  • "My wife and I went for dinner at the Peacock Inn on Friday. I picked it out of a group of restaurants in Princeton that I found in google. I had never heard of it. We had a great overall experience at the restaurant. It was expensive but I knew that before I made the reservation.In my opinion it was worth the money. The service was excellent from the time that we sat at the bar to when they moved us to our table. The food was very tasty and had a great presentation. I had the octopus served on humus as an appetizer. It was great! Both of us had the halibut as a main meal and again it was very good . Same with the sorbet. The restaurant was very quiet and therefore it was easy to talk between us."

  • "The place is very elegant and has a great ambiance. However, the service was a little slower than anticipated. We waited almost an hour between our appetizer and meal for a party of 5. The biggest disappointment was the portion size. Now, I understand that portions in this type of restaurant may be small, but most places in this price bracket and style have larger portions. For example, the garganelli pasta dish (this one can be ordered as an appetizer or dinner) had 7 pieces of penne sized pasta! This was the dinner portion. There is a 5 course tasting menu, however the portion sizes for tasting are the same as the normal dinner portions. The food tasted great but we did not stay for dessert, and will most likely never return."

  • "Peacock Inn is a restaurant that you go to for the "experience" of dining. The lights are low, the room is sedate and the food fresh, innovative and cooked to perfection. The service is attentive, but not intrusive and accommodations are made for special diets. It is far and above the restaurants in the area and the price reflects that, too."

  • "A group of three couples met for a reunion after 5 + years for a very special dinner on May 30th. Service was wonderful and the meal was superb. We were never rushed and were allowed to visit comfortably for three hours while we dined. Our only disappointment was the lack of a soup on the nights menu- but we did have a taste in our 'amuse'. We have grown to love your soups! We All chose a la carte and every dish was delightful. Can't wait to have a reason to come back!"

  • "Dining on the first Sunday of spring, I was impressed by the changes to the menu. I certainly enjoyed the scallops as a starter, as well as the duck breast. I don't normally do desserts, but the warm toffee date cake (really a sponge pudding!) was absolutely delicious. As I have found repeatedly, the food , the wines, and the service were all outstanding. There is charm and elegance at this restaurant that I really appreciate"

  • "While we live within walking distance of the Peacock Inn, this was our first time inside. It will not be our last. Every item was perfectly prepared and portioned. The wine list had a great selection. The owner stopped by our table to introduce himself. It's pricey, but worth it. I liked the fact that most men (like myself) had a jacket on. It's not required, but it certainly added to the classy, dignified ambiance of the evening."

The ambiance is lovely, the tables are spaced out so that you are not on top of any other diners, the atmosphere is private and quiet. The food was delicious and we received two lovely amuse-bouches (mushroom soup and macarons). The service was also great. We would definitely dine here again in the future."

  • "Five of us dined at the Peacock Inn on Friday evening. The dinner was delicious. Only drawback was one guest in our party ordered take-out to bring home for her boyfriend. She ordered the dinner portion of the gnocchi and was given less than we were served as an appetizer with our meal. Luckily, she noticed it while we were still in the restaurant. She also ordered the scallops dish as an appetizer. This she didn't notice until she was home. Her portion was ONE scallop and ONE brussel sprout. We can't believe that is the normal amount for an appetizer. Otherwise, we enjoyed the meal but we were disappointed with what she was given for the take-out. Thank you."

  • "The 4-course pre-fixe menu is the perfect amount of food withouth leaving you stuffed. Almost all of the menu choices are very appealing so there is something for everyone. The sauces used in the dishes are just so good. The quality of food is excellent as well. The scallops are wonderful and the lobster is delicious. This was only our second time at the Peacock Inn and we have enjoyed both experiences. I rate this place right up there with The Ryland Inn."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful Valentines dinner at this Princeton landmark. We went the day after Valentines day, but it was still very full. The food was beautifully presented and had delicious flavors. Service was very attentive without being obtrusive. My only complaint was that we have to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time for our table. I especially like the quiet setting of the Peacock Inn. So many restaurants today strive for a "bustling "atmosphere and I don't care for that."

A la carte options have returned, and I would eat almost anything on the menu. Service is just simply not up to the standard of the menu or what I judge to be the restaurant's ambitions. But the food is perhaps the best in Princeton."

  • "Service was impeccable. Food portions just right and soooo tasty. Went for brunch for husband's birthday. Two courses - pricey but we felt worth it. As a non-meat eater, had NO difficulty finding dishes that were appealing and filling! The ricotta gnocchi to die for! Roasted chestnut soup outstanding. My hubby had the steak and eggs - perfection. Can't wait to go back for dinner! Will bring friends!"

