Diner Reviews
  • "The meal at the Inn was very good, though portions are small. The greens salad was delicious, and, while the corn soup was tasty, it was somewhat disappointing. The entrees, lamb chops and sirloin were excellent, the best part of the meal. Deserts were not extraordinary. We had the cherry and almond tart, more of an almond cake with cherries in it. The marscapone cheesecake was the better choice. The ambience was a bit dull and understated for my taste. That being said, we enjoyed the experience and would go again."

  • "Receptionist was arrogant. My son and I were clearly placed in the non local section of the restaurant. Food was good but over priced for what it was. Service was very good."

  • "Everything was perfect. From the seared sea scallop, the glazed duck breast (both with great wine pairings) to the cherry tart with port, I could not have had a better dining experience."

  • "My husband and I took another couple to the Peacock Inn, a place none of us had been to for quite some time. The food was simply wonderful and the service was excellent. Yes, it is expensive, but well worth the price. We'll go back, for sure."

  • "Everything was great; food, service, etc. We just didn't know it wasn't kid-friendly. At all. They don't even have a high chair. We brought our kids (10 and 1) and my husband's dad for Father's Day and we had to take turns feeding the 1yo on our laps and taking him for a walk. There was nothing we ever read online that would have told us not to go there with young children."

  • "Everything from the service to the food to the ambience was just perfect for a romantic dinner for my wife's birthday. The 5 course tasting menu was outstanding. The servers, hosts and bartenders were outstanding, very helpful and knowledgable ."

  • "We love dining here. The gnocchi recipe, locally famous, has changed a bit. Still delicious but not the same, not quite as stellar. Please continue to add the asparagus and tiny mushrooms. Also, smaller gnocchi was fluffier.... what's up with the change?"

  • "Food (lamb, duck, and cheese plate) all excellent and service was extraordinary with a wonderful table location. Would use on any special occasion."

  • "The Peacock Inn was highly recommended so we made reservations for our 44th Anniversary that coincided with a nephew's graduation from Princeton and a granddaughter's soccer Olympic development tournament. I mistakenly expected an Inn at Little Washington experience. Accepting that outcome, most of the food we ordered was excellent and nicely presented; however, my lamb was was quite tough and so it was good that I only received two very small pieces for my $50. The cherry dessert was also very good."

  • "Second time dining at the Peacock Inn and once again everything was impeccable! Appetizers flawlessly executed. The tuna tartare was light and melted in your mouth. We both choose Lobster entree which let the fresh slightly Brine of the fish shine through while highlighted by the peas and other fresh fresh fresh spring veggies. The toffee dessert should be illegal it's so good. Put on your summer duds and enjoy an amazing meal!!!"

  • "We all loved our meals..poached lobster, roasted chicken, and the duck. All delicious. Best meal I have had in Princeton. But our service was truly an ordeal. The manager stepped in and tried to right the wrongs of the server. Greatly appreciated. Still would recommend it to friends. Bar tender has interesting botanicals for upscale cocktails. "

  • "Outstanding. The chef is very talented and the servers are very knowledgable The risotto was amazing. So was the lobster. I wish it was near my home in CA. "

  • "Excellent brunch for a very reasonable price. Everyone knows that the Peacock Inn is one of the best restaurants in town, and also one of the most pricey. But the brunch prix fixe menu was an amazing deal, even better than the brunch at the new restaurant Agricola. It was a surprising find, and also extremely pleasant! I will definitely go back. "

  • "We stayed at the Peacock Inn and decided to try the Restaurant upon the recommendation of the bartender. The entire experience was incredible, I highly recommend the five course tasting menu."

  • "The well designed room was poorly lighted. Every person who arrived after 7:00 pm required a flashlight in order to read the menu . A flashlight was also required to see your food but since you couldn't eat and hold a flashlight at the same time you were forced to consume your food in the dark. This was distressing to the patrons and insulting to the cook who had surely plated the food to look appetizing. The amuse bouche of mushroom soup was excellent, the lobster dish was ok, from there on everything was totally blah. My lamb chops had no sear and were luke warm. The Baked Alaska was a horror, the meringue was gummy like stale marshmallows. My wife sent back her espresso it was so weak. New York prices but not New York food "

  • "Went for Sunday brunch and thought the menu had plentiful choices. The food was outstanding! Service was good and ambience was very nice and simple-windows made it nice for the sun to shine in. Good place for lunch and dinner as well. The actual building is not where I would want it as it's right on a busy street. But it is quiet inside. Need more parking spaces though. "

  • "The Peacock Inn was the absolute perfect place for a romantic dinner. I could not have been happier with the service, atmosphere, and cuisine. I loved everything that we ordered and would highly recommend the gnocchi dish, which has (deservedly) been named one of the top five dishes in New Jersey. I can't wait to dine here again. "

  • "This was a price fix meal, so I knew going in, it was very expensive. However, I was expecting to be blown away. I was not blown away. The food was very good, the service was very good. It is a very nice restaurant. But, I was expecting a little more. And for 85.00 a person, I did not expect to be charged $4.00 for coffee. A small item, but I would expect coffee to be included. Again, it was very good, but too expensive for what we got."

