restaurant. The seafood offerings were few and very pedestrian. Also, their raw bar is overpriced. Three dollars for a Chesapeake Bay oyster is a rip off. The quality if the food is good, although not quite up to other Cameron Mitchell restaurants. After much anticipation, I was rather disappointed. I'd love to see them offer more seafood selection; then I might give it another try.

Great oysters. The spinach salad was a big hit as was the Catch of the Day (wild caught New Zealand Salmon). Also, Cameron Mitchel scored some Rogue Stout (15000) that is unique to his resturant and very good.

Apps: oysters - fresh and tasty HOWEVER final cut at the hollywood casino has half dozen oysters for $11. Not good value for $. Cornbread - very good! Wings - GREAT BANG for buck!!!! you get a lot. for the mains I had the hanger steak. I opted for this because its supposedly the "butcher's" special cut. I did not enjoy it. Very tough and chewey..i ordered medium and believe it was cooked to order however the cut was not good. Hope to see WAY MORE seafood options, looking forward to their happy hour special, and more chicken options.
