The PearBeautiful!I was attending the Bottle Rock Festival in Napa and we decided to try The Pear out because their menu looked awesome. The restaurant is beautiful, the outdoor dining area is wonderful and has a great view, and their service was really great.
We got the tater tots to share as an appetizer which were DELICIOUS! For the main course, I went against my initial instinct to get the chicken & waffles (which I read great things about) and got the french dip. The french dip was pretty good but I probably wouldn't order it again. I like a thinner sliced meat and I found the aus jus tasted more salty than aus-jusy. My sister and her friend really enjoyed what they ordered.
I will ABSOLUTELY be back to try the chicken & waffles! Yum!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and Sizeable! We had a marvelous Friday night dinner at The Pear - 5 of us. The menu is Southern with a California foodie flair (but the flavors are decidedly Southern!) The "Fish and Chips" consisted of two huge pieces of fried catfish which were delicious! I had Chicken and Waffles with a delicious Bourbon maple syrup. One person got the French Onion soup - light and rich at the same time. Another got the gumbo, which was just spectacular. AND...do NOT miss the desserts! Bananas Foster Bread Pudding rocked, as did the strawberry shortcake! All in all, a really lovely, delicious restaurant that should not be missed along the Napa Riverfront!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's All GoodGood Southern food, fresh ingredients, well-prepared, reasonably authentic. Nice wine list with some affordable choices. Professional, friendly service. Great location overlooking Napa River.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat new find!We loved it! They treated us amazing and the food was incredible at a good price. Crystal was a great server! Thanks so much "The Pear"!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGood southern-style foodThe food was very good. I had prawns and shallots in a creole sauce over jasmine rice, which was very flavorful. My husband had chicken dumplings, which was also good, but not as good. For dessert we had banana bread pudding. It was delicious, but I think it should be called banana loaf cake, because there really is not pudding consistency to it. I thought service was a bit slow, but as a NYer, I basically feel that way everywhere out of NYC.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSouthern Comfort with FlareStarted with fried pickles, tater tots and buffalo wings and all were very good. Spicey sauces really make them great. Smoked-trout salad was delicious as was the chicken. The flourless chocolate cake with sea salt, carmel and pistachios is NOT TO BE MISSED! Wow!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful place right offA wonderful place right off of main street in Napa. Went there for brunch and got baby back ribs and chicken and waffles. They were ok, what was really superior was the service.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid good food. Touted asSolid good food. Touted as Southern Cooking, noted more of a CA bent. But that is OK with us as heavy Southern cooking is not what we would choose to eat on an every day basis.
Servers were a bit over zealous to remove plates. The table next to us had to stop them from taking her salad plate from her at least three times. She was a slow eater.
There was a hige empty space in the middle and yet our tables under the window ere very close. Wonder what the reason is?
Entrance a bit hard to find. Signs around the corner on Main would be a good idea.
Would go again.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed the food and theWe enjoyed the food and the quiet riverfront atmosphere. I will definitely be going back.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFriday night with 11 yearFriday night with 11 year old and 16 year old (who has a passion for Southern food). 11 year old loved the fried pickles and chicken & waffles (the pickle spears were big for my taste, I've had fried pickle chips that I much preferred but if you're a dill pickle fan, you'll like); son and I had shrimp and grits which he liked, I not as big a fan, a bit rich though I should have expected that! Our favorite appetizer around the table hands-down were the tater tots-- so glad we read reviews about those! Would definitely come back!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you want comfort food,If you want comfort food, this I'd the place to go! Chicken and waffles hands down the best!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great and weThe food was great and we had a nice surprise: on Wednesdays most wines are half off!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Pear never disappointsThe Pear never disappoints! This newest restaurant venture in Napa is another shining star for Chef Rodney Worth. After a few hours of wine tasting with friends we came to relax along the Napa waterfront and enjoy delicious eats at The Pear. Our requested bottle of wine was not available but in keeping with their exceptional service we were offered an even better bottle of wine at the same price. Tasty bites, friendly staff and great location- no complaints here!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy...Chicken and Waffles...NextYummy...Chicken and Waffles...Next time I'm trying the Shrimp and grits, or maybe the short ribs...no WAIT, the steak salad...so many good things on the menu, it's hard to choose...4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the shrimp and gritsI had the shrimp and grits and it was fabulous! And I'm fussy about both my grits and shrimp. The bacon almost overpowers the shrimp but not entirely. My friend had a pasta dish with peas and she said it was "fabulous" and loved the sauce. Keep up the good work!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty and enjoyable experience! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at The Pear and had a fabulous meal. They started us with complimentary fondue plate with fruit and bread which was a nice treat to start off with our bottle of Pinot Noir! We wanted to try "Chicken and waffles" which was a first for us and also the fish and chips. Both were cooked perfectly and were very tasty and decadent. I had previously been there for lunch and had the best pulled pork sandwich ever! The service was spot on and the staff were very friendly. They were very busy so I recommend making reservations.