  • "This was our first visit and were very glad to have our anniversary dinner at peacock inn restaurant. The food taste and flavor was not only impressive, it was very unique and stylish. The service from valet parking to the minute we left the restaurant was tremendous. "

  • "The restaurant has a good name in the Princeton area. It is somewhat dark, and it was good that I had my I-phone with flash light with me to read the menu. Service was excellent, but portions were on the small side, meaning that we left the restaurant with a hungry feeling. The guys in charge of the valet parking did a great job. In summary, happy to have done this once, but it is unlikely that we will go back there. Price-quality is out of proportion. Although the food is good, it is not excellent (which I would expect for the price tag), and the portions are on the small side. "

  • "The food, service and ambiance was just excellent ............................ all considerations deserve high marks. The decor exceptional throughout. The tables all set sufficiently apart to give privacy. I believe that it helps to have a fine culinary sense to fully appreciate the food. The portions were sized (small) appropriately and the prices (high) reflect the experience. [The only thing out of place was menu reading in a dimly-lit setting (difficult).]"

  • "My wife and I went for dinner at the Peacock Inn on Friday. I picked it out of a group of restaurants in Princeton that I found in google. I had never heard of it. We had a great overall experience at the restaurant. It was expensive but I knew that before I made the reservation. In my opinion it was worth the money. The service was excellent from the time that we sat at the bar to when they moved us to our table. The food was very tasty and had a great presentation. I had the octopus served on humus as an appetizer. It was great! Both of us had the halibut as a main meal and again it was very good . Same with the sorbet. The restaurant was very quiet and therefore it was easy to talk between us."

  • "The place is very elegant and has a great ambiance. However, the service was a little slower than anticipated. We waited almost an hour between our appetizer and meal for a party of 5. The biggest disappointment was the portion size. Now, I understand that portions in this type of restaurant may be small, but most places in this price bracket and style have larger portions. For example, the garganelli pasta dish (this one can be ordered as an appetizer or dinner) had 7 pieces of penne sized pasta! This was the dinner portion. There is a 5 course tasting menu, however the portion sizes for tasting are the same as the normal dinner portions. The food tasted great but we did not stay for dessert, and will most likely never return."

  • "Peacock Inn is a restaurant that you go to for the "experience" of dining. The lights are low, the room is sedate and the food fresh, innovative and cooked to perfection. The service is attentive, but not intrusive and accommodations are made for special diets. It is far and above the restaurants in the area and the price reflects that, too."

  • "A group of three couples met for a reunion after 5 + years for a very special dinner on May 30th. Service was wonderful and the meal was superb. We were never rushed and were allowed to visit comfortably for three hours while we dined. Our only disappointment was the lack of a soup on the nights menu- but we did have a taste in our 'amuse'. We have grown to love your soups! We All chose a la carte and every dish was delightful. Can't wait to have a reason to come back!"

  • "Dining on the first Sunday of spring, I was impressed by the changes to the menu. I certainly enjoyed the scallops as a starter, as well as the duck breast. I don't normally do desserts, but the warm toffee date cake (really a sponge pudding!) was absolutely delicious. As I have found repeatedly, the food , the wines, and the service were all outstanding. There is charm and elegance at this restaurant that I really appreciate"

  • "While we live within walking distance of the Peacock Inn, this was our first time inside. It will not be our last. Every item was perfectly prepared and portioned. The wine list had a great selection. The owner stopped by our table to introduce himself. It's pricey, but worth it. I liked the fact that most men (like myself) had a jacket on. It's not required, but it certainly added to the classy, dignified ambiance of the evening."

  • "One of the best cheese platters I have had. Would go to there just for that. Would concentrate on the appetizer dishes than the main entrees. We would go back again for the ambience and side dishes."

  • "This was our second time dining here, and we had another wonderful experience at the Peacock Inn. The ambiance is lovely, the tables are spaced out so that you are not on top of any other diners, the atmosphere is private and quiet. The food was delicious and we received two lovely amuse-bouches (mushroom soup and macarons). The service was also great. We would definitely dine here again in the future."
