  • "Loved this place. Great food variety for appetizer, main course and dessert. The only thing more impressive was the wine list. Fun to try different things and share as portions are HUGE! Go, indulge, repeat!"

  • "... I've been to The Pear a few times now and never knew this. My friend wanted to try the restaurant, since I had raved about it from past visits. My friend is big on cocktails, so when she went to order a Dirty Martini - to our surprise we discovered that the restaurant didn't have a full bar- however they had beer, wine and specialty cocktails using Shoju. Well, I had no problem ordering a Shoju Bloody Mary - which was refreshing and yummy. My friend ordered a glass of Pinot Noir, which she said was blah. We started with the mussels, which were cooked perfectly. My friend wished there was more bread to sop up the sauce! I ordered the French Dip with french fries - YUM! Again- another great experience at this restaurant:)"

  • "Staff seemed more interested in socializing than in creating an attentive and professional atmosphere"

  • "When we were seated on the patio, it became evident real fast it was cold sitting outside. The waiter noticed and quickly brought out blankets for my daughter and me. Totally loved that kind of service."

  • "We had the gouda fondue, voodoo stew, and cobb salad. All were prepared well. Fresh ingredients. Good wine list, we chose a Cakebread Cellars sauv blanc. We ate outside which is right next to the sidewalk and stairs to the river. Out of the restaurant's control, but some of the people walking, biking, and skateboarding by are not always the most savory companion to a good dinner. Overall would recommend to a friend, inside dining resolves the last trivial observation."

  • "I work in Napa and this has been our go to place. We have made our way through the menu and the food does not disappoint. The only disappointments are the pulled pork, it's dry and the Po boy also dry. But the last 3 times we have gone service was terrible! There were 3 other tables of patrons that were clearly on lunch hours so they must be aware of that. In the middle of service we received new wait staff with no explanation and ordered items were forgotten. The service was very good when the restaurant opened so I don't know what has changed. I will continue to go for my southern comfort fix but it may be to go from now on."

  • "Each of us enjoyed a very delicious meal: mussels, riverfront club, onion soup, bishop salad. The service was excellent. We ate on the patio. We felt warmly welcomed and the staff was attentive to our preferences without hovering."

  • "Love this place! This is our favorite go to place when we have guests in town. Food is always very good, service good also, and the hometown feeling is one where you can actually talk and have a conversation. Many restaurants today are just too loud with music blasting. There is always a really awesome special here, too, so we look forward to seeing what that is on every visit."

  • "Amazing southern favorites with a California twist. This was my third time for dinner, in the past six months. The Pear is now my favorite place to dine with friends, family, and out of town guests. Awesome service every time."

  • "Limited menu. The chicken and waffles were OK. The chicken was overcooked and dry. The waffle was a soggy waffle that can get anywhere, although it had bacon in the batter. The gumbo had a lot of flavor, the andouille sausage! We like to taste all the seasoning and food items not just one! Can't image if we would have gotten the hot sauce and pepper flakes added. More like fast food place than an upscale eatery. We also managed to find a bottle of Napa syrah that was awful!"

  • "The menu was great and the service was pleasant. It's great to wine taste in the Napa area and enjoy a meal that's not an overpriced fufu salad but food that satisfies with a great atmosphere."

  • "Our server seemed new and unfamiliar with the menu. He forgot my husbands soup and sides even though he wrote everything down. Our friend ordered tomato juice and he had to be reminded of this as well. The food was fair but nothing exceptional."

  • "Wonderful atmosphere and really great food. Easy going servers that made excellent wine recommendations and were downright psychic when it came to knowing what we wanted."

  • "This place was awesome! We literally tried a bit of it all and it was Fantastic! Chicken and waffles, French onion soup, ribs, shrimp and grits and gumbo! Not to mention their Soju cocktails were great!!"

  • "After several visits now, I can say that The Pear is in their groove. They are always packed, especially on the patio. The wine list reads like a "Who's Who" of iconic Napa Valley wines, and they have a solid by the glass program, a little on the small side, but very reasonably priced. Service is fun and friendly, especially at the bar, and atmosphere in the whole place is pretty lively. The more casual and common menu items are well-executed--the burger, the Cobb salad, the onion soup are all delicious. The standout on my last visit was the shortribs, they were absolutely fantastic. I've heard raves about the chicken and waffles, but I haven't yet given them a try. Definitely a great neighborhood spot."

