The Peacock Innvery good-exceptThe person who greeted us pointed to our table and did not escort us or hold the chair for my wife. I do not think he meant to be rude he obviously was not properly trained. . Our waitress was fine although our appetizer was not divided even though we told her we would be sharing it.
The food was very good and the room was very attractive. The price makes it a special occasion destination..6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall a great experienceOverall a great experience with good food and good wine.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Dining ExperienceThis was a wonderful dining experience. The service was awesome, very efficient but not overdone. The food was superb; I can't wait to go back and have the scallops, the pate, and the duck!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!Food and service were superb. One of the best restaurant meals I have ever had!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAwakeningThe Inn has come a long way from where it used to be under the capable and friendly management of the new Proprietor, Barry Sussman. Charming decor, great food and wonderful service and presentation make for a delightful dining experience.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Find! While in town for Princeton Reunions my husband & I dined at The Peacock Inn on Thursday evening. The new a la carte menu was wonderful. We ordered as starters....the sauteed sea scallops, the seared foie gras, ricotta gnocchi, & the housemade cavatelli. Our entrees were the salmon "en croute" and the Atlantic halibut. Everything was beautifully plated. Each plate was meticulously designed with bites of flavors, so when tidbits of each were combined on one's fork the combination was divine. Our server, Michael, was knowledgeable, attentive, and patient.....giving us a relaxing experience, while at the same time at table-side when we needed him. We had a quiet, intimate table for two by a window. Our evening could not have been more perfect.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food in a place to talkThe food was better than expected and we could hear each other talk!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways excellentThe ambience is quietly elegant, the staff attentive and friendly, and the food is always excellent. We have dined here on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed and always thoroughly enjoyed our time there.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in New JerseyThere is nothing lacking at this Princeton gem. The food is creative and absolutely delicious. The ambiance is lovely without being stiff. The staff is warm and welcoming and well trained. Run, don't walk!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food from startExcellent food from start to finish. Quiet ambience. Good for a business meeting or a romantic dining experience. Wine list superb. Quite the dining experience. Would recommend this restaurant very highly.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, Great cocktails! After this first visit, we think this is the best restaurant in the local area! We enjoyed some very creative pre-dinner cocktails, a formidable tasting menu and the accompanying wines. We are real foodies, loved the creative dishes and would definitely return. A dining experience to be savored and at a very reasonable price. Compliments to the Chef and his crew. Delicious!
This was a birthday meal for my wife and was most definitely a success - thank-you.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMImpeccable service and friendlinessImpeccable service and friendliness of wait staff. Abundant and varied seasonal choices on the menu. I appreciate a cheese course as an alternative to a sweet dessert. Many cheese selections were available. Will definitely dine there again when we're in the area.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service and ambianceMy husband and I went for dinner on Fri night. They have started an a la carte menu which offers good selections. My husband preferred the pre fix menu but unfortunately the entire table has to take either the a la carte menu or the pre fix menu. We both ordered a la carte. The portions are small but very well presented. I had the gnocchi as app and tile fish as entree. He had crab as app and the lamb loin as entree. They were both good but not excellent, as we were expecting. The dessert (brownie) was delicious. Overall, we were satisfied with our dinner but since there are many other great restaurants in Princeton, we were disappointed.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant surprisePrinceton is a bit sparse on good restaurants so this impeccably renovated inn is definitely a good find. The spicy cucumber martini was deliciously bracing, foie gras terrine good, pork belly ok, tilefish superbly served on a spume, and a very impressive cheese selection.
