Diner Reviews
  • "I thought the brunch was very over-priced. Coffee and tea were not included in the fixed price menu ($32 a person) and the food was nothing special. While the service was good the meal was not worth the price. I was waiting for a dessert tray to be included and desserts were an extra $10. There are other places to go for less money and just as good, if not better."

  • "This review has been a long time coming. My wife and I have had the pleasure of dining here many times, and it was really this last time that made it personal enough for me to want to share it with the world. We decided to go for our anniversary and I wanted to make the meal extra special for my wife, so I simply sent a few requests to the hotel and Chef Perez responded promptly that fulfilling my requests would be no problem. The small details can turn a meal into a memorable experience and that is what Chef Perez did for us. I do want to mention that the staff is always on their toes and the food is ALWAYS consistent, but more than that, consistent with perfect execution. Let's just say that we always leave here planning the next visit..."

  • "Had the foie gras pate as an appetizer and the duck breast (medium, cooked to perfection!) as main course along with a half bottle of brunello (thanks for offering a half bottle for single diners). Was on business. Visited the Peacock Inn before. Will visit again."

  • "We enjoyed the Peacock Inn Brunch very much. The food was very good, well prepared and tasty. The service could not have been better. In the upcoming months we plan to have lunch and dinner there (several times) as well ....."

  • "Entire meal stunning. Could make an entire meal of appetizers. Cynthia took over for her husband. since this was our first visit, cannot imagine that her husband could create a meal any better. Can't wait to try."

  • "It's a good spot for a semi-casual date, small group gathering, or a private party for special occasions. Service here is excellent, if the environment would be more conversation friendly, like those private rooms, should also be a perfect place for family reunion or business meals."

  • "If you want to celebrate a special occasion in your life or just want to enjoy a romantic dinner for two, I would sternly recommend the Peacock Inn. The menu is unique and the food is outstanding. I would strongly recommend the duck breast. It is the best duck that I have ever had anywhere."

  • "The tasting menu was really good - great to get to sample some different things on the menu! Everything was amazing! The service was good but not impeccable. A great anniversary dinner!"

  • "We brimmed with anticipation for the 5 course tasting w/wine pairing as described online. When we arrived, they changed 2 dishes to our chagrin - Scallop to Gnocchi and Lobster to Salmon. There wasn't, however, a change in price. Nonetheless, we moved forward without protest. Each dish was solid with some stand-outs (Fois Gras Terrine, Corn Agnolotti, Glazed Duck). Sadly with the wine, I didn’t feel any complemented my dishes. The Inn itself is charming but the tables might be a bit too close for comfort. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Considering the dish downgrades and wine selections, I would have appreciated a more palatable price tag but in the end the negatives were salvaged by service and dishes I highlighted."

  • "Romantic brunch for two in a special ambience. The food and service were very good, the $5 cocktails simple but very tasty and affordable. I recommend the sweet corn soup which was delicious. The staff was very friendly and professional. I highly recommend."

  • "Pleasant atmosphere, very good chef with dining ambience included, good bar atmosphere with pleasant surroundings, and pleasant rooms to retire to at the end of the evening."

  • "been to this restaurant a few times before. won't return. upon arrival (arrived a few minutes early): asked to wait for "2-3 minutes" (really, 10), then sat down in an empty room...which continued to be pretty unoccupied throughout our meal. service: mediocre. the waiter appeared to be uneducated about the menu. the support staff was great (asking if we wanted more bread, explaining the dishes). waited for at least 10 minutes after finishing entrees, waiter walked by several times, finally called his name and asked for the check. we would have likely had dessert (at least coffee), if the service had been better. food: not as great as it used to be. portions for a la carte are too big and off balance. no vegetarian entree options."

  • "My wife and I selected the five course tasting menu and every dish was excellent although the very tasty beef was somewhat gristley. This is clearly as good a restaurant as there is in New Jersey."

  • "I stayed at the Peacock Inn the night I eloped in Princeton. I knew nothing about it as an undergraduate at Princeton, but when I was looking for accommodation, the restaurant at the Peacock Inn swayed my decision. My husband and I got the 5 course tasting menu, and it was completely worth it. Every dish was a revelation, and we enjoyed the range of flavors prepared by the chef. Hopefully we will be able to return there the next time we are in town, and Zagat will recognize that they should be a five star establishment."

  • "We enjoy dining at Peacock Inn since it re-opened, but had yet to try it for Sunday Brunch. It was lovely. Elegant, relaxed, civilized. We all enjoyed our dishes very much. P.S. The gnocchi was back to its original awesomeness! Best. Gnocchi. Ever."

  • "The meal at the Inn was very good, though portions are small. The greens salad was delicious, and, while the corn soup was tasty, it was somewhat disappointing. The entrees, lamb chops and sirloin were excellent, the best part of the meal. Deserts were not extraordinary. We had the cherry and almond tart, more of an almond cake with cherries in it. The marscapone cheesecake was the better choice. The ambience was a bit dull and understated for my taste. That being said, we enjoyed the experience and would go again."

