A word from The Peacock
Guests are invited to take an unpretentious seat in one of the Peacock’s four rooms, or outside on the champagne terrace, where modern elements playfully mingle with English culture and American tradition. Comfort and camaraderie fill the air as Old World bartenders mix classic British cocktails and English inspired cuisine is served upon a cloth-less wood table.

Surrounded by a mix of original fireplaces and mahogany walls, eclectic furniture and whimsical modern art, you can’t help but feel a connection between what the building once was and what it’s become.

The Shakespeare, located beneath the Peacock with its own separate entrance from the street, is the Peacock’s more casual pub counterpart. The Shakespeare is emblematic of a 16th century pub found in Stratford-upon-Avon and served hearty English pub grub, cask ales, wine, and cocktails.

...... food not as wonderful. We both had chicken tikka masala and in hindsight, that probably should only be ordered in an Indian restaurant. Dessert was okay but nothing special. However, loved the place with all the little rooms - very quaint. Service was wonderful - non intrusive and spot on. Would definitely try it again but would try some different dishes. Oh, and it's a little hard to find. There's not sign outside the hotel that says anything about The Peacock restaurant. If nothing else, try it out for a drink ...... it's definitely worth that.

The Peacock has an tasty and interesting english menu - great fish and chicken dishes with delicious and indulgent desserts but it's the quiet and serene garden terrace that's the real attraction. Amazing to sit somewhere so cosy and conducive to conversation in the middle of the busiest city in the world. Lovely staff are the icing on the cake.

If you like traditional English food....then The Peacock is for you. What a lovely place to dine. The staff is very knowledgable and friendly...and very attentive. The food and drinks were superb. We were there at 6pm...and were alone til about 7pm when the dinner crowd came in.We had two different entrees and apetizers....and all were first rate. The decor was stunning and beautifully laid out. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The Peacock was quiet when we went for drinks and dessert, which was surprising given its great location, fantastic cocktail menu, and amazing food/desserts. The staff were lovely, attentive and friendly without rushing us or pushing at all. Highly recommend the gin cocktails and the sticky toffee/date pudding. We'll be back for birthdays!

We enjoyed The Peacock. The memu is limited but pretty well chosen, if on the adventurous side. There is an extensive wine list but they do not serve Prosecco by the glass. The service is terrific -- attentive, gracious, prompt and helpful. We sat in the garden. A nice find.

At first we thought of outside but it was quite crowded, no view, rickety table, so we went inside and had a beautiful corner table for two. I had the house made ricotta and DH had the salmon tartare, both good but I won. We had rabbit pie, very good and lighter than I had feared. I had the chocolate and salted caramel pie with ice cream, DH had the sticky pudding, also with ice cream. So good we decided that it was a win-win. Waitress excellent, very professional. Went down a star because it took way too long to get her to give us dessert menus and even longer for the bill. On the other hand, the bill was really reasonable. Would go back again in a second.

Very good hamburgers and duck pie. They ran out of the rabbit pie. The ambience is more London than New York. A terrific bar and service. It is spacious and great for conversations. We were all charmed by the place. It was lively but not frantic like so many NY places. Take your adult friends that have good manners.

Had high expectations. Could have been really special. No hostess when we arrived so we had to look for one. Got seated in a paneled room with dark wallpaper with peacock design on it, quite romantic and interesting but 50s music was blaring thru the speakers. Fortunately they turned the music down. Hostess and servers were all casually and sloppily dressed. Had the roasted bone marrow starter, huge serving, very good but very rich, could not finish; had whole grilled sea bream which tasted fresh but needed salt and lemon. It was on a bed of greens but could have used a sauce of some kind. Husband had the gammon steak (it's ham) which he said was good. Servers not attentive and inexperienced. Interesting place but not coming back.

Staff are all very friendly and professional and able to moderate to different timetables (speed of service) and clientele (the business crowd or casual). Great find in a restauarant no-man's land. Finding a very good restaurant in Murray Hill is daunting. This new-comer is lovely. the Williams Hotel did a great job with this townhouse restuarant. The decor is old-world elegant, the food is up-dated -British, pleasant enough service (they are trying hard) and over-all it's a clubby feel to the place. It is, though, on the expensive side. the tab came close to $90.00 each with wine and tip.

Saw the NYT review. Had enjoyable meals at chef's place in Philly (Dandelion). Decided to try Peacock. Ordered Harrogate Loaf (veal terrine) and gammon steak. Terrine very good, chutney and a caper based salad. Across the room a table of men gathered, shouting as loud as they could so became very noisy. The gammon was a beautiful succulent piece of salted pork with excellent grilled pineapple and fried egg, but the mashed potato was over seasoned and the dish was too salty. I pointed this out to the maitre . He agreed as he had it for lunch - he might have told chef!! Went to the bathroom leaving glass of wine. When I got back my table had been cleared!! APOLOGIES and more wine. Service OK. Pear crumble very good.

I've dined at a lot of restaurants and the entire Peacock Experience was Outstanding. You enter a perfectly restored 1890's townhouse, are greeted by a charming young lady who takes your coat and escorts you into the adjoining Library Bar which is intimate and flawlessly decorated where you relax with a perfectly concocted mixed drink or wine. Later, whenever you're ready, you're escorted into the dining room where you're presented with an extensive menu highlighting a wide variety of foods all of which, as it turned out, were expertly prepared. My pork steak, which I had prepared Medium, came out so tender and juicy that it melted in my mouth. The chef prepared my companion a vegetarian entrée that was outstanding. Don't miss this place!!!

We had an early dinner here before our show. The wait staff was very attentive and accomodating. The food was very good. We started off with the french onion soup and the salmon tartar. The French Onion soup was a little on the saltier side. However, if you had it with the bread it balanced the taste of the salt. The salmon tartar was INCREDIBLE. The bread was light and airy. The tartar was perfect. Every bite had a balance of textures. This would be a dish I would get everytime I visit. For the main course, we had the Rabbit Pot Pie with chips and the Gammon Steak. Both dishes were very good. My only complaint is that the sauce on the Gammon Steak was on the saltier side as well. Other than that, our resturatn experience here was excellent

Hard to judge based on one meal, but we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the new Peacock. Having had a truly spectacular meal at Aiken's former place, the Dandelion in Philly, this meal didn't compare, but the menu is very interesting, and we're pretty sure the high standard is coming. We'll be back a few more times once brunch and all the other meals are fully up and running. The staff were very cordial and friendly and the space is lovely, with several small rooms suitable for groups, cocktails, lounging, etc. A very promising experience.

This restaurant is new, tucked in the back of a cute brownstone hotel. The problem with it being in the back- the kitchen is here, they serve people in the bars at the front of the hotel food as well, so they're constantly carrying orders through the small dining room into the front. Let me say, the food we had was delicious..if a bit on the salty side. We had a main for our app to share- the Bourgignon Risotto, with red-wine braised chicken, mushrooms, and onions. The price was $17 on the menu, but we were charged $23 for it. After a 40 minute (!) wait we received our entrees - rabbit pie and shepherd's pie. Both wonderful. We had a 30 minute period in between our app and main where we didn't receive even a slice of bread or update.