  • "Food was great - only complaint would be that the service was slightly off. Asked for a beer, was told by the server that the keg was pouring a little cloudy but the beer still tasted fine. The beer was terrible, and definitely shouldn't have been served. Service during meal was prompt. After finishing meal the wait for dessert menu, and then check after deciding we didn't want dessert, was excessive."

  • "The food was delicious but was very surprised to see all the fat in the French dip."

  • "We had a great dinner here. Good wine and good food. We had the Pear tart and bread pudding for dessert, both where very good."

  • "We love southern food, so we were excited to try this spot. We made a reservation, and asked for a quiet table. Although the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, we were seated near a large birthday party. We ordered wine. They were out of our selection, and suggested another wine. We ordered an appetizer, but it never arrived.. We were offered bread, but had to ask for it again. We asked for sweetener for tea several times. We eventually had to go to the bar to find a spoon so we could eat the gumbo. They did give us a free dessert to share, which was a nice gesture. The food was good, not great. Unfortunately, the lack of attention to detail distracted from the meal."

  • "The place was hopping so it was a little noisy but service was great and the food delicious. I recommend the fondue. Your tastebuds will drown with velvety smoked gouda! It doesn't get much better! The serving sizes were pretty big and we shared the Black and Blue Salad and entree. There is a descent wine list, but no full bar service. Our meal was so delicious I returned the next weekend with another group of friends."

  • "As usual the food was very good and nicely presented. Service was a little off, but that is the exception - not the norm. Great location and they always honor reservations on time."

  • "Last minute reservations got us a seat here on a busy Valentines Day night. We started off with a French onion soup. My wife was a big fan, me not so much. I had the roasted chicken, very tender and full of flavor. My wife had the short rib, extremely delicious. Wine list was good. Not too many wines available by the glass tho. Bottles are reasonably priced. Will definitely recommend The Pear SB to friends and family. Thanks"

  • "We had a 5pm reservation. We went to SF first and didn't realize it would take so long to get out of the city and into Napa. We didn't account for the fact that it was holiday weekend : ( We called the restaurant and explained we were sorry, but weren't going to be able to make our reservation. They put us on a brief hold, and then asked if we could make 7:30-8. We said definitely, and thanked them. We were really grateful, especially considering it was Valentine's Day! We previously thought a romantic Taco Bell dinner was in our not too distant future ; ) We arrived at 7:45. The host staff was absolutely wonderful to us. They had our table right away. The food was excellent. The ambience was perfect. We will be back many times over."

  • "We had dinner at the Pear prior to attending a show at a local theatre in Napa. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a date night. Very good food with a very friendly wait staff. Portions were large....I was surprised, we had fondue for an appetizer then my wife and I split a salad and then we had our main entre along with wine. I am a big eater and I was unable to finish my plate, nor was my wife which made for a nice little doggy bag to take home, we love to have desert when we eat out, but we were just too full. Nice night out, we would definitely have dinner here again!"

  • "I have fallen in love with the food at The Pears. I do not generally care for "Southern" food, but this has a more local concept. My favorites have been the Black and Blue Salad ( great lunch or dinner choice), Fish and Chips and the Hamburger. The portions are a nice size to eat on one's own or order a couple of things and share. The salads are large in comparison to some of the other places in this area."

  • "My husband and I decided to go to Pear for our last night in Napa and forego yet another gourmet meal. Without a doubt we made the right choice. The service was great, and with the recommendations we received from our waiter the meal was off to a great start. We ordered the fondue as a starter. Very good although was not hot enough. The restaurant had no problem taking it back and bringing us one that was the perfect temp. I had the Shrimp Creole, full of flavor without being muddled by heat. Hy husband had the ribs with a side of Gouda mac & cheese. Needless to say both plates were delicious. I would highly recommend Pear Southern Bistro if you are looking for a quaint, low key eatery that has food that well represents southern cooking."

  • "The reason I keep coming back: terrific food, terrific wine, terrific service! This trip was with out of state co-workers who had never been to the restaurant before. They enjoyed it as much as I did. Will keep coming back and recommending to others. Bravo!"

  • "WE were seated right away and it was busy. They were expecting us and after along day in Napa; food was really a necessity. The portions were good, and being from the south we could appreciate the portions and taste. The only complaint was the selection of beer it was all micro brew stuff no heinikin or or the such. We will certainly be back , next time will sit on the patio great atmosphere out there and much quieter."

  • "Good thing we got a reservation, the place was packed. We're Napa locals and did not realize that Pear was on the riverfront. They need more advertising. The food, wine, was terrific. Lots of fun for this foodie couple. So much to choose from, we'll have to come back to try all the yummy offerings."