  • "My husband and I took another couple to the Peacock Inn, a place none of us had been to for quite some time. The food was simply wonderful and the service was excellent. Yes, it is expensive, but well worth the price. We'll go back, for sure."

  • "We love dining here. The gnocchi recipe, locally famous, has changed a bit. Still delicious but not the same, not quite as stellar. Please continue to add the asparagus and tiny mushrooms. Also, smaller gnocchi was fluffier.... what's up with the change?"

  • "Everything was great; food, service, etc. We just didn't know it wasn't kid-friendly. At all. They don't even have a high chair. We brought our kids (10 and 1) and my husband's dad for Father's Day and we had to take turns feeding the 1yo on our laps and taking him for a walk. There was nothing we ever read online that would have told us not to go there with young children."

  • "Everything from the service to the food to the ambience was just perfect for a romantic dinner for my wife's birthday. The 5 course tasting menu was outstanding. The servers, hosts and bartenders were outstanding, very helpful and knowledgable ."

  • "We all loved our meals..poached lobster, roasted chicken, and the duck. All delicious. Best meal I have had in Princeton. But our service was truly an ordeal. The manager stepped in and tried to right the wrongs of the server. Greatly appreciated. Still would recommend it to friends. Bar tender has interesting botanicals for upscale cocktails. "

  • "Second time dining at the Peacock Inn and once again everything was impeccable! Appetizers flawlessly executed. The tuna tartare was light and melted in your mouth. We both choose Lobster entree which let the fresh slightly Brine of the fish shine through while highlighted by the peas and other fresh fresh fresh spring veggies. The toffee dessert should be illegal it's so good. Put on your summer duds and enjoy an amazing meal!!!"

  • "The Peacock Inn was highly recommended so we made reservations for our 44th Anniversary that coincided with a nephew's graduation from Princeton and a granddaughter's soccer Olympic development tournament. I mistakenly expected an Inn at Little Washington experience. Accepting that outcome, most of the food we ordered was excellent and nicely presented; however, my lamb was was quite tough and so it was good that I only received two very small pieces for my $50. The cherry dessert was also very good."

  • "Outstanding. The chef is very talented and the servers are very knowledgable The risotto was amazing. So was the lobster. I wish it was near my home in CA. "

  • "Excellent brunch for a very reasonable price. Everyone knows that the Peacock Inn is one of the best restaurants in town, and also one of the most pricey. But the brunch prix fixe menu was an amazing deal, even better than the brunch at the new restaurant Agricola. It was a surprising find, and also extremely pleasant! I will definitely go back. "

  • "We stayed at the Peacock Inn and decided to try the Restaurant upon the recommendation of the bartender. The entire experience was incredible, I highly recommend the five course tasting menu."

  • "The well designed room was poorly lighted. Every person who arrived after 7:00 pm required a flashlight in order to read the menu . A flashlight was also required to see your food but since you couldn't eat and hold a flashlight at the same time you were forced to consume your food in the dark. This was distressing to the patrons and insulting to the cook who had surely plated the food to look appetizing. The amuse bouche of mushroom soup was excellent, the lobster dish was ok, from there on everything was totally blah. My lamb chops had no sear and were luke warm. The Baked Alaska was a horror, the meringue was gummy like stale marshmallows. My wife sent back her espresso it was so weak. New York prices but not New York food "

  • "Went for Sunday brunch and thought the menu had plentiful choices. The food was outstanding! Service was good and ambience was very nice and simple-windows made it nice for the sun to shine in. Good place for lunch and dinner as well. The actual building is not where I would want it as it's right on a busy street. But it is quiet inside. Need more parking spaces though. "

  • "The Peacock Inn was the absolute perfect place for a romantic dinner. I could not have been happier with the service, atmosphere, and cuisine. I loved everything that we ordered and would highly recommend the gnocchi dish, which has (deservedly) been named one of the top five dishes in New Jersey. I can't wait to dine here again. "

  • "This was a price fix meal, so I knew going in, it was very expensive. However, I was expecting to be blown away. I was not blown away. The food was very good, the service was very good. It is a very nice restaurant. But, I was expecting a little more. And for 85.00 a person, I did not expect to be charged $4.00 for coffee. A small item, but I would expect coffee to be included. Again, it was very good, but too expensive for what we got."

  • "The restaurant has a good name in the Princeton area. It is somewhat dark, and it was good that I had my I-phone with flash light with me to read the menu. Service was excellent, but portions were on the small side, meaning that we left the restaurant with a hungry feeling. The guys in charge of the valet parking did a great job. In summary, happy to have done this once, but it is unlikely that we will go back there. Price-quality is out of proportion. Although the food is good, it is not excellent (which I would expect for the price tag), and the portions are on the small side. "

  • "This was our first visit and were very glad to have our anniversary dinner at peacock inn restaurant. The food taste and flavor was not only impressive, it was very unique and stylish. The service from valet parking to the minute we left the restaurant was tremendous. "