I look forward to warm weather when we can sit outside and eat..4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGumbo night! 3 of us hadGumbo night! 3 of us had Gumbo (spicy with shrimp) - well worth $10 and the Turbo Dog beer to wash it down. We'll be back, great affordable night for locals- (who don't own vineyards, just working for 'the man').4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWow - Chief Worth has doneWow - Chief Worth has done it again... His "Pear" restaurants are wonderful, but this one is the best. from service to food to the view of the Napa River. We had the fried pickles, scrumptious, the YaYa gumbo with gulf shrimp, perfect and the best were the shrimp and grits.. classic southern dish... our previous favorite for this dish were Micheal Minna's serving @ American Fish in Vegas, but Rodney beat Micheal - Amazing!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for service and viewOrdered the Gumbo Ya-Ya, my partner ordered the French Dip- both were delicious and flavorful.
Loved the teamwork regarding service! Not something you find everywhere!
Definitely would come back, especially during lunch to take in the Napa River view3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI could eat my short ribsI could eat my short ribs with my spoon the French onion soup was good and close to a meal in its self. Open kitchen is little noisy at times, but has bistro feel. The food at the tables around us looked good. The wait staff was very attentive without being in your face. Will definitely go back again.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFood with friendsCame to the Pear with a group of friends (7)for dinner. It was light and bright with large windows on the Napa Riverfront. Our server Benjamin was very knowledgeable about the menu, daily specials and the wine list. We tried several of Benjamin's recommendations, enjoying every bite. Every dish we tried was perfect! Our service was spot on.Looking forward to our next visit!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGo Hungry! If you love great home cooked food - only you don't have to make it, then this is the place for you. Very large portions as well so go there when you're hungry. The Pear has everything from grilled shrimp to meatloaf. I saw the Shrimp Po Boy go by but for lunch that was a bit much. Next time, I will have to get that. The French Onion Soup also looked like something to die for. I stuck with a wonderful salad that I ate EVERY bite of - which is rare for me so you know it's gotta be a good one. Definitely going back there for dinner very soon.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was so delicious andFood was so delicious and tasted very fresh. The ambiance was very nice, open windows/doors, breezy. Outside seating is limited but seems to be best place to eat on a warm day to watch passersby walk along the river.
Jalepeno tater tots as appetizer to share were quite tasty and were not 'hot/spicy', must have been very mellow peppers. I could have eaten all of them. The cheesy grits were also quite good, coupled w/chicken & waffles was a comfort food delight.
The menu is quite tempting and difficult to choose which entree to select. All the more reason to go back agin.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Pear was very energeticThe Pear was very energetic on a Saturday night. Our server was very attentive but not overbearing and the food was well prepared. We had the crab artichoke dip, which while good, not overly memorable. The salmon on the other hand was very tasteful on a bed of wilted spinach and potatoes. We will definitely return to the Pear!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ordered deep fried pickles,We ordered deep fried pickles, prime rib french dip, pulled pork sandwich and pear tart for dessert. I had a speciality drink, southern muddle. I don't think I would order the pickles again because they seem too big to eat, they were spears in a light batter. The sandwiches were great, especially the prime rib french dip. A lot of meat in the sandwiches and french fries were extra crispy. A lot of food and you don't walk away hungry. The service was excellent and they were very attentive, making sure you always had water, ice tea etc. We asked our server to help us choose between different sandwiches and the choice was the right one. We will definitely go back again and try other things.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Pear - LunchTerrific place for lunch or dinner - I have been there for both. The meals and service were excellent!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!Service is a definite plus at The Pear. Hostess, waitress and bus people were all very cheerful and extremely helpful. Being right on the Nspa River, the views are very nice. Food was amazing. Everything was very tasty and beautifully presented. I would definitely recommend The Pearl.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved this restaurant, lovedLoved this restaurant, loved the food, and loved our server Benjamin. Can't wait to go back.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLively downtown restaurantLively downtown restaurant were tourist and locals enjoy an interesting spin on Cajun dishes. It's not the way my Grandmother cooked in New Orleans, but worthy of a Creole's adventure in Napa,CA. Although we did not try one, the Lunch Salad were a beautiful presentation and the ladies at the table next to us said they were OUTSTANDING!!!2/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA Must Go! Wont be disapponited! This place was Great! I can't wait to return back to Napa just to return and go back to The Pear! Next time we will seat at the bar area and watch our food be prepared. It's a very nice fresh vibrant restaurant.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