The reason I didn't give 5 was I've had better/ more originally served pork belly and the excess of fruit and fruit pastes somewhat marred the breads and cheese serving.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMProbably the best in PrincetonThis was the second time I came to this place as I was very impressed the first time. The second time did not disappoint me either. I requested a diferent table from the one shown to me and there was no barrier to this. Impressive menu and wine list. We opted the Prix Fixe dinner and it was very tasty. Not a morsel left in my plate. It was available with a wine pairing resonably priced. There will be no problem for me to come back repeatedly here.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentMy husband and I went for dinner to celebrate his birthday. Everything was wonderful. Definitely worth the money.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service.Excellent food and service. Very nice atmosphere, particularly for a special occasion.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly lovely brunchThis is our 2nd time enjoying a leisurely brunch. The selection, quantity, and quality are superb. The staff is attentive, the atmosphere lovely. It's a very special place.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a gem!!The food at the Peacock Inn was unbelievable!! I cannot wait to go back again!! First rate!!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMbirthday celebrationI ordered flowers which were on the table when we arrived. The wait staff immediately picked on on the special occasion (birthday). Very attentive staff. Dessert had an ornate Happy Birthday in chocolate calligraphy around the serving plate. Special time for us was made even better by a quiet, engaged staff. The food was first rate, the wine pairings were well done, and the ambience was just right.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific dining experience!I had not been to the Peacock Inn since it's renovation and am so happy I finally went. It's a fabuolous restaurant - they started an a la carte menu the beginning of May and had excellent choices. The food was superb - beautifully prepared and elegantly presented. There wasn't anything I didn't like. Service was attentive and extremely courteous. The entire staff there was very friendly and hospitable. It's definitely a place to go if you like fine dining - what a local gem!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPeacock Inn - Great DiningExcellent menu, perfect amount of food and delicious. Writing Happy Anniversary in chocolate on our dessert plates made it a night to remember.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMPrinceton's Best in Fine DiningFood and wine selections were first rate. Service was outstanding and relaxed which resulted in a very enjoyable and memorable dining experience.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI must say the Peacock InnI must say the Peacock Inn was wonderful. I went here with my boy friend and one of my best friends. Usually we have huge portions for our huge appetites; however, the food was filling. First off 2 course brunch Pre Fixe for $30 isnt bad at all.
I got:
Beat salad- Very small portion but very yummy
Gnocchi- Wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was very delicious.
-- I enjoyed my beat salad more than the Gnocchi. However, both very well made.
Onion Soup- VERY GOOD. It's very unexpected and different but i loved it.
Steak and Eggs- Steak was prepared well but the eggs and potatos had no seasoning. I mean at least put salt and pepper. If only there was at least salt and pepper, I'd be happier. Kinda Disappointed.
French Toast- yum4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the second time weThis was the second time we dined at The Peacock Inn and was just as impressed as the first time. The service and food was outstanding.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMReliable DiningOverall, very nice experience. Food is carefully prepared (sometimes too sweet, works for some dishes), service attentive, nice homey atmosphere, tables nicely spaced.
We would prefer other options (other than just pre-fix menus).
Will surely come back.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMPittsBoySuperb fixed prix menu. Desserts to die for. Expensive but worth every dollar, rather every C-note4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMarvelous brunch. Worth theMarvelous brunch. Worth the drive from NYC for a celebratory special meal.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMPeacock inn was a great findPeacock inn was a great find for me and my girlfriend just visiting princeton for the weekend. the service was great and the food was spot on. overall if anyone ask me where would you go for a great dinner in princeton, i would recommend peacock inn.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had Easter dinner withWe had Easter dinner with a special price fixed 4 course menu. There were several choices for each course, so even my teenager found something he liked. All of the food was exceptional, for both taste and presentation. Portions were not huge, but with 4 courses, an amuse-bouche and after dessert sweet, we were pleasantly full. The staff was attentive and prompt. Would highly recommend.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBig evening out in PrincetonSince its refurbished reopening a few years back this is one of tne of the top tables in the Princeton area. Currently the menu is all prix fixe, either 4- or 6-course, though you can order a la carte at the bar.
Some standout appetizers are hamachi with jicama and a blood-orange drizzle, onion soup creamy as a bisque, and gnocchi paired with asparagus and mushrooms. On the other hand the butternut squash risotto was more underdone than al dente with little squash flavor. For entrees there are a lot of good fish dishes, especially salmon en croute, but bring back the crispy pork belly that used to be the signature dish here!
Service still displays some long gaps in between the various courses.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMalmost great, but for serviceThe food ranged from good to outstanding. The chef clearly knows what he is doing. Too bad the service did not match the quality of the food. The waitress was pleasant, but hardly ever there and it was difficult to get her attention. We checked with a someone when we could not get her, and he was downright surly. How hard is good customer service, especially when you have a product as good as the chef produces. I hope the manager takes note of this.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOur new favorite place toOur new favorite place to go. A fine dining experience with a professional staff from the dining room to the bar. You will not be disappointed.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBravo!!Phenomenal. Hands down best dining experience. Dee-licious food! Professional, knowledgeable, warm and friendly staff. Drinks are perfect. Atmosphere is elegant and comfortable.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSpec salmon would have enjoyedSpec salmon would have enjoyed more if a little more cooked However, they did say that was the prep. Always enjoy3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always the food is excellent. As always the food is excellent. We had the four course menu which had an abundance of choices. The service was also excellent. One of the best special occasion restaurants in the area.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGO!Just go! Everything from the amuse bouche to the dessert (get the sticky toffee date cake!) was amazing. We did the 4-course because it seemed to have more choices than the 6-course and our favorites were the gnocchi, the risotto, the lobster and the filet.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