  • "The new owners have taken this lovely old Victorian in Princeton and restored it by keeping the vintage charm but with some clean, modern touches. The inn is just beautiful. A lovely romantic spot, and the food and service live up to the setting. Dishes have a unique flair, and are expertly prepared. Definitely worth a visit."

  • "We had not been to the Peacock for a meal in over a year and were very pleased with our evening. The staff and chef have settled in and this translates to the guest immediately. The wine list has improved and does not intimidate, center of plate portions have subtly been increased to not leave the diner wanting and pace, knowledge and level of service is professional yet personable. A perfect place for a special evening."

  • "I was very disappointed. My husband and I went for Sunday brunch. Upon being seated no one asked us if we wanted coffee or a cocktail, we were only asked if we wanted water. Finally after the first course I asked the waitress if I could have a cocktail. I like to end a meal with dessert. When I asked for the dessert menu I was told they no longer offer dessert with brunch. Really, no dessert? The menu is prix fixe, $32 a person. It does NOT include a beverage, cocktail or coffee and certainly no dessert just 2 small courses. As a matter of fact, my husband's meal had a $3.00 up charge. If you like pretentious and expensive, you will love this place. I will say the roasted chestnut soup was excellent."

Desserts were standard fare. The restaurant has a nice warm and cozy feeling although the dim lighting could be improved.   • "My husband and I decided to stop in for a meal last week - what a mistake. We went for the tasting menu, the dishes were tasty at first. However, the timing between each course was very long...so long in fact that we were sitting there for stretches of time wondering what was going on (restaurant was almost empty). The main reason I have to comment was the main meat course. When you think of short rib, it is tender and flavorful. I got this short rib and just could not believe they put this thing on my plate. It was so tough I had a hard time cutting it with my knife. It tasted like sawdust. We dropped a few hundred bucks and for that money I was not expecting this mistake."

  • "We had a lovely dinner at the Peacock in on Jan18. It was busy, all of the tables were occupied. We both had the fixed price menu with wine pairings. Food was prepared very well. And wines were enjoyable. The service was not very warm at first but it improved greatly over the evening. We will definitely return. It is rather pricy at almost $500 for two but to find similar food you need to go in to NYC or Center City. So it is a nice treat to enjoy a 4/5 star meal only be a few miles from home."

  • "We received a gift card to The Peacock Inn and had dinner there on a Thursday evening; the atmosphere is warm and inviting and has a "Princeton" feel to it. The service and the food was impeccable. It is a bit pricy, but absolutely worth a visit. It was one of the best meals with some of the best service we have had in quite a while and we frequently dine out. I am a vegetarian and they were willing to prepare something special, but I was able to select from the appetizer menu. I had the roasted chestnut soup and the gnocchi(best I have EVER had) as my entree - both heavenly. My husband had the filet and smiled through his entire dinner. We will be back!"

  • "This restaurant was truly a wonderful experience and one of the best examples of fine dining we've enjoyed, their were no shortcuts taken, multiple staff members waiting on us all working together in a wonderful symphony, they even checked my wife's leftovers at the front desk as we enjoyed coffee and desert, a fine dining experience where attention to detail was precise from the complimentary valet and outside heaters to keep you warm while waiting on valet to retrieve your car to the outstanding cuisine, wife had the signature salmon wrapped in a paper thin filo dough, I had the Filet Mignon Wellington, this restaurant is a perfect example of a fine dining establishment fait accompli, Bravo."

  • "With all the hype about Peacock Inn.. I was very excited to try it for Brunch... I was very disappointed with everything EXCEPT the food. So the experience as a whole was very lacking. The service was very bad. Had the flag down server for everything. The atmosphere was lacking.. it seemed they didn't finish setting up the room. We were put in a room with two larger parties filled with young children and infants that were running around, screaming and playing with rattles. It was hard to hold a conversation. I will say however that the food was very good. We all enjoyed everything we ordered. And I would try it again with a smaller group and later in the evening with the hopes that it would be a nicer fine dining experience."

  • "We celebrated Christmas Eve at the Peacock Inn with yet another impeccable dining experience. The staff is so warm and welcoming and always makes our visits special. Each course was artfully presented with well-developed layers of flavor (the Filet Mignon was outstanding!). I especially enjoyed Chef's amuse-bouche of Cannellini Bean Soup with Bacon and Truffle Oil. We certainly won't wait until the next holiday to return for dinner."
